There's A Reason It's Called 'Scrap-Tacular'...

Happy Wednesday! I hope you are enjoying a marvelous day so far! Aymee, aka Southernbellescrapper, here to share a couple of projects featuring the Scrap-Tastic 'Scrap-Tacular'  Kit with you!!! This is one fabulous kit! Have you checked out the blog this week??!!! So many awesome projects! If you haven't, be sure to scroll down and check them out! I guarantee you will be inspired!

Check out the kit...

First, I created a layout using this fun kit. This layout features paper that is included in the kit from Pink Paislee. I just love this paper. It is so versatile and I really enjoyed working with it. I also added in a My Mind's Eye die cut and alphabet, chipboard embellished with PK Glitz Glitter, yellow ball fringe, and a bit of stitching using my sewing machine. I adhered the majority of my layout using the Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner. I brushed some Helmar 450 Quick Dry on my chipboard to adhere the glitter and popped it up with a Helmar 3-D Zap Dot (White).

Here is my page, "Those Faces."  This picture was taken on a warm, Spring day in 2006. My father and nephew, Carter, were caught running around in the sprinklers. The faces they are displaying gives me the giggles each time I see this photo!

I played around with a new technique I came up with as well....

I thought I would share this quick and easy tip with you. As you may know, I am all about dimension on any project that I create. I just love it! To begin, I cut a piece of 7"x 4" sheet of patterned paper. I scored it at the 2" mark and folded in half. I then took my sewing machine and stitched it closed for added security.

 
Next, I used my scissors and cut snips into the strip as shown. No need to be precise here, you may cut as many or as few 'slits' as you like.

Last, I used my fingers to open up each slit as shown for the dimension I was looking for...

Now, you will want to adhere these, overlapping slightly, with a strong adhesive. I highly recommend the Helmar 450 Quick Dry for this. It worked like a charm on my page!!!

Next, I decided to play with the swimsuit themed paper from Fancy Pants Designs that was included in the kit. I made another one of my favorites...the easel card. Now, I made one of these for a blog post a few weeks ago and I know someone had asked me how I did it. Well, I thought I would post the link to the tutorial that I used here for you in case you too would like to know how to make an easel card. They are so easy to make and I am addicted to them!

For this card, I adhered my paper using the Helmar Quick-Fix Adhesive Runner. I adhered my yellow ball fringe, ribbon, and buttons using Helmar 450 Quick Dry.

More on Scrap-tastic's Scrap-tacular Kit!!

Hi there!  It's Karen here sharing a few more creations made using Scrap-tastics "Scrap-tacular" Kit !!   Aren't you just loving all the gorgeous projects being shared this week?  I'm loving the versatility of this kit, and thought to myself, how about sharing what you might do with all the leftovers, once you've created some fabulous layouts..or even extending the kits by using just bits and pieces here and there of the awesome goodies that come in this kit!!

So, here we go!  Today, I am using these awesome products: Helmar 450 Quick Dry, Helmar Quick-Fix Adhesive Runner, and Helmar 3D Zap Dots (White)...

    

Along with this fantastic "Scrap-tacular" Kit from Scrap-tastic!! I've got two projects to share with you today, that go together to make for one wonderful gift for a special grad!!

Being that graduation time is happening right now, I thought it would be fun to create a gift box and complimenting card for those hardworking, dedicated, and inspiring graduating individuals for this 2010 year!!  Not to mention, those awesome diecut sentiment pieces works so well with the GRAD theme!!  And..this kit lends itself to making a sweet gift for either male or female!!

Now, you've made some wonderful layouts with the kit, and you have all those left over pieces, or you might be thinking (like I tend to do so many times), how can I cut these papers up to utilize this kit to it's full potential!  Well, I did just that in making this Graduation Card!! 

