I'm so glad we had this time together......

I'm so glad we had this time together, just to have a laugh and sing a song. (with Erika) Seems we just get started and before you know it, comes the time we have to say "so long".

                                            

How many of you are familiar with Carol Burnett and this song? I hope more of you then not because that would mean I'm really old and that would be bad. UGH!

Hello everyone! I want to first take this time to tell you all what a joy this past year has been and how much I have enjoyed working with you all here at Helmar USA. I've been inspired by each and everyone of you. Thank you all for taking time from your day to come here and read our posts and commenting on them. It means so much to me as well as all the other designers.

For my final post I'm going to re-visit a old yet new project that I have done before. This is my 2nd printer tray that I have done and I really loved creating this one just as much as the first one that I did back in this post from May of last year. If you haven't made one yet, get one and create away. The possibilities are endless. This entire tray was created using Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.

                                                          

 I love New Orleans and I hate Birthdays, so I personally think that they are a great combo. What a better gift to myself then to get away to a place that is filled with fun and great food every year. About 5 years ago I met Angie in New Orleans and we have formed a really close bond. Her birthday is the day before mine so every April we meet for a long weekend and share laughs together. I made this tray for her.

                  

 

I love to go to Antique malls and find old post cards. You can see several of them that I cut out and used as my back ground photos here. Some of them were from the 1040's and its kind of sad to cut them. One of the things that all of these post cards had in common was the writing on the back that said "the food is great" and still to this day, TRU DAT!

OK, so here comes the fun part and it was an after thought so please excuse the lack of photos and the quality of them. I will do my best to explain the process.

So I had to wrap it to give to her but I also had to be TSA smart. I didn't want to get to the airport and have them make me un-wrap it. So here is what I did.

Supply list... Box, craft wrapping paper, stamp of your choice, Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive, and Helmar  V2 Vellum Adhesive spray.

I took an old Christmas box that I had in the basement and opened up the top cover so that it was flat.  I then pulled out the Craft wrapping paper to the size of the lid. After that I sprayed the side of the box that I would be using with the Helmar V2 Vellum adhesive and laid it down on the craft paper.

                                           

Once the box top was secured I used my X-acto knife to cut out the top from the paper exactly the way the form of the box is.

 

The next step is to take your stamp and decorate the cover.

 

I chose a Fleur de Lis as my stamp.

When the stamping was done I then glue back the corners of the box with my Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.

And this is what I got...

I was really excited about being able to create my own wrapping paper and thanks to Helmar USA I was able to do that.

Signing off with a publication

Hi Hi, this is my last ever post as a Helmar designer :( Huge congratulations to all the new girls and the girls that were lucky enough to be re selected. I didn't reapply, in fact I've decided to take a wee little break from scrapping for awhile.

 

I do have something fabulous to share though :) I was incredibly lucky to have a layout published in the current issue of Creating Keepsakes (with, of course HELMAR listed) I used 450 Quick Dry, Scrapdots and Permanent Adhesive Runner so below is my layout as it appears in the magazine too :)

A Layout and some cardstock roses....

Hi Lovely Helmar addicts.

I have a Layout for you today using Lots of Helmar Adhesives and CORE'DINATIONS Cardstock.

Core'dinations cardstock is famous for their coloured core.  It is amazing cardstock to work with!

I primarily used Premium Craft glue on this page, but the roses work well with 450 Quick Dry, purely because it dries a little quicker.

I always add Helmar glue to the back of any already adhesive letter stickers, because they are notorious for falling off after time.  But if you reinforce the letter stickers with Helmar glues they will never come off.

 

I added tiny drops of craft glue and adhered the string down only at the 'crossover points'.

Adding 450 Quick dry to lace works particularly well.  It is designed perfectly for use with fabrics and you can't see it at all, and of course it holds securely without warping the page.

 Premium Craft glue holds metal really well too.  I added it to the back of this flattened and embellished bottle cap, and its on good. (I would not be able to pull it off without making a hole in my cardstock!!!!!)

AND......here is a quick HOW TO on how I did the Cardstock Roses.

They are super easy and very quick to make.  And they are very cute!!!

Hope you will try out these fabulous glues and techniques.  Helmar really does make crafting easy!

As Seen in Scrapbook Trends March 2011

 If you have the new Scrapbook Trends you'll notice on page 85 a layout that's full of Helmar!  The layout was based on a sketch that I did and I would *LOVE* to see what you come up with using the same sketch!

I mixture of products here! Webster's Pages, Scribble Scrabble, Cosmo Cricket, Jillibean Soup, Crate Paper, Sass, Thickers and Magistical Memories. Helmar's ScrapDots for dimension and Quick Adhesive runner.

3 adhesives i HEART....

Well gidday it's me again .... today I whip up this page using 3 adhesives that I heart ...

1: helmars 450 quick dry

2: scrap dots in a tube

3: tape runner

I used the "tape runner" to  hold my scraps of paper and photo's in place then I machine stitched - the reason I machine stitch is because I LOVE the look and the texture it gives.

I used the "450 quick dry" for my bigger embellishments as I want them to stay there - handmade carrot pin toppers and more hand dyed doilies.

I used "scrap dots" for added dimension felt ducks and black paper corner.

a little mobile making with helmar crackle 1 and 2...

Hi helmar fans... and "Happy Easter" to you all .... I hope that bunny was good and there was plenty of chocolate left for all!!!

So today I wanted to share with you a semi quick project using "Helmars crackle 1 and 2 steps"... seriously so easy to follow!

This cute little mobile is for jorja's room. I've used some itty bitty and mini doilies which i hand dyed using a permanent fabric dye. A  wooden hoop some buttons,  gesso, chalk, a little bit of "HelmarsDecoupage" and my sewing machine.

Step 1: Gather all your supplies and start by priming the wooden hoop with gesso. Allow to dry.

Step 2: Gather all the dyed doilies and use you sewing machine to stitch them in a garland fashion - make sure you space the doilies out.

Note: Leave plenty of thread at the start and finish of the doily train.

Step 3: Now space out the doily train and wrap the thread around the inside piece of the wooden hoop. use a little "Helmars Decoupage" to seal the thread that's been wrapped around the inside of the hoop.

Note: I used a coloured cotton  so if you wish to use a colour cotton also but don't wish to have the thread stand out. Touch it up with a bit of white paint.

Step 4: Apply "Helmars Crackle Step One" to the outside hoop. allow to dry for 10 to 20 minutes. It remains a little tacky once it's dry. now apply "Helmars Step Two"  and  allow to dry.

Step 5: Give it a light sand all over.

Step 6: Now here's something that's probably sitting at the back of your shelve growing cob-webs... lol I know mine was. Go on grab that CHALK... and a cotton bub...now simply rub the chalk all over the wooden hoop that you have crackle. Keep applying the chalk until, you have the desired colour. I know amazing  yeah..... lol who would have thought!!!!

 

...see the photo below the end result on the hoop ...AWESOME!!!!

 

 

Step 7: Now just piece the hoops together.  Use 4 /15 inches of ric rac and bow tie around the hoop to hang. Gather into centre and knot add some buttons and a silver ring clasp.

At the bottom of the doily train ends thread some buttons to finish it off.

..... and here it is the to cute project  "itty bitty doily mobile".... too cute!
