Good morning all! My name is Leanne and I'm so excited to get to share with you my very first Helmar project!! This week we have partnered up with Lawn Fawn for a fun filled week of great projects using Helmar and the oh soo, sooo cute Lawn Fawn stamps! I had the pleasure of getting to work with the Just My Type set and oh my, this set is ADORABLE!!  I also got to use some great Helmar products!  The picture below shows which Helmar products I used in making this card... 

 

 

I have to admit I'm a first time user (ok, I'm talking GLUE people bahahaha) and I can tell you I have found a new love (shhhh don't tell the hubby) and it's Helmar adhesive's!! I love the 450 Quick Dry and used that to glue my flower and button. I love the fact that it dries clear and dries quick! To attach all my layers to the card, I used the double sided adhesive runner. I know now the layers are not going anywhere and gives me a piece of mind that when this card reaches it's destination it looks just like it did when it left here! The last of the three products I used was the Liquid Scrap Dots and I was just simply amazed at this product!! Even before I made the Helmar design team, I had read many great reviews on this and now that I personally have gotten to use it...everything I read was ABSOLUTELY the truth! I used it on the push pin where the area was to small for a zap dot.

 

I heat embossed (using Zing embossing powder) the cute typewriter, sentiment and push pin onto black card stock. I added some crystal gems to the keys to bling them up a bit using the I-Rock tool. The ribbon, flower, and button are from my stash. The notebook paper is from my scrap stash and if I remember correctly came from Hobby Lobby. I added some faux stitching and that completes my card!

I want to say THANK YOU KELLY, owner of Lawn Fawn for giving me the privilege of playing with your stamps!! They were so fun to work with and can see me using them over and over!! Also, THANK YOU TRACY for this amazing opportunity to be part of this design team and to be able to use the best adhesive on the market!! I'm going to wrap this up by also saying that I hope I have inspired you

Helmar and Lawn Fawn ~ only goodness!!!!

I thought I was finished with math when I left school, but Helmar has taken me right back to the basics. I am privileged to be a part of Helmar's design team and I was more than thrilled to plug their products as there is nothing on the market that can touch their quality. But then, Helmar partnered with Lawn Fawn  photopolymer clear stamps and can you say wow????? I was blown away when I received Fawn Lawn stamps in my box. Not only are the graphics clear and crisp, they are so unique.  So ~

I had so much fun doing this layout!!! The sweet little images are from the Swim Suit Season Stamp set by Lawn Fawn.  I used the Helmar Professional Acid Free Glue with a wet paint brush to adhere the images to my layout.  It works great and you get glue only where you want it!!

 

I made a folder for the journaling.  The tag slips {from under the beach ball} to be read.  I used Bazzill cardstock behind the beautiful pattern paper by Nikki Sivils!!

 

Here is a close-up of the folder and the fabulous water images!!  I stamped them on the pattern paper and then with my detail scissors cut them out!   I added some machine stitching also~

  

I was thrilled when I saw the beach ball in the Lawn Fawn set because I knew I had these pictures that would be perfect!! Love it when that happens~

 

I used Helmar's Zapdots to add dimension to some of the beach balls.  The pattern paper is by Nikki Sivils~super cute!!!  The dew drops by The Robin's Nest looked so cute on the beach ball's adhered with Helmar's Gemstone Glue.

Helmar Ambassador is back with Beachy Fun!

I found that I had a bunch of plain white board books laying around. I wanted to try out my new paint daubers from Jenni Bowlin to see what would happen. I then used Helmars Crackle Medium product on top and loved the way that it turned out, so I had to keep on going with it! I don't have any photos for the inside yet, but at least the front is done! I also used Kaiser pears, Shimmerz- Sunset Strip and MME Twine. As far as adhesives I used Helmars- Gemstone Glue, Zapdots and Liquid Scrapdots. The Liquid scrapdots works great for those little embellies that you want to add depth to. You're able to use as much as you want and it dries clear! I tried to get a close up so you guys can see how it dries.

21 Days 'till Dad's Day!

Hi there Helmar fans, Carole here again. Can you believe it's almost June already! It's time to start thinking about all those Dads and Grads. I thought I'd get a jump start on things this year and start making my Father's Day cards. In our family there are four father's to honor. I have two father-in-laws, my own dad, and my sweet hubby. Do you make your own cards for these special occaisions? I only recently started making more cards. I can't stand the thought of paying upwards of five dollars for a card when I can make something myself that is personalized! The card I'm sharing with you today was made using Helmar's Acid Free Glue, Helmar Zap Dots, and some Helmar Scrap Dots.