You can see that I used just tidbits of the green scallop 12x12 circle, as well as cutting up that lovely plush lushy wildflower 12x12 designer paper.  I also used two of the different wildflowers (I call them), cutting them apart, and even tucking a couple of them to make it seem like they are peeking right out! I achieved that dimensional look by adding my white Helmar 3D Zap Dots underneath the "yesterday" die cut, beneath, the "discover" die cut, and right behind a few of those gorgeous wildflowers!!  The whole card was adhered by using my Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner, and I used my Helmar 450 Quick Dry to glue the ribbon and little cream colored rosette to the center of the bow!!  And, look at this..only used two of those beautiful felt chipboard letters "10" to commemorate the year of graduation!!

Then, for this sweet little Grad Gift Box, I used a Silhouette template and used my Helmar 450 Quick Dry to adhere it all together!!

I went to town by layering a couple different cardboard labels and backing some of them with the red designer paper!  And, again I cut up one of the die cuts, backed it up with red designer paper, and tucked it right underneath the main "I Believe In You" die cut sentiment!!  Lastly, my handmade flower was made using my Helmar 450 Quick Dry so that will never fall apart!  I used the leftover center area of the green 12x12 scallop paper!  I added a little scrunching with my fingers to add some character and more textured feel!  

So that's it for me today!  I hope this inspires you in some way to use your scrappy scraps from the Scrap-tacular kit as well as utilizing the papers and embellishments in different ways!  I can see how this kit can go along way by extending it to it's full potential, and I still have more projects that I can create!! Whoo-hoo!!

Featuring Scrap-Tastic July kit

Hey there!  As we continue on through the first official full week of Summer we all have the awesome privilege of showcasing the amazing July kit from Scrap-Tastic, owned by the amazingly talented and fellow DT member Becky Teichmiller.

And for added fun, I'm going to show you a mini tutorial that will show you how you can emboss fabric to create one of a kind accents for your projects!  I'm seriously loving this because I've been wanting to experiment and emboss fabric for a while now and I finally got around to it.  I hope you're inspired by this technique and will use it in your projects!!!

First of all check out this amazing kit!

Can't you just feel the summer heat exploding out of this kit!?!?  Perfect for all your project needs!! 

Here's what I created

To create the blue border I randomly drew scallops on the backside and cut it out.  I think sometimes we all need to just let ourselves create outside the box - don't you?!?!?   And see the Pink Paislee Artisan tape at the top corner?  Yeah, it's meant to be curled and torn.  Kind of interesting, I think!

Here's my one of a kind accent I made using Helmar USA Fabric Stiffener and Draping Liquid.  I LOVE that stuff!!!  Here's how I made this accent.

First of all assemble  your cast of characters

I had already coated my fabric with the fabric stiffening and used a circle cutter to cut out the fabric.

Next take your stiffened fabric and emboss it!  I used a cuttlebug die, but really - use whichever die you want!

Lastly coat it with chalk ink by Clearsnap.  I used Chestnut Roan.  If I could, I'd buy that color by the bucket full I love it so much!

As you can see in my projects I layered it with punched out scallop circles to create dimension and bulk.  I love dimension and bulk in my projects!

To adhere the fabric to my paper, without the paper buckling from weight or liquid I grabbed one of my favorite liquid glues 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.  It works amazingly every time!

~Helmar opens up my crafty world~

Hello again Helmar fans!
When I say Helmar opens up crafty world, I mean it 100%!
I never would have thought to alter a rolling pin, apron, or this canvas bag if I had not found Helmar glue. One of my favorites is definitely the Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive, but they all work in different ways that makes it easy to tackle any project!

I was on the phone with my girlfriend before I altered this bag and she told me how cool it was I rolled paper and twine to make candles in a layout last month. We both were chatting about how cool it is to have a quick dry STRONG adhesive and not worry about it coming apart or not sticking to a product!

Having a glue you can trust makes a HUGE difference in your every day crafting abilities.
The papers I used to create the flowers and ruffle on this bag are from the Scrap-tastic July Kit and they just rocked my world! The kit is called Scrap-Tacular!
Not only does Scrap-tastic have fun kits but they carry Helmar, what could be better?

