Snow Day

In my neck of the frozen woods, it's all snow and ice nowadays.  I do not profess any love for winter, as I can't escape it for the next 20 years until I retire, lol.  Once in a while, I get up the courage and photograph a thing or two in the snow, and a couple of years ago, I did just that of DD playing in the snow. 

I used Best Creation's Winter Wonderful line for this layout. I actually covered a chipboard piece from Best Creation with some patterned paper and added a Pure Innocence gal (Snow Day) in mostly blues.  I dare say that she looks so cute :) 

Helmar adhesives used are: Helmar Adhesive Runner, a must have in any scrapper's tool kit :) and my personal favorite (as I declare myself as the unofficial evangelist of this product), Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive. That stuff is ambrosia! lol.   

These photos are from two years ago. The quality of the prints were ghastly at best!  Seriously, her skin color is not even close to orange!  Needless to say, I will never go back to that printing service again!

It's that card making time of the year...

Happy Tuesday Helmar lovers. It's Cathy coming to you with a quick and easy card to get you motivated for making those Holiday cards if you haven't started already.  Today's project features the Helmar USA Zapdots.  This project is simple and yet elegant looking.

I picked my patterened paper and cut out a design from my Spellbinders Nestabilites that best suited my card and the stamps that I would be using. Once cut, I used the reverse piece of paper and I cut it down to fit the size card that I would be using. On another piece of paper I stamped my image. For this card I used two stamps made from Impress Stamps. Then I simply applied some of my Helmar USA Zapdots to the back of the patterned paper and applied it to the piece of paper that I stamped the image on.  I then wrapped a piece of ribbon around it and attached it with my Helmar USA  Quick-fix adhesive runner. I attached a tag that I stamped with a PaperTrey Ink stamp. After that was done, I then used some more of the Helmar USA Quick-fix adhesive runner  on the back of the "windowed" paper and adheared it to my card. Once it was all together I stamped my little pine cone's, cut them out and then applied some Helmar USA Zapdots to the back and put it on the branch and then your card is complete.

50 Years Wall Hanging with Helmar Guest Designer Julie Walton

This project is a fun one to give as a gift, basically a layout mounted on a 12 x 12 canvas which can be hung on a wall or propped on an easel.  I like to frame layouts too, but a canvas gives you the freedom of dimension and going over the edges.  You could do this type of wall hanging in any size and anyone would love to get it as a gift.   This wall hanging was a gift for a 50th wedding anniversary and will be cherished by all for some time to come.

 

Supplies needed:

• Canvas
• Papers and embellishments
• Paint
• Photos
• Adhesives -  I used the Helmar Tape Runner, Helmar Acid Free Glue, Helmar 450 Quick Dry and Helmar Zap Dots.

I have used most Helmar Products before my Guest Design gig here at Helmar, but a new one to me was the tape runner and I have to say that I am more than impressed, wow, it is applies so smooth and talk about hold!  It is one I will add to my repertoire!

First step:  Paint canvas

Second step: apply your base paper using the Acid Free glue, covering the entire surface, smoothing as you go.

Third step: Layer, Layer and Layer!  Use a combination of  the Tape Runner, 450 Quick Dry and Zap Dots to adhere your items.

Forth Step:  Add a length of ribbon to hang with.  I used the 450 Quick Dry to attach to the sides.

Fifth Step: Wrap and give as a gift!

a little handmade with the help of helmar...

Hi everyone - Leeann here - Today I am going to show you how I used the "Helmar Decoupage."

This is my youngest, baby Jorja and of course she just has to have all things cute on her pages!

I'm going to show you how I made this cute denim kite.

Here's the "Helmars Adhesives" I used to create this layout:

- helmar decoupage

- 450 quick dry

- zap dots

- helmar adhesive runner

....just a closer look at the kite!

Step 1: Cut a kite shape or any other shape you would like to use, out from assorted fabrics.

Step 2: Use your fingers and fray the edges.

Step 3: Now using the "Helmar Decouage"  paint the back of the shape/kite. Apply a couple of coats and allow to dry. This will stiffen you shape.