I used Helmar Acid Free Glue to create the little paper bead on the rope. I also adhered everything down to my card base with the acid free glue, including a small dot of glue on the dog's nose to apply some black flocking.

The oh so fabulous Helmar Scrap Dots was used here to raise my letters and I love how easy Scrap Dots make it to add dimension to finely cut letters. It's also nice not to have to dice up my Zap Dots so I can save them for larger elements.

So will you be making some Father's Day cards someday soon? I hope so, men like homemade gifts too and it's a good reason to bust out the glue stash and play!! My only problem ever in card making is...now how do I fit into the envelope? Hahaaha!

Butterflies

Another share this month from me.. Michelle,

This month has been a busy one for me on both a personal front and a scrap booking front.

With lots of scrap booking deadlines to adhere to and birthdays/mothers day/ starting preschool and general life with a family time has had to managed well.

This month was my Mum's birthday. Every year it gets harder to work out what to buy her. Not that I don't know what she likes just that she doesn't really like getting given gifts. She is the type of person that gives to others but finds it hard to receive.

This year however she came to me with a gift in mind. I was jumping for joy when she told me that she wanted to to make another canvas for her of my sisters children to go with the other canvases I have already made her (her wedding and one of my children). She was in no rush to get it she said but that was like giving a bull a red rag! I couldn't wait to get started.

I bought a 12" x 14" canvas and got to work. Originally my Mum wanted to use the same paper I had previously and provided me with an old photo of my sisters kids. Well my sister and I got sneaky... My sister emailed me a recent photo and I changed the colours of the paper to suit. The paper also just HAD to be used as it featured my Mum's favourite thing, butterflies!

I had so much fun playing around with the base of the canvas. I used some Helmar Crackle Medium firstly. Then I adhered and layered patterned paper and doilies using Helmar Decoupage Medium. It made adhering the paper so much easier using my Helmar Glue Spreader too for an even surface.
 
Because of using the Helmar Decoupage Medium when I stamped the music image onto the background it had a slightly glossy look which really makes it stand out.
 
I also used a combination of Helmar 450 and Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots to adhere the banner and other embellishments down to create dimension. I have used SO many different Helmar products on this canvas that it isn't funny!

I was full of Helmar Adhesives, glimmer mist and paint that night when I went out.. but damn it felt good to get my hands dirty!

Welcome with a little sewing box

Hi Everyone
This is Mandy signing on for my first post for Helmar and thought I would share one of my favorite creations.  I love altered art or off the page projects, where I can combine fabric and papers and all kinds of trims.  All the places where you know you need Helmar's adhesives to make it work.  

Helmar's Quick Dry really does dry quickly, I admit to having no patience in waiting for anything to dry.

 

This sewing box was based on an exploding box, or a box inside a box inside a box.

Am excited to be joining the Helmar team, as you can see I use lots of the product. Looking forward to getting to know everyone here in the world of Helmar and finding fun new things we can do with adhesives.

It's Clearly Christmas Time To Me!!!

I love Christmas, but not necessarily for the reasons you may think! It's the pretty paper and decorations that gets my attention. Today, I'd like to share the Helmar products that transformed simply tissue wrapping paper into a unique embellishment feature for my layout.  

 
The first product I needed was the Helmar V2 Vellum Adhesive.

 
The second product I required was the Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots (one of the many Helmar products that I can't live without!!!)

 
Last Christmas, my DH purchased me a gorgeous carry bag. But the best part of that gift, was the beautiful aqua blue polka dotted tissue paper that it was wrapped in. Do you know he actually tried to throw it out? Yes, you can just imagine me yelling "DROP IT!!!!". He wanted to know why I wanted to keep it. Sigh! They just don't get it, lol!!! Anyway, I wanted to use the tissue paper, but I wanted it smooth and firm, and not just glued to the cardstock/paper background.  
So I grabbed a piece of transparency, sprayed it with some Helmar V2 Vellum Adhesive, and adhered my piece of tissue paper, smoothing it down gently. Once it was dry, I simply cut around the shape I wanted, and adhered it to the page with Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots so that it could be raised without white dots showing through underneath (it is semi-opaque). It was that easy to make my own unique embellishment. I then decorated with pearls, tags, chipboard stickers, and buttons (which I adhered with Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive).