I won't be washing this bag in the washing machine, but I know it will last for year without one stitch from my sewing machine, that makes me a very happy crafter.

So next time you are thinking about a new project, think about your glue, can your glue do this?

Scraptastic Kit Layout

This week we're highlighting projects made using the July kit over at Scraptastic!

The red, white and blue color scheme of this kit made me feel a little patriotic so I scrapped these photos of my husband from way back in the day...

I put my page together using my Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner, and I grabbed my trusty Helmar Gemstone Glue to attach those little star shaped buttons.  

This is a great kit for making 4th of July layouts, without it being too "themey"....and as an added bonus, Scraptastic is a Preferred Helmar Vendor so you can treat yourself to a great kit AND stock up on your favorite Helmar adhesives all in one place ;)

June Guest Designer: Customized Candle by Jamie Cripps

We would like to thank our June Guest, Jamie Cripps! 

 

I love candles of all kinds but lets face it, they can get pricey!  I have had my eyes on a candle at a fancy store for a couple weeks but as I was playing with my Helmar Clear Zapdots I figured out that I could mimic it and spend much, much less!  I started off with a 6" vanilla and added several 1/2" clear round Zapdots, leaving the adhesive cover on the outside of the Zapdots.  I then added three strips of P K Glitz's 1/4" Sticky Tape, again leaving the adhesive cover on.  I poured out three areas of glitter, one for each color, and began peeling the adhesive covers off of the areas as I worked.  I worked with all of one color before moving on to the next, shaking off the excess glitter.  After all of the areas were covered, I ran the candle under the faucet rubbing areas where the excess glitter had stuck to the candle being careful to not rub off the areas I wanted the glitter to stay!

Supplies:
Glitter: Glitz in Chocolate, Charteuse, and Gilded Ivory (P K Glitz)

Adhesive Tape: 1/4" Sticky Tape (P K Glitz)
Adhesive:  Helmar Zapdots, 1/2" Round Clear (Helmar)
Candle: 6" Vanilla

 

I am so pleased with how this candle turned out and can't wait to make more!

Scrap-Tastic Scrap-Tacular kit

This month the Design team here at Helmar USA has the privilege to work with a fabulous kit created by Scrap-tastic  for the their July kit. The name of the kit is Scrap-Tacular and you can find it right here. This kit sure gives the feel of the season of summer. I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as I have.

My first project is a card that I created as a design of the United States of America flag. When I saw the stars in the Scrap-Tastic kit, I knew right away that this is what I wanted to create.

 

I took my Purple Cow Freestyle mouse trimmer and cut 7 strips of paper to use as the strips on the flag. I glued these down onto a 5 x 5 square of patterned paper from the Scrap-Tastic kit using the Helmar Premium Craft Glue. Once the stripes were down I sewed in the upper left corner and then painted the chipboard stars white and sprayed them with the Helmar V2 Vellum Adhesive. While it was still wet I sprinkled them with some glitter. Once they were dry I glued down all the stars with the Helmar 450  Quick dry Adhesive. Next I took my Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and sprayed some of my own Maya Road Chip Board alphas blue.  Once dry, I flipped over the the Alpha's and rubbed them with some of the Helmar 450 Quick dry adhesive and put them down. Once I completed the design of my flag, I took the 5 x 5 flag and glued it down on a card with my Helmar Quick Fix adhesive runner. I finished up the layout using some tiny stickers from Cosmo Cricket.

For my 2nd project I created this layout of my niece Emma. (center) She is Little Miss Lindenhurst Illinois this year. I wanted to document this photo of her in her first parade. I thought that the kit had so much to offer for completing this layout. I cut my patterened paper using the PurpleCow Freestyle trimmer and and then used Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner to put the paper down on my cardstock. For my butterflys and the ribbon, I used a thin beading of the Helmar 450 Quick dry. For my Enjoy the Journey sign I used Helmar 3d ZapDots. I added my own bouquet of flowers from Prima and glued them down with the Helmar 450 Quick dry Adhesive.

