Hey! Becky Teichmiller here! Happy Christmas Eve! I hope you all have a fabulous weekend filled with wonderful memories!

I had this wagon for such a long time... since I was a kid! I kept it all these years and gave it to my kids to play with. Well, when it lost a wheel, I just threw it out. I couldn't help but think that I could reuse it somehow. So, I took it out of the garbage and brought it into my scraproom. I started to put my adhesives in it because it was right next to my work space. Then, when I was packing for a crop, I just threw more of my Helmar in there to carry them all together and it automatically became my Helmar Adhesive holder... I painted it at that crop (It was a red wagon!) and a year later I finally embellished it - LOL!! And it is now my Adhesive holder that I take with me to all my crops :)

See all the layers of lace trim? I adhered it with Helmar's 450 Quick Dry Adhesive! Can't tell where the adhesive is, right? That's because it dries clear! The 450 was perfect to use with that fine trim! Besides using the 450 on most of the other items I adhered to this, I also used Helmar's Liquid Scrap Dots aka Heaven in a bottle as Erika refers to them as ;) I used it on several items, but to just show you a few...

Here's the left wheel and the butterfly, you can see the globs of Scrap Dots under the butterfly and the bird:

 

Ok, and reason #176 why Liquid Scrap Dots ROCK... Not only will it pop the clock up off the wheel, but it also holds the stick pin in place! Here's a close up of the right wheel, I used the Scrapdots under the clock and then I slid one of the stick pins into the "glob" so that stick pin won't move ;)

The perfect song for Christmas right? A little Sound of Music in the HOUSE!!!! *fist pump*. Does a fist pump really go with the Sound of Music? hmmmm *pondering* Anyways. Erika Taylor here today with a "little note" for all of you using some of my favorite things. I so adore Magistical Memories chipboard and Fancy Pants Design papers. These two paired up to create a card for that little hello.

 

The chipboard pieces that I used are the Damask and Music Note Double. I first painted the Damask chippie with black soot paint dauber. The Notes were sprayed with Tattered Angels Glimmer mist then finished off with a little Distress Stickles. Aren't those papers super pretty? Guess I should show you the card first right?

See, I told ya the papers were pretty. They are from the Lilac House collection from Fancy Pants Design. I started browsing all the collections of Fancy Pants, and after realizing I have almost every one, I figured this company is now one of my top 5. Simply Dreamy I say!!! I added a few drops of golden sun, aka Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive, to the back of the Damask chipboard and had no time for even a little sip of "te" before it dried.  I also used some Helmar Zapdots for dimension and my trusty side kick the Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner.

 

What fun I have when I'm creating hehe. So for a little note, start at the beginning. A very good place to start...

A Quick and Easy Christmas Project

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone. Today I am sharing another quick and easy project for you all.

You will need a selection of patterned papers

A circle punch (assorted sizes OR the same) 

buttons

Some twine and

Helmar Premium Craft Glue

 The great thing about this project is that it is so easy. 

Start by folding in half

Start using the adhesive to glue halves together

Just before you add the last half add some glue in the centre and add the twine. You can use as many circles as you like. I used 5 or 6

 
And thats it! You could add buttons or use scallop edges, different sizes or shapes and as long or short as you like

Recently my fellow amazingly talented Helmar design team member Erika Taylor  put out a call to guest design for Really Reasonable Ribbon.  I, of course, jumped at this amazing opportunity!  I knew that all my adhesives by Helmar USA would be more than useful for all my projects. 

 

Here is what I made

 

All of these chipboard frames are staying put on my cardstock using Helmar Quick Dry 450 Adhesive and Zap Dots.  Dimension ladies...it's all about dimension!

 

 

 

 

 

This button also stayed put using Helmar USA 450 Quick Dry Adhesive!

 

Zap Dots gave me the much needed dimension for this title as well as some extra Quick Fix Adhesive Runner to the backing of the Thickers.  Sometimes those suckers lose it's oomph.  Helmar can fix that!

