my true love gave to me... Three Funky Christmas Trees! If you are looking to add quick Christmas decorations to your house these are perfect!
The Transparency Tree:
I started by making the base of the tree with Prima paper, cut freehand and sprayed with Glimmer Mist to add some color variation:
Don't worry if it's not perfect, you can always trim the bottom to have it stand straight. I have learned that it's easier to adhere if you roll it in a cone shape tightly first and let it unwind so it is shaped. Then add the Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive down the inner edge and adhere to make a cone shape. You don't need a lot of adhesive. I used a close pin on the bottom so I didn't have to hold it.
I made a wider and shorter cone with the transparency. I will not lie... creating a tree with transparency is not easy, but definitely worth it! The material doe not want to stay in a cone shape. But you can add a few brads or staples in addition to the adhesive to make sure it's not going to "uncone" ;) on you.
I stacked the transparency tree on top of the paper tree. Added some Prima Say It In Crystals and adhered Prima flowers with the Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.
The Polka Dot Tree:
This one is the easiest! Again, freehand, I cut my cone. This one is taller and wider than the last two.
Tightly roll this into a cone shape, let unwind, add Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive to the inner side and adhere into a cone shape. Using Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive I topped it with a Prima flower and added Fancy Pants Pom Pom ribbon.
I cut a fringe bottom to add some personality to this one ;)
The Small Tree:
I started out with a template of half circles, you can print them here. I choose 3 coordinating papers and one transparency. I used the Helmar Repositional Adhesive to adhere the templates to the papers without having to trace it.
I assembled all the cones using the Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive with the additional of a brad on the transparency.
You can embellish these cones fairly simple and stack them on top of one another if you are looking for a fast Holiday decoration. I have a hard time keeping it simple ;)
I sprayed the base of the tree (pink) and the polka dot cone with Helmar V2 Vellum Adhesive, let sit for 5 minutes and covered with glitter. Did you all see the 10th day of Christmas here on the Helmar Blog? I ended up using those pink beads! And some leftover green ones too. I adhered the beads with Helmar's 450 Quick Dry Adhesive around the very bottom of the base.
The transparency. I adhered the Maya Road Ric Rac with Helmar's 450 Quick Dry Adhesive to the transparency cone.
I used the Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive to apply the Prima rhinestones and star. The wings were adhered with Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots. The Scrap Dots gave me a chance to angle the wings slightly back so they weren't leaning forward, flush with the cone.
I wanted the tree to be a little taller than it would be by stacking the cones. So, I broke apart a paint stick and glued small wood chips in the top of the cones using the Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive:
I stacked them using a bit of Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive to the point of the bottom 3 cones. I added the adhesive to give the tree a little attitude and have the cones swaying every which way :) And I ended up with this:
Happy Holidays!
