Happy Monday to all of you Helmar Hotties out there! I hope you are having a marvelous day so far! Helmar USA DT Member, Aymee Gandy, here today to share a card and a quick tutorial with you featuring some of my favorite Helmar Adhesives and products from a few of our preferred vendors: Pink Paislee, Elle's Studio, Maya Road,PK Glitz, and Purple Cows. Now, this tutorial was inspired by my talented fellow DT Sister, Tanisha. She posted the cutest card featuring some glittered Zap Dots (you can see that HERE) and I just loved her project. So it got me to thinking...how can I try this out? Well, if you are like me, you have many scrappy tools in your scrappy studio that sit unused for the majority of the time. It's not that you don't adore the tool, but you just are unsure how to incorporate the use of it into your paper crafting. For me, that favorite, but way underused, tool has to be my Purple Cows Hot Laminator. So, I decided to put my own spin on Tanisha's glittered Zap Dots with the use of the laminator.
So, for this technique, you will need:
-laminator & laminator 'hot pockets'
-Helmar Zap Dots (Clear)(you may use the large or small circular ones or even the square ones)
-glitter
1. For my project, I did not need but a few of these blingy dots, so I decided to use the 2x3 inch Hot Pockets from Purple Cows. First, open up your Hot Pocket and adhere Zap Dots. I found it easiest to peel the Zap Dots off of the sheet they come on, press onto the Hot Pocket and then peel of the opposite backing.
2. Lightly sprinkle glitter of your choice onto each of the Zap Dots.
3. Once you have all Zap Dots covered with glitter, fold the Hot Pocket closed and lightly press. This will help from getting glitter all over the place.
4. Very gently, open the pocket and let the leftover glitter slide out and back into its container. If a bit of glitter stays on the inside of the pocket, this is perfectly fine. Here is what it should look like:
5. Run the Hot Pocket through your laminator.
6. Once the pocket goes through the laminator, you will want to let it cool. Once cooled, you can cut out your blingy dots. For me, these remind me of epoxy stickers, which I love. I love the smooth texture the laminating gave to the dots. And by laminating my dots, I can rub my fingers over these and no glitter will come off on my fingers. The laminating really made the glitter pop. Here is what the dots should look like:
I applied these dots to a easel card I made. For my card, I used:
-combination of patterned paper from Pink Paislee
-glitter from PK Glitz
-die cut from Elle's Studio
- flower/pins from Maya Road
-border punch
AND of course you know I used my favorite Helmar Adhesives:
-Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runnerfor the majority of the gluing down
-Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive for the ribbon and adhering the finished blingy dots
-Helmar Zap Dots (foam & clear) for lots of yummy dimension
-Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots for the flower
I am in constant amazement of how much easier it is for me to make my projects by using Helmar Adhesives! They just are the bee's knee's for me! Love 'em! Here's my finished project:
I love these homemade embellishments! They really add a personal touch to the card. I want to give a BIG shout out of THANKS to Tanisha for the inspiration! You rock girl!
I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and that you will give it a try. It really is so easy and a great way to use up those tools that are sitting around collecting dust. Have a fabulous scrappy day!
