Rise & Shine!!! Good Morning to all of you fabulous Helmar fans! My name is Aymee Gandy, aka Southernbellescrapper, and this is my very first Helmar blog post as a design team member! I am so excited to be a part of this spectacular team and can't wait to share my projects with you!
Now, on to today's post....TGIF!!! It's Friday, the weekend is here and I am just as giddy as can be! I just love the weekend! The hubby and I don't always get to go out on a "date", but there is something about the weekend that just makes me so happy! I feel relaxed and ready to scrap at a moments notice....which is what I plan to do this weekend.
But before I skedaddle off to my scrappy desk, I have an altered project that I would like to share with you. The project is a Victorian fan that I made with the use of my Cricut Expression die cutting machine, Sure Cuts A Lot Software, and my favorite Helmar Adhesives.
I have been wanting to create a fan to hang in my scrapbooking room for some time, but I was unsure of how to do so. Therefore, I did a little research on line and came upon a new blog that offers up free svg files, or new to me I should say. Once there, I found the most beautiful template for a fan. I chose 2 sheets of glittered My Minds Eye cardstock from my scrappy stash that I have had for quite some time. I have been challenging myself here lately to try and use up some of my scrapbooking supplies. I have so many things that are just sitting here collecting dust. I decided I needed to use them or lose them. I chose some cardstock that I felt fit into the Victorian theme I was going for. The fact that this cardstock is a bit on the thick side along with the glitter makes it difficult to cut, so I swapped out the regular blade in my Cricut Expression for the deep cut blade. It worked perfectly and cut the pattern like butter!! Once I had all of the pattern pieces of my fan cut, I decided to shadow each piece for added security and strength. So I cut the same pattern using the 'shadow' function in some solid brown cardstock. Now that I had all of my fan pieces cut out, I used the Helmar Quick-Fix Glue Runner to adhere them together.
Next, it was time to embellish each piece of the fan. I have some silhouettes of Victorian ladies that I decided to use. I cut each silhouette out in brown cardstock and embossed them with my Cuttlebug and Swiss Dots embossing folder. I wanted them to have some dimension on my fan, so I used Helmar Zapdots to pop them up a tad. After I adhered all of the silhouettes, I chose to add some flowers to my project. I took some plain white paper flowers and spritzed them with 'Coffee Shop' Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. After the flowers had dried completely, I adhered them onto my fan with Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots. I have to say that the Liquid Scrap Dots are some of my favorite in the line of Helmar Adhesives. They are so versatile and easy to work with. I also added rhinestones to the project for some bling. Next, I added some lace trim to the very tops of my fan using Helmar Premium Craft Glue. Normally, I would of decided to go with Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive, but I am all out of that fabulous product!!! I squeezed the bottle until it was bone dry I tell ya! But the Premium Craft Glue did an excellent job as well!
Last, I added a gemstone brad, along with a brown tassel, to hold the pieces of my fan together. The brad allows the fan to open and close rather smoothly. Here is what my finished project looks like:

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend and Happy Scrappin'!