 

I finished off my layout with a FUN chipboard banner in the corner, and a little coloured twine. With the twine underneath the chipboard stickers, I knew they wouldn't sit flat on the page. So I simply added a small amount of Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots to each chipboard letter, and then adhered it to the twine and page. This kept the letters balanced and even, so that it looks like a real banner, hanging from above.

So who says Christmas is all about the gifts? In this case, it's the wrapping paper that counts...

Reused, Recycled, and Remembered...

Hey Everyone!

It's good to be back with my 2nd Helmar post, and this time I have a little project I did for my pre-schooler's end-of-the-year teacher gift.   I tell you what, it was hard letting ALL my babies go to preschool but there is something even more bittersweet about the baby of the family heading off.   She could not have been in better hands this year.  Her teacher, Ms. Nadine, was the kindest, most caring and wonderful teacher and I knew our decision to put her in this school was a good one- she was right where she should be :)

I had this blank chipboard mini album from along with some leftover papers from a class I took at a scrapbooking store YEARS ago.  The only thing that I discovered when I opened the book?  SCORE- the inside pages had been done already, LOL!  I must have started this for something and never finished it, so I reused and RECYCLED it for something to truly be remembered...

I wanted to do something special for her teacher, so I decorated the cover with some chipboard/fabric stickers with our school year and glued the MAYA ROAD felt flower onto the cover using Premium Craft Glue: 

For the inside cover, I used more Premium Craft Glue to glue on the flowers/buttons.  I found this poem, called "Why God Created Teachers".  I apologize, I do not know who this poem was written by:

"WHY GOD MADE TEACHERS” 
When God created teachers, 
He gave us special friends 
To help us understand His world 
And truly comprehend

The beauty and the wonder 
Of everything we see, 
And become a better person 
With each discovery. 

When God created teachers, 
He gave us special guides 
To show us ways in which to grow 
So we can all decide 

How to live and how to do 
What's right instead of wrong, 
To lead us so that we can lead 
And learn how to be strong. 

Why God created teachers, 
In His wisdom and His grace, 
Was to help us learn to make our world 
A better, wiser place...

Lighting up with Helmar

I have had this little lantern sitting in my scrap room after buying it a few weeks ago at our local hardware store. It is one of those outdoor lanterns made of metal, and I thought it would be so lovely to alter.  So last night I thought hmmm why not alter it with  Helmar?

 So I got my  Helmar 450 Quick Dry and got to work.

I first started off by embossing with White Embossing powder on the handle and top half of the lantern.  

I then took my Helmar 450 Quick Dry and adhered some fine netting to the bottom prior to tying a bow in it.  As you can see in the photo some of the glue did bleed out.  All you need to do when that happens is run your finger, or a wipe over it to get rid of the excess.  I love Helmar 450 Quick Dry for materials that are fine such as netting or organza as it doesn't show a wet spot when dry like other adheasives.

I then took my  Helmar 450 Quick Dry and started to adhere the embellishments to the lantern, starting with some beautiful vine crystals from Prima.  I simply held the pieces in place for a minute so they adhered exactly where I wanted them to stay.  The  Helmar 450 Quick Dry dries so quickly it is perfect for such an application.  

You can even adhere them to the edge of the photo by running a fine line of glue along it and then holding the wire to it for a minute.  You can see this effect in the photo of the finished project below.  I just love the soft glow from inside where I had the tea light candle lit.

The glue is so great you can't even see any traces of it.  All of the flowers and chipboard pieces were adhered with my  Helmar 450 Quick Dry.  The Metal embelishments were adhered with  Helmar liquid Scrap Dots, as I don't think anything is stronger for metal!  

Below are some more detail photos showing the differerent embellishments that were adhered with  Helmar 450 Quick Dry.

Of course after I photographed it I wasn't quite happy with it so I went back and added a few more flowers, some punched out greenery and some Scrapware Chipoard that was coated in Gesso and then rubbed with Antique Gold Rub n Buff to give the look of an antique plaster cast piece.  Being Chipboard, adhereing it with Helmar 450 Quick Dry was a breeze.


I really love this piece... now just need to find a place to hang it in my home.
