Hi everyone!! Carole Stirrat here with my very fist post as one of the new Helmar Design Team Members! I still have a hard time believing that I'm on this amazing team and get to work with such an amazing product! Actually though, whether I was on the design team or not, I'd still be using my Helmar for everything I create! I LOVE this stuff!! Up until not too long ago I would use a tape runner( I won't mention what brand I used ) for anything I could, well that proved to not be all that effective. I kept experiencing my pages fall apart and inside my heart cried noooooooooo!!!! I have this ribbon tacked up on my wall that I use to clip up finished layouts and it really started to chafe me in the worst way that my loving hard work was literally falling off the pages! Well, this just so happened to coincide with my running out of tape runner (which must have been fate!) and my only resort was to use liquid glue for everything. I had a bottle of Helmar in my stash and gave it a try expecting it to give me gloppy slow drying results like your good old fashioned Elmer's glue. Well boy let me tell you I was wrong!!! I now pray to the glue gods for my Helmar! My favorite staple is Helmar's Acid Free Glue which I use on probably 80% of my layouts now. Spread thinly it dries faster than you would think and it also goes a long way which is very economical for me. I don't know about you, but I can go through a reel of tape runner in a day or two depending on how productive I am. The Helmar Acid Free Glue dries fast and clear, and is strong as heck and I'm so happy that none of my layouts are falling apart anymore! Pass the liquid glue please!
The layout I have to share with you today was adhered completely with Helmar's Acid Free Glue, along with a few elements adhered with Helmar's Scrap Dots (my second favorite adhesive!) I thought I would try to make an embellishment out of Scrap Dots by squeezing it out like flower petals onto a piece of wax paper. Once it dried completely (about 24hrs) I trimmed it away from the wax paper and placed it on my layout with just a little dab more of Scrap Dots. I think it turned out to be a fun little element on my page!
Another trick or technique that I did was to take two alphabet stickers of the same size and layer them with Scrap Dots to give extra dimension. I love making parts of my page pop up!!