Too Much to do, not enough time

First off, OOPS. In the mad Christmas rush, I forgot my Blog Post date.....

Anyway, Hope you all are getting excited and not that badly rushed off your feet. We've had nothing but rain, rain and more rain of late over here in Australia. Not that I can complain, this time last year we were begging for rain :)

Onto why I am here I suppose ;)

 
a fun and cheeky Christmas Layout :)

I've used the following products

- Helmar 450 Quick Dry

- Helmar Vellum Adhesive

- Helmar Liquid Scrapdots

- Helmar Tape Runner Permanant

 

I've used a gorgeous range of papers and embellishments from Websters Pages for this. I do love this for a untraditional Christmas colour palette too. Looks quiet fresh

 

 
I'll just run you through where I've used the different products. Helmar Vellum Adhesive was applied to the vellum under the photo, love how this is so quick and easy to use. If you don't have this in your adhesive supply then I suggest you run out and grab a can of it.

 

My Helmar Tape Runner, again, is my most used tool. I've actually gone through 6 refills and while I was completing this layout I ran out of my last refill :( going to have to source some more. I love this to adhere my papers and my photos, even ribbon, holds it down PERFECTLY...

 

 
Next up is the Helmar Liquid Scrapdots, LOVE LOVE LOVE that this product allows varing degrees of height, I've put some under the bottom section of cut paper and also under my stamped quote, how fantastic that it dries clear so if there is a little showing around the edges you CAN'T see it :) Just that fact makes this product sell itself.

 

 
Finally...... my near empty bottle of Helmar 450 Quick Dry, again another FANTASTIC product. It works on everything, I've used it to adhere my ribbon flowers, the star spray, all the little trims and the string, I've used the most tiniest dots under the string and it doesn't look like its going to move.

Long Live Democracy!

I realize that we are all in the middle of the holiday season 2010, but I must say that I long for the end of the winter which is only four months away...  lol...  Meanwhile, I think back with such fond memories of the past summer, and the fun family trip we took. 

They call it America the Beautiful.  Nothing like a trip to the West and visiting various National Monuments and National Parks remind me just how beautiful this country and continent is.  On our summer trip, we also stopped by Mount Rushmore. It is an awe-inspiring Monument even if it is man-made because it is a vast symbol of democracy which is worthy of celebration every day and in every way!

These photos are taken at the Borglum Visitor Center.  The model depicts Mount Rushmore's intended final design.  It is obviously not completed per the final design.  I used Cosmo Cricket's Circa 1934 papers, Jenni Bowlin stars, and some Karen Foster Design's floss for this layout. 

 
The Karen Foster Design's floss is quite stiff, so I thought to create some movement by forming the floss with loops around the relatively rectangular layout (reminder: a square is a rectangle too :) ).  I first added the circles with Helmar's circle Zapdots.  Then I looped the floss around the stars. I then used Helmar's 450 Quick Dry adhesives to glue down the floss where it looped.  I simple squeezed out some glue onto the floss and held it down with my fingers until it was sufficiently dry.  Everything stayed put after I lifted my finger, so fabulous.  Now you go give this a try :)

A 'tree trio' Christmas table centerpiece........

Say that quickly 3 times!!!!! 

But I have just that, to share with you today.  They are ever so cute and I made 12 of these yesterday for our Christmas Dinner at Church. 

I will share with you how I did this!  Here is what they look like all made up on the Christmas tables.

 

Ok You will need- plastic bowls, 12 x 12 printed paper, Helmar Gemstone glue,  Helmar adhesive runner, Helmar 450 Quickdry, ribbons and beads and sequins mix, a beaded garland for a tree (which I had my kids cut apart for baubles on the largest tree.) and some smaller sized silver Christmas balls.

