Thinking of holidays reminds me of fresh baked goodies. I am not much of a cook, but I do love to bake sweets and make candy. Once again, this is another opportunity to take out my craft supplies to create decorative containers for these gifts. Helmar Adhesives are great for adhering paper to paper maché boxes. It’s easy to apply with a foam craft brush, which dries quickly.
Here’s the supply list and directions to help you create your own festive box.
Supplies:
Pattern Papers by PSX Paper Designs, Flair Designs and Daisy d’s.
Bo-bunny Rub-ons
Hirschberg Schultz & Co., Inc. Tulle
Hobby Lobby Paper Mache Star
Michaels Holly Leafs
Westrim Red Beads
Directions:
1. Measure the paper mache star, cut paper to cover.
2. Apply Helmar Craft & Hobby PVA Glue evenly onto the star shape, add paper.
3. I find it’s easiest to work on one area at a time. I cover the bottom of the star first. Then I work on the sides of the box. Next I apply paper to the lid of the box. Depending on the complexity of the shape, I cover the inside of the box. On this project, I did the inside of the lid only.
4. Continue this process until the entire star box is covered with paper.
5. The Helmar Premium Craft Glue is the perfect adhesive to apply the ribbon along the edge of the star. The glue goes on evenly, dries clear and sets quickly.
6. Tie tulle on the outside of the box.
7. Cut a gift tag from coordinating papers (2” x 3½”), staple on tulle bow, cover staple with a dab of Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive and pour beads on adhesive.
8. Fill with a batch of homemade goodies and give as a gift!
Happy Holidays!
