I am trying to reorganize my craft area and decided to put my prismacolor pencils out where I could see them and not in the box they came in. But what to use to hold them? I looked around and found this sitting in my "to-be-altered pile".
PERFECT!! It has four compartments on the inside that will hold the pencils and will look cute in my area. Now came the hard part... what paper to use to cover it? I finally decided on Melody Ross designer collections by GCD Studios.
I reinforced the bottom of the carton with some thin cardboard and also put some inside in the compartments. I used Helmar 450 to attach it. I then measured the sides and cut the paper accordingly. Once again I used Helmar 450 to attach the paper. After it had dried I went back over the edges with sandpaper to blend the edges.
The paper is two sided so using the other side and Martha Stewart punch, I made a swag looking border to go around the top of the container. I used Helmar's black 1/4 round Zapdots to attach the swags.
I wanted to decorate the sides a little but still keep with the theme of the paper. So using Creative Impressions sheer Blossoms, I added themto the sides. I stuck Bits of Bling (also from Creative Impressions) in the middle of the flowers. Using Helmar Gemstone Glue, I attached the little flowers to the big flowers and then the entire flowers to the container.
Here it is full with the pencils, blending stumps and odorless mineral spirits.
Supplies used:
Helmar ZapDots
Helmar 450
Helmar Gemstone Glue
GCD Studios
Creative Impressions