1.  I used half a 12 x 12 sheet for the larger tree.  I placed Helmar Adhesive Runner on the top corner to hold while i am rolling diagonally to keep as much height as possible.  Tack with more runner to secure as you roll your cones.  The second smallest- I just trimmed more off the botton to make it shorter, the smallest I cut a 12 x 12 sheet in quarters and rolled a quarter diagonally into a cone, making a fine tip at the top each time.  Just trim the bottom of your cones evenly to make them stand straight.

2.    For the tallest tree I just added the red beads from a beaded garland.  Add dots of Helmar Gemstone glue  all over the tree and hold the beads in place for a moment  (one at a time)to set up a little.  (The Gemstone glue stays tacky for a while allowing time to do this, but experimant a little!) 

3.    Trim the very tip of the tree to create a hole large enough for the neck of the ball to sit in and secure it with Helmar 450 Quickdry glue, I also glued the silver string I cut off of the ball, around the neck of the tree, to hide any excess glue spilling out from under the Ball.

4.     Glue the bottom of the tree to the Plastic Plate.  Helmar Quickdry 450 Glue will do the trick.  Just hold it in place for a moment and set it aside.

5.  For the middle sized tree I painted the gemstone glue in sections quite liberally, then immediately rolled the painted area in the bead/sequin bix and it held all the tiny bits on securely.  Hardly any came off once dry.  (My NEW favourite glue in the Helmar range!!!!  Love, love, LOVE this glue!!!!)

6.  To finish off this one I tied a ribbon in a bow and glued it to the top with Helmar 450 Quick dry.  Perfect for the bond between paper and fabric.  Add glue to the bottom of the tree and hold in place once again on the plastic plate to secure.

7.  For the smallest tree I sprayed it lightly with a shimmer mist.....I used Shimmerz Spritz 'Babys Breath' To add some glimmer.  I punched out some butterflies and glued two back to back with the very tip of the tree sandwiched in between.  Glue this one to the Plastic plate creating your tree trio!

8.  Last of all, Glue some tinsel around all three trees, using a good 'Line' of Helmar 450 Quickdry all around the edge of the plastic bowl.  Press down periodically to secure!

Place your center piece in the centre of your christmas table to be admired!

Oh Christmas Tree...

Just over one week and counting until the big day!!! I am so excited for Christmas!! I am almost finished shopping ... but have yet to start wrapping! Can you tell it's going to be a nutso week around my place for the next 7 days!! :)

I am usually a layouts only kinda gal. I rarely enjoy projects that do not include photo's and journaling. But this year... the home decor bug has bitten me bad! I have had a complete blast making Christmas decorations! Wreaths, tree ornaments, miniature trees!! Loving it! Today I want to share with you a SUPER simple tree that I created using some Walmart finds and the fabulous Helmar adhesives!

I have been enjoying seeing all of the different ways people have been designing the mini styrofoam trees this year! It got my creative juices flowing... here is what i came up with!

I began with a basic middle sized styrofoam tree. I used 2 meters of eyelet lace from Walmart. I began at the bottom applying Helmar 450 quickdry to the lace and adhering it to the tree. I wound it around in a spiral motion... moving upward until I reached the top. I made sure to leave a decent space between the rows, not worrying about leaving a bit of a gap. I then went to work with the buttons!! Again... from Walmart! I applied lots of Helmar 450 quickdry between the rows of lace and adhered a row of buttons. From bottom to top, just like with the lace! So simple!

While this was drying, i grabbed a clear acrylic star and sprayed it with V2 Vellum Adhesive. After letting it sit for about 5 minutes to get tacky, I sprinkled both sides with PK Glitz glitter! I painted a short length of wooden skewer with white paint and let it dry as well. To adhere the star to the tree, I split one end of the painted skewer and inserted the star. The other end of the skewer was inserted into the top of the tree! Easy Peasy!

On the bottom of the tree I added a double tier of 1/2 inch round Zap dots to give the tree a little bit of lift off the table.

And that is it!! It looks so elegant sitting on my piano amongst the greenery and holly berries!
