Julie Walton presents Gift Journals

We welcome back our November Guest Designer, Julie Walton who shares some beautiful Holiday Gift Ideas.......

Hi there!  Julie here again with a great project that makes a great gift!  One thing I really like to make for gifts are Journals.  They are perfect gifts for teachers, hair dressers, friends, family and service providers that you like to remember with a special little gift.  You can create journals for any age, male or female, and use any theme, the sky is the limit!

I use the good ole fashioned black composition books you can get almost anywhere and if you pick them up during back to school time you can really score!  The books are typically under $1 even at regular price so they are the perfect alterable!  In my  experience everyone loves receiving these.

My project is featuring the pretty embossed glittered papers from Best Creation, custom epoxy shapes I created with my Epiphany Crafts Shape Studio and Helmar Adhesives.

 
I start out by measuring and cutting out the base paper for the cover.

The next step is embellishing the base paper.  This is done before adhering the paper to the book so you have the freedom to use items that pierce the back of the paper such as stitching, stapling, using brads, etc  and they will be hidden once you adhere the paper to the cover.

These type of books are handled a lot and take a beating so it is important to use good adhesives so that your embellishments are not knocked off.  I prefer to use the Helmar Adhesives because once you put something down with them they are not going anywhere!

On this book I used the Helmar Gemstone glue to adhere the gems and the pearl trim, the 450 Quick Dry to adhere the ribbon, the holly, the rose trim and the epoxy shapes, and the Acid Free glue to adhere the embellished cover to the composition book cover.

 
I always finish the inside cover and add a pocket to hold extra loose papers.  I don't use any dimensional embellishments on this inside cover so that the book will close and be reasonably flat.

 
I also finish the back cover, again a very simple coordinating design with no dimensional elements.  The inside back cover I usually leave as is because it has some helpful information about measurements, time tables, conversions, etc.

This is a super easy, fast and inexpensive project that I come back to time and time again and people ask for repeatedly!  I am happy that I have Helmar Adhesives to work with for these journals....they stay beautiful forever!!  Thanks Helmar!!

That one good thing? Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots!!! Yup Erika Taylor here today and I know I've said it before " Heaven in a Tube ", down right dreamy I say. Kinda like George Michael in that leather jacket, boots and denim jeans back in the day.... I think I'd still take him as a cabana boy, feeding me grapes and serving me frufru drinks by the pool with those little umbrellas. Applying some coconut smelling suntan lotion...Was that my outside voice? think I was daydreaming out loud there and shared it with all of our Helmar fans. Talk about getting to know this design team member right lol.Now you know, I had have a think for George Michael

Today I've got a canvas to share with you that I created using a bunch of Tattered Angels goodness. From Glimmer mists and Glimmer Glam, to Bingo Boards and crepe paper. All of these Tattered Angels products work so wonderfully with Helmar Adhesive. Now on with the show...

 

Look at al of those layers upon layers of goodness. The Tattered Angel Butterfly chipboard piece and all those leaves are attached to the canvas using Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots. I also used a bit of Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive as well on the Bingo board piece. And do you see that masked butterfly on the bottom right corner? I sprayed a light mist of V2 Vellum spray on the butterfly mask then sat it on the canvas before spraying with Glimmer Mist. Made for a perfect image afterwards. There is my little tip for the day, that one thing you just have to try. Works like a dream I tell ya. Then take a little Remove spray afterwards, to clean it off. Easy Peasy!! Yup gotta love Helmar, I Really Really want it to "stick" around.

Helmar and Fancy Pants!

Hi everyone!!!  I am so excited to share this layout with you today.  It uses papers and stickers from one of our preferred partners: Fancy Pants Designs.  

So here is my first layout:

 

This layout is really all about the story! I know it may be hard to read all my journaling so I will tell you about it. I was on a scrapbooking retreat last November in Utah. We were in a cabin in the mountains. We had a few deer that hung out around the cabin and it was just SO funny...being that we were a bunch of scrapbookers, when we saw the deer outside we would all run and grab our cameras. Then there would be like 20 gals out snapping (about 50) pics of the deer. I still laugh just thinking about it. But yes, I was among them (even though I see deer all the time). And yes, these are my pictures (hubby says they look like postcards or stock photos but I really did take them!).

Here are some close up's of my layout:

 

I primarily used Helmar's Premium Craft Glue, but I did use some clear Zapdots on those two blue stars. I don't know if you noticed, but that third star (in the middle) is cut from the sticker sheet...the part around the missing star sticker. And even though you can see thru it...you can't see the adhesive!  :)

Sweet Baby Girl

 

 

Happy Tuesday everyone. It's me Cathy, coming to you with a card that I created for a Sweet Baby Girl. What could be more meaningful then a hand made card put into a baby book for that child to see 20, 30 and even 40 years down the road. When creating cards that are sure to last it would be my guess that you would want to create a card using only the best adhesives. Helmar USA Adhesives are acid free and have the best and most secure holding power I have ever seen.