When I first saw Kiki Art products through a blog or two at the last CHA, I was so excited. The bright colors, vibrant prints and full collections immediately caught my eye. I had put a few of the collections on my ever growing wish list, but I hadn't gotten around to getting any yet. Then low and behold my DT package arrived with a great assortment of Kiki Art products.

Now why do I love this company so much? They are CANADIAN!!!! Kind of a perfect match, I'm Canadian too. See where I'm going with this... They truly embrace what Canada is, a Cultural Melting pot. You can see it in their collections and by looking at their design team. Now talk about talent!!!

So the first line that I gravitated to, was the Jardin line. Full of whimsical butterflies and ladybugs. Bright colors, great graphics and totally SUMMER. Did I mention the texture? YUMMO!!! So get your shades out and feel the summer breeze. If I listen closely enough, I think I hear my pool boy bringing me a Mojito...

The Liquid Scrapdots was at it again on my project, but I can't help it. It puts the perfect dimension on everything. All of the flowers and the butterflies have different amounts of Liquid Scrapdots to really create depth. The sentiment is created using the Rough Copy Alphabet from My Stamp Box. Love the font.

Cheery indeed. now where did my fanboy go, I need to be fanned with a palm frond!!!

What's your Creative Process?

Howdie fellow Helmar fanatics!! I hope you are enjoying some beautiful weather where you are!! It is SO HOT here today!!! I'm trying not to complain...honest! :)

Speaking of hot, I have some HOT products to share with you today from our Preferred Partners!! HUGE thank you to them for their generosity!

To create this adorable LO of my second to youngest son I used lots of Helmar USA products, which I'll share later, along with goodies from Kiki Arts, Purple Cow, Jillibean Soup, and Bella BLVD! Wow!

What is your creative process? Do you start with your photo's? Do you start with your design, or is it the photo's that inspire you? For me it changes with each project! Sometimes it is a specific story i want to tell, so I begin with the photo. But to create this page, I dug out my Kiki Art paper and let it be my inspiration. There were so many fun and funky designs to choose from! This paper called out to me... (I see it called out to some of my Helmar team mates as well! Tehehe!!) So, I began my page with BUGS as my theme! That's where I came up with CUTE AS A BUG for my title!

After I had the theme of the page down, I dug thru my photo's to find the CUTEST photo's that I could find! These jumped out at me... I just LOVE them! And from there... I began to design my page.

I LOVED that my Bella BLVD stamps contained this ADORABLE little ladybug stamp! How perfect is that!? I stamped it, colored it, added some stickles and stuck it down with a 1/2 inch circle black HELMAR ZAPDOT. Then, One bug was not enough... so I added several more!!

I LOVE using the Purple Cow cutting Mouse!! I dig it out and added a fun gap on the top of my page for interest! How fun! And SO many different cuts to choose from!!

To create another fun and fancy edge, I cut some of the Jillibean Soup Journaling sprouts in half and added them to the bottom of the page. Fun!

Then came the ribbon. Helmar was MADE for ribbon in my books! I used the Helmar 450 Quickdry to make the ribbon pleats AND to add it to my page! I used the Fray Stoppa on the ends to... well... stop the frays!! :) I love using ribbon now that I have the 450 Quickdry! I often avoided it before! Thank you Helmar!

Finally, came my journaling. I wanted to keep the page fairly simple, so instead of adding journaling strips, like i LOVE to do, I just added another Journaling Sprout at the top of the page and added my journaling in there!

I used the Premium Craft Glue and the Quickfix Adhesive runner for the paper throughout the page. No ripples, no warping... just perfectly stuck down paper! Fabulous!

So what's YOU'RE creative process? Do you start with photo's, design, product? I challenge you to change it up!! Try something different! And above all else, don't forget to pull out the HELMAR before all else! :)
