Hey yall! Happy Thursday! I hope you all are having a marvelous day so far! Helmar USA DT Member Aymee Gandy here with you today to share a card I have created using some of those awesome Helmar Adhesives! You'll have to excuse that corny title today...I'm in a silly mood! I'll be humming that tune all day. I want to show you how you can use Helmar to make a shaker card like this:
For this project I used Helmar Zap Dots (to add lots of yummy dimension and for the shaking mechanism), Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive (to adhere ribbon), Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots (to adhere a bow), and the Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner (to assemble my card). I just love my Helmar! It makes any project so easy!
Now, if you are not sure what a shaker card is, I'll try to explain it to you. A shaker card is where you have a 3-D element somewhere on your project and it is filled with anything from beads to confetti, or even dew drops (as I have used). When you pick up the card, you can shake it to make these move and it really is so fun!
For my shaker element, I used a window that I cut from my Cricut die cutting machine. I wanted my shaker pieces inside to mimic snow. Of course, you need some sort of clear material to go over the top of your shaker element so that the pieces do not fall out when you shake it. Acetate is great for this, but I did not have any. So I pulled out my Purple Cows laminator and laminated a 'hot pocket' to solve this problem.
Next, you will need some foam dots. Of course, Helmar Zap Dots are perfect for this. For my shaking element, I did not have much room to work with on the outer edges, so I cut my Zap Dots in half. Don't worry about what it looks like if it's a bit messy...no one will see it. You will want to completely line the edge of your shaking element so that nothing will fall out. Then you are ready to fill it up with any goodies. I chose some dew drops from The Robin's Nest for this. When you are finished, it should look something like this:
One you have filled your shaking element with the medium of your choice, you will then want to peel off the backing of the Zap Dots and cover so that your pieces will stay in place once the card is shaken. I shook up these a bit and layed my card down so you can see:
These shaker card really are so fun! I hope you will give them a try today!
Have a fabulous weekend and Happy Scrappin'!