For my card I used  My Minds Eye patterned paper and applied it to my card using the Helmar USA Quick Fix Adhesive Runner.  I then put a tiny bit of Helmar USA 450 Quick Dry Adhesive to my ribbon and put it on the card. Using my spellbinder die, I cut out the die cut and poped it up with some Helmar USA Zapdots. Once that was done I took some of my Maya Road Alphabet Chipboard pieces and sprayed them with some Tattered Angels glimmer mist. When that dried I flipped over the alphabet letters and sprayed the back with my Helmar V2 Vellum Adhesive spray and for those of you that have gotten to know me here will know that this is one of my favorite products from Helmar USA. There is so much you can do with it! It's a must on your stuffing stocker wish list if you don't own it yet. My final embelishments were all put down using Helmar USA 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.

Fun and Quick

Hi there, It's Nicole again, just thought I'd drop in and share this fun and quick Layout I've done using Jillibean Soup,  it's of my youngest son Adam, he's only started getting teeth though and already knows what they are for. Likes chewing on EVERYTHING he can get his hands on.

 

 

 

First off sorry for the horrible photo below, I forgot to take a photo of my adhesives today, oops....

For this layout I used Helmar Quick-Fix Adhesive Runner,  Helmar 450 Quick Dry,  Helmar Crackle Medium and  Helmar Zap Dots (I do like the clear ones, add dimension but not a lot) 

I'll just run though a couple of upclose photos and the products I've used on them

I've used the black Helmar Zap Dots to pop up my journaling spots, little cut out pig and also the word sticker (I find by sticking my stickers on card and cutting them out I can position them easier, plus it gives them a little more stability)

 

LOVE crackle effects :) and using the Helmar Crackle Medium is just soooooo easy, I added quiet alot and I'm very happy with the results. Made sure I painted my chipboard first, you can run paint or ink into the cracks to highlight them more, I do like this subtle look though. I'm going to play around with it on paper and see what sort of effects I can achieve - stay tuned..... I also used my Helmar Quick-Fix Adhesive Runner on a few strips of paper and gathered them up for a fun pleated element, not too girly like ribbon usually is so perfect for my boys :)

 

My Helmar 450 Quick Dry would have to be my most well used adhesive, I've used it on this layout to attach my title, photos, and all those buttons. Love how it REALLY is Quick Dry :)

 

little bit of a detailed shot showing where I've used the clear Helmar Zap Dots on the sticker buttons, once again I've stuck them down on white card, cut them out and threaded string though them. Makes a sticker go from being a flat object to something a little more :)

Inspiration with a Sketch

I like to keep things super simple sometimes.  I went ahead and did a sketch as well so you can see where my madness comes from!  I would love to see if you use this sketch!

I used Paper Trunks- Rockabilly, Magistical Memories chipboard and die cut paper by Nicole Lombardo sprayed with Silver Foil Smooch and Gold Glow. I also used Helmar's 450 Adhesive around the edges of the chipboard then sprinkled Smooch glitter on the top. Helmar Zapdot's and Tape Runner were also used. Thickers Alpha as well.

Hi, Michelle here from Adelaide, South Australia..

Thought I would stop by to show you what I have been creating with some of my yummy Helmar products the Postie delivered earlier this week.

 
I have had all the bits and pieces sitting on my desk for this layout inspired by... from Two Peas in a Bucket for over three months now.

Life unfortunately life got in the way of creating..

Well... no more!

I was actually in the middle of creating this layout when my Helmar goodies arrived. Perfect timing I know!

After digging through the box to find some products to try out I found my new best "friend". Oh My Goodness.. when has this baby been hiding.. why have I not tried this before???

What you ask did I make "friends" with..

Well..

Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots of course!

This product is amazing.. and so much easier that what I was using previously. This layout involved adhering 2" half circles on the flat side all around the edge of the layout as a frame, making sure I didn't adhere the curved edge.

Now this layout was looking okay..

But needed something.

I then went along and curled each half circles upwards slightly and put a dab of Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots behind each one to give them dimension. Now because the half circles were already adhered to the layout using my trusty Helmar Adhesive Tape Runner, using any other medium would have been fiddly and messy due to the size of the circles. However using Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots made the whole process easy, less messy and very quick.
 
I must say also that my time was cut in half by using my Helmar Adhesive Tape Runner to adhere the half circles to my page. Just a run a strip all the way down the card stock base and away we go with sticking them all done. No fiddling with double sided tape at all. This also made adhering the middle row of half circle down too as I just popped a line of Helmar Adhesive Tape Runner on the half circle and that was it. No fiddling with double sided tape at all.

Just wanted to say a little "Thank you" also to a good friend of mine too for letting me use a photo of her daughter. I loved being able to scrap booking her again.

Helmar Play Time!!!

Hi everyone, Sherry Mendoza here! I am really happy to be a part of the Helmar DT and I was so excited when I got my box of Helmar goodies...the first thing I did was to take the lid off the can of Remove and clean my craft mat...see the before and after shots! I love this stuff!!!

I want to share this layout with you which I created about my son's first School day orientation. These Bella Blvd 'Midterm' papers and stickers were perfect for this project. I have used my Helmar Quick Fix Permanent Adhesive Runner tape to adhere the paper and my photos down. 

I love to add a bit of dimension to stickers, so I ahdere them directly onto cardstock, cut them out and then use Helmar Zap Dots to adhere them to my projects. This is what I have done with the 'learn' sticker in the centre of my layout. For the smaller 'journey' sticker I have simply cut a Helmar Zap Dot in half and adhered it directly on. I think the Zap Dots are my favourite adhesive!