Step 4: Add extra detail to your shape by stitching, or stamp with paint etc.

Step 5: Now use a zapdot and place in the middle of shape/kite and adhere to layout.

 

...and here's those super important adhesives... without them my pages would fall apart!

Some Birthday Creating

Michelle here from Adelaide, South Australia..

I would say sunny Adelaide.. but the weather has been a little miserable today...

Bit of a change from the hot and sunny weather we have had here this week.

Well for the past few weeks my mojo has been running hot.. I have been busy here in my craft room creating up a storm with all my Helmar goodies. The hardest part has been working out which products to play with.

Here's what I created this time.

I created a card this time from some scraps of a layout I will show you in a few weeks. I just couldn't bear to throw away the scrap. My sisters birthday is coming up in a few weeks so it was a perfect opportunity to get organise and have it ready to pop into the mail for her.

This time I played around with some Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots, and some Zapdots to create some dimension on my flowers. I even added a little Helmar Acid Free Glue.

A little tip for you too... I mixed some Helmar Acid Free Glue to a little acrylic paint to make a stamping medium for my clear stamps... it helped the paint adhere to the glossy card base along with making the paint work better on stamps rather than just beading.

Back to the grind stone and get the card in the mail.

Playing with Helmar and Hessian

HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all my US family and friends!!! I really miss being there at this time of year and I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I got these hessian pieces from Canvas Corp at CHA Summer and I finally decided to make this banner with them! 

First I sprayed some strips of white crepe paper with some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist (Harvest Orange) and left that to dry. This was a great chance to use my Helmar fabric glue to adhere everything to the hessian and it worked perfectly! While waiting for the crepe paper to dry, I adhered these gorgeous little denim flowers to each piece along with some Kaisercraft die-cuts and paper. (and forgot to take a photo of this step!) 

When the crepe paper was dry, I applied Helmar adhesive runner along one side and then folder it over and twisted it.

 

I then cut it up to make the letters on my banner which I adhered to the hessian using Helmar fabric glue.

 

I was trimming the edges of the hessian and it just kept fraying so I thought I would try the Helmar Fray Stoppa on it, I have never used this product but it works like magic, I put it around all the edges and it set beautifully and I don't have to worry about it falling apart!

Liquid Scrap Dots- A scrappers dream

For years now, Helmar Liquid Scrap dots has been one of my favourite products. I love to add dimension to my layouts and projects, and Scrap dots is the perfect way to do this. I love that I can control the amount I use based on the size of the piece I am working with. I can also vary the height of my elements. 

On this layout, I did lots of fussy cutting from the Bella Blvd papers so that this would create the pattern rather than using large pieces of patterned paper. I used Scrap dots to lift all my pieces off the page, and to create height between the layers.

Also on this page, I used a chipboard title, that is fairly delicate, so to get a neat clean finish a spray adhesive like Helmar Spray Adhesive is perfect, you get the stickyness you need without any residue hanging over the tiny edges.

A Little Help from My Friends

Friends are truly one of the most amazing blessings we all have. We all have them and each one is different. From those friends that are great coffee talk girls, to the friends that if we did something illegal and ended up in jail, would be sitting right beside us. Sometimes it is easy the forget about the importance of the little things when it comes to friendship. The 5 minute phone call, the birthday card in the mail, or the email emoticon making silly faces.

Hey there everyone, Erika Taylor here (could ya tell by the lyrics?) and I'm stopping by on Black Friday to share a card I created using the Something for Everyone collection from Nikki Sivils. Thought it was the perfect pairing. I am sure there is something for everyone out at all the Black Friday events for sure. Something for Everyone is very much like a great group of friends, one for every occasion hehe. Whether you need that pick me up for a sad day, need the mojo for a crafty day, it's all there in this super sweet collection.  Now for the card, because we all know I can chat here forever!!!!

All those yummy layers of paper had a little help from a friend. Premium Craft Glue works so well with papers and I love the hold it gives. Better than an extra hold hairspray on a stormy day for certain. Add in a little dimension using the 1/4" black square Zapdots, and we've got ourselves a winning card to give to a friend that helps you get by. Yup, we all need a little help from our friends.
