Hello Helmar readers!
I am so excited today to share with you my very first post as a Helmar USA Design Team member. I have to say that I am honored to be here with so many amazingly talented ladies. Gushy stuff aside now, today I am going to share with you a project that is dear to my heart because it is one I made for my son. His birthday is coming up and I made him some invitations that are out of this world!
Now these are very simple to make... but I think they look great and let me tell you they were a HUGE hit with the kids as he passed them out.
Step1: Print out invitation info on a ¼ sheet of silver/gray or vellum cardstock.
Step 2: Adhere with Helmar Quick-Fix Adhesive Runner or Helmar V2 Vellum Adhesive depending on what paper you use.
Step 3: Cut cardstock in various colors (I used a shimmery CS and glittered cardstock works great too to give it that lighted look) to 6" x 11.5
Step 4: Add a strip of shinny foil tape along the bottom like a large sticker (see the example in the lower right). Use your bone folder to smooth out any creases or bubbles in the foil.
Step 5: Using your Helmar Quick-Fix Adhesive Runner secure the colored cardstock to the rest of the paper towel roll right above the invitation info sheet.
Step 6: Cut four strips of black cardstock into ¾” x 7”. Secure a strip with your Helmar Quick-Fix Adhesive Runner along the bottom of the invitation info sheet, covering the ½” of the paper towel roll you left visible when adhering the invitation sheet earlier.
Step 7: Do the same as step six with another strip of black cardstock but this time, adhere it with the Helmar Quick-Fix Adhesive Runner over the seam where the light saber blade color meets up with the top of the invitation section.
Step 8: Cut a piece of the foil ½” x 7” and center it on the third and fourth strips of the black cardstock.
Step 9: This time using Helmar Zapdots (black) adhere four of them evenly around the black cardstock strips already attached to the invitation.
Step 10: Adhere the strips in Step 8 over the Helmar Zapdots (black) and glue closed in the back using your Helmar 450 Quick Dry. You can see how this should look when it is done in the photo below. With this angle you can see the Helmar Zapdots (black) just under the accent strip we have been talking about in these last few steps. They help make this project more realistic... as realistic as you can get when making a future weapon our of paper... LOL.
Step 11: Embellishments: The button is really just a red button with some black shinny puff paint in the center. I used Helmar 450 Quick Dry to adhere the button then added the puff paint. If you wish to add the grip accent use the Helmar 450 Quick Dry because it bonds so quickly and dries clear!
I hope you enjoyed my first project. I really love working with Helmar's products and making my kid's the most unique invitations to their parties. I use Helmar so much when party planning and creating decorations too.
If you create invitation with Helmar please post a photo on Helmar's Facebook Page. We would love to see your works of art and be inspired by your designs too.
Thanks for reading and viewing my designs.
