Dimensional eye candy..................

"What have you been creating lately?"
There is that question that all of us crafter's know so well.
The question that leads us into a talk about how busy we have been, what has been happening in our lives, how much we miss the days of when time was so readily available and seemed to fly by at a much slower pace.

Me, I am fortunate enough that my family always asks me that question because they have gotten to the point where they expect me to be sharing something with them that is new to them. They like to see themselves in photos and to giggle at the memories. They inspire and encourage me to create daily. This summer has been a busy one, with lots to share. I created some layouts to talk about what we have been up to lately. Hope you enjoy them!

Find time in your schedule for a little R & R this summer...

 

I enjoy making bath salts & soaps.  Combine that with my love for papercrafts and I have a spa gift set.  I think it is because taking a luxurious spa bath is my number one way to unwind rest and relax.  Since going to a spa daily doesn’t exactly fit in my budget, I create the same for myself.  Here’s how you can make the same for yourself or give as a gift for someone else.

Designer Instructions:

1.      For the foundation of my projects, I recycle baskets, boxes, planter pots and various product packaging.  Measure and cover you container with Karen Foster Design pattern papers. Adhere with Helmar Acid Free Glue. 

2.      Fill the package with bath sponges, towels and pumice stones. 

3.      For plastic containers and glass jars, I clean off the labels.  Paint the lids with acrylic paints.  While the paint was still wet, I pressed a paper towel onto the paint to create a distressed look.

4.      I wrapped Magic Mesh around the container, and embellished with Karen Foster Design Stickers with Helmar Liquid Scrapdots.

5.      Tie ribbons and tags around the neck of the jar.  I fill the containers with bath salts that I make myself. 

6.      As for spa treatment sets I create for gifts, I make a card to coordinate.  For this card, I used Karen Foster Design papers, Helmar Quick-Fix Adhesive Runner and embellished with flowers, ribbon and rub-ons.

The idea of dimensional.....

You know, I have really been thinking about the word "dimensional" lately.
I love adding dimension to my designs, lifting them right off the page or the book.
Actually, I think "dimensional" has become something in my creating, that is as part of my work as it is part of my thinking and planning. When I create, I like to play with the idea of pop work and layers.I just have a hard time creating with a flat page, at this point.

This last  month, I really challenged myself to take dimension to a new level and think out of the box with my typical style. Thanks to my Helmar products, the "stick stuck," and I was really happy with the final products. Thanks for taking a peek at some of my favorites.

Helmar:
450 Quick Dry Adhesive,
3-Dimensional Liquid Scrap Dots,

Each chipboard piece was backed in dotted Liquid Scrapdots, allowed to rest/dry upon the chipboard book, and then additional Liquid Scrap Dots were added for additional lift. The same technique was used for buttons, although I only needed 1 layering of adhesive to make them pop.

 

 

 

 

 
The crackle adhesive was added to each chipboard heart, allowing for a lovely vintage effect.
Each heart was "Scrap Dotted" for a lifted look.

 

 

Here is a different creative take, using the same Helmar Products.
I was trying to create "lift effect," but in a different way. This time, i needed a light layer behind each of the papers, creating the effect of a floating layout. I think the products used very very well.

Thin layer added Behind the rest of the papers in a stream and gently placed upon the cardstock: Professional Acid Free Glue,
Used to adhere the  door to the background: Quick Fix Permanent Adhesive Tape Runner

Back To The Basics

I'm a simple girl really.  I love pretty things, lazy summer afternoons, good books and fun times with my friends.  I also love my simple go to every time adhesives by Helmar.  Any project I do I can use any one of three or a combination there of Helmar products. They are Liquid Scrap Dots, Premium Craft Glue, and Quick-Fix Adhesive Runners.

On this project I used all 3.  I used the Liquid Scrap Dots to pop up part of the title, the Premium Craft Glue to glue on the chipboard embellishments and button and the Adhesive Runner for the whole layout.
