Helmar is proud to introduce our October Guest Designer (drum roll please).............Sarah Mullanix.  Take it away Sarah!

Hello everyone, it's Sarah Mullanix here, Helmar's October Guest Designer.  I am so thrilled to be working with the wonderful Helmar products, and I would like to share with you a few projects that I created using Helmar's Premium Craft Glue. This glue, in my humble opinion, is the absolute best go to glue for any of your crafting needs that include: fabric, lace, trim, leather, vinyl, buttons, metal, and of course paper too. I decided to create a cute headband for my daughters and also a couple of rings using a few vintage buttons using the Helmar Premium Craft Glue.

The headband was very quick and easy to make even though it looks like it could have taken hours. The Helmar Premium Craft Glue bonded very quickly and made creating this headband a snap. First of all, I simply glued the lace to a plain plastic headband, easy enough. Secondly, I used a ribbon that was already pleated and simply ran a bead of glue along the ribbon's bottom edge and began wrapping the ribbon in a circle starting with what is the center of the flower and working my way out. In order for the flower to keep it's shape I sat a heavy book on top of the flower while it was drying. After 20 minutes of dry time, I glued the flowers to the lace on the headband using Helmar's Premium Craft Glue. I stitched a couple of loops through the flower and around the headband to hold while the flower dried. The next morning my daughter wore her new headband to school and has worn it many times since. Helmar's Premium Craft Glue has to be fantastic if both of my daughters can wear this headband to school more than 20 times and not a piece is out of place! Thank you Helmar!

 
 
I also created a couple rings with some vintage buttons that I recently found. These are incredibly easy to create as well. I purchased a few ring blanks and simply glued the buttons, layering them by size, on the ring blanks. I allowed them to dry overnight and they were perfect to wear by the next morning.

It sure is Sweet!

I was lucky enough to collaborate with Pink Paislee on their Summer release of the Sweetness line!  After sniffing the new smell of paper and rolling around it in for a little bit, I then felt better about cutting it up!  I used Helmar's Liquid Scrapdots, because I wanted a lot of dimension and I didn't want to see anything behind what I was doing, because the font and the hearts are super small.  This is where the clear liquid scrapdots can really come into play with crafting.  You can get any dimension that you want and it dries clear.  This makes it essential for the little elements of your scrapbooking or crafting.  You'll be able to see how small some of these elements are and how high I was able to get them off my mini-album.  I also used my chipboard viewfinder wheel from Magistical Memories and pearls from Kaisercraft.

Beautiful Butterflies

Hello Everyone! Tina here to share a quick layout with you!

If you know me at all, you will know that I am in LOVE with butterflies! I have a hard time creating a project and NOT using butterflies on it! I am working on it though! :) Helmar helps these beauties to literally lift off the page!

In creating this page of my daughter, I used Upsy Daisy's beautiful papers! I just loved the dots on both of these sheets and love the simplicity of this design! I also added a gorgeous pin from Jenni Bowlin! These are SO beautiful!!! Thank you to our FABULOUS partners!!

When applying my butterflies, I added them to the page using Liquid Scrap Dots. By doing that, I was able to keep the wings in a lifted position... even once the page is in my album! They don't flatten out! Even the little ones... the liquid scrap dots dry clear and give the wings a little bit of lift... just as much as i want! I seriously LOVE that stuff!! Liquid Scrap Dots and butterflies... I think I'm in heaven!! :) So even once this page has been in an album for years... the wings to those little butterflies will still be raised... and i like that! :)

BOO!

I channeled my inner Martha today and decided to make my favorite frosting from scratch!  Growing up we usually had German Chocolate cake I think for everyone's birthdays!  Here's the frosting recipe I used!  I did cheat and make my cake from a box because I completely ran out of time.  I also saw on another blog that parchment paper works as a liner, especially for me because I can NEVER find cupcake liners in my Wal-Mart!  I took an extra step and made it crafty though.  You knew it was comin' right ;)  I sprayed toothpicks with Helmar's VC Vellum Adhesive and wrapped the coordinating tinsel and also used die cuts from Pink Paislee's newest Hocus Pocus line.  I then cut strips from my favorite paper of that line (wink, wink) and used my new Martha Stewart punch to make a unique edge.  I then wrapped my paper around my cupcake.  You could also mist your toothpicks if you don't have tinsel.

Somerset Memories Autumn 2010

 
Welcome October this is Gayle from Florida where the weather is finally starting to feel like fall.  What a welcome change for us!

Last week my copy of Somerset Memories Autumn 2010 arrived. This semi annual publication is full of wonderful ideas to record your memories and life time events. What every your favorite medium you are sure to find inspiration some where in this great magazine to motivate you to start your next project. This edition has even more creative articles to shoe you how the artist has created their projects.

 

 

With the hoilday season fast approaching why not think about some personalized gifts for your family you still have plenty of time to  put something together for the holidays. If  huge projects are  not in your plans you could try some small personalized tags for your holiday sweetness and goodie bags. I will be putting together some items later this month and I will post the items for you to see.

Below I am posting some of  my project in Somerset Memories Autumn 2010 feature Helmar Adhesives .

The magazine will be in all of your favorite stores this  week or you can order it on line from Stampington Studios.

 

 

The top project Reach For the Stars  is card board  that I glued random pieces of scrapbook paper on to the cardboard with Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner. I then  added texture and molding paste ove the top of every thing. Next I painted and Spritzed paint over the texturized surface .Shimmerz Paints-Pearlz in -Blue By U, Peas B Mine, Lucious Lilac, Blue in to Town, Carrot Top, This Spudz For U.

  I applied paint to a Donna Downey Foam stamp and applied it to the surface of the page.

 Both of these projects feature Helmar Adhesives-Helmar Adhesives- Helmar 450 Quick Dry,  Helmar Gemstone Glue, Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner and Helmar Zap Dots-

 

 

 Self Portrait Then and Now- The 1st photo is actually a photo that my dad is taking of the two of them. ( you can see part of his arm in the photo)

These two photo are of my parents and are actually in wooden boxes ( recycles Cigar Box lids)  that are attached so that one box is hinged above the other.  All of the interior contents are attached with Helmar Adhesives.

 The papers are antiqued and spritzed with paints to give a more finished look. I used Shimmerz Paints- Shimmerz in Concrete, Treasured Hymn and Baby's Breath

Playing around with some of the preferred partners products Hambly Screen Prints to allow the texture of the board to show thru.

I also added  bits and pieces of Pink Paislee thru out the page, the blue across the bottom is from an older collection. Most of the element on the page are from the Bayberry Collection.

 Just Us

  This page was put together with product that I won about a year ago in a contest. The page was put together with Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner, Helmar 450 Quick Dry and Helmar Zap Dots.

I won product from this company about a year ago and when I created this page I felt the paper was perfet for the photo. I had two sheets of this paper so I cut out element of the paper and raised them up off the main sheet of paper  with  Helmar Zap Dots.

Aren't We All Just A Bit Crazy Sometimes?

I know I am!  Life is too much fun to be bogged down in all work and no play.  I found this picture of my family and it cracked me up so much!  The mischevious look on my hubs face, my daughter's fake smile and why is my other daughter giving my hubs that look?  Crazy...that's all it is they're all crazy!

I had to document this photo using all of my all time favorite adhesives from Helmar USA.  I can't make a project, any project really without grabbing my Quick Fix Adhesive Runner, Zap Dots in all different shapes and sizes and 450 Quick Dry Adhesive 

I used my 450 Quick Dry Adhesive to extra adhere down all my lettering.  I hate it when my letters don't stay put on my project....don't you?

I used my Small Round Zap Dots to help the butterfly punched shapes pop off the page and I used the small square ones to use on the stamped image to give it dimension....have I ever mentioned before how much I love dimension...heh!

I had the privliedge of working with some of our amazing preferred partners in creating this layout!  All the patterned papers came from Pink Paislee as well as the tape and chipboard letters.  The corrugated letters are from Jillibean Soup.  The amazing stamps are from Unity Stamp Company {extra big swoon} and the glitter and ink are from Clearsnap.  I am a lucky, lucky girl to have such cool companies to work with!

The Witch Is In

Happy Tuesday Everyone! Aymee Gandy here on this beautiful day to share a 'bewitching' little giftbag and card I have created using some of my trusty Helmar Adhesives and products from a few of our preferred vendors. For this project, I used Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots, Helmar Premium Craft Glue, and the Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner.

 

I have created a 'witches broom' treat bag filled with a candy corn mixture for Halloween. To create this treat bag, all you need is a basic brown paper lunch bag. I just love paper lunch bags for crafting. They are so inexpensive and the possibilities are endless with them. Now, if you want a really tall 'broom' you can leave the lunch bag as is, but I decided I wanted a shorter broom. So I cut my lunch bag down to 7 inches tall. Once cut down, I opened up the bag and cut strips into the bag all the way around. You start at the top and cut down to the base of the bag. This will form the bristles of your 'broom.' Next, I filled a plastic goodie bag with a candy corn mixture, placed a wooden dowel in the center, and tied it off at the top with some twine. You will want to cut the wooden dowel to be long enough to stick out the top of the 'broom' in order to form the stick of the broom. I then placed this down on the bottom of the lunch bag. Next, you will want to gather up all of your 'bristles' and tie them off with a rubber band. This will be the base of your treat bag. All that you have left to do is embellish as desired. For my project, I used products from some of our wonderful preferred partners...Jillibean Soup, Elle's Studio, and Bella Blvd. Here is what I came up with:

 
To adhere the little card with the sentiment on it, I used Helmar Premium Craft Glue. I adhered the ribbon bow onto the card using Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots.

Now, to hide where I tied this together with a rubber band, I decided to twist some copper colored craft wire around. It just reminded me of the wire you see on those old fashioned brooms.

 
The ribbon is from Jillibean Soup, the die cut card from Elle's Studio, and the alphabet stickers from Bella Blvd.

 
I decided to make a little note card to match my treat bag. Patterned paper and alphabet is from Bella Blvd, die cut from Elle's Studio, and ribbon from Jillibean Soup. I used the Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner for the card. I also used Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots and Helmar Premium Craft Glue for my ribbon.

A Bond like THIS!!!

There was a time when our dreams felt so real

I'll tell ya, when you put Helmar Adhesives and Pink Paislee together, it amounts to more than I could ever say. Talk about a match made in heaven. These two are like Mutt and Jeff, two peas in a pod, Wren and Stimpy, Barney and Fred. Well you get the drift right? A combination like this doesn't have to wait for the planets to align in order to work fabulously together!

I paired a little Bayberry Cottage up with some 450 Quick Dry Adhesive to create this card and I love how it all works together. 450 Quick Dry Adhesive works super dooper great on metal. Those little vintage brads, the keyhole and the chain are all adhered using 450 Quick Dry Adhesive. No one can ever tell you this stuff ain't gonna last. It'll be left standing for a long time. Can't tear this down. Seriously, if you are looking for an adhesive that is easy to use and has amazing hold, 450 Quick Dry Adhesive is the answer.

 

Everything can be built from the ground up with Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive. A "bond" like this is hard to break.
