Out of this World Mini Album!

 
Yay!! It's Friday!! Another week behind us and I'm ready for the weekend! Hi, Leanne here! Hasn't this week just been filled with awesomeness from the designers?!! I know I have enjoyed it! I've just been soaking in all the inspiration from everyone's great projects! As you already know, we were given some really cool paper to work with from Best Creations, Inc. This is my first time getting to work with this company's paper but let me just say they are adorable! Along with Helmar's adhesive, this mini was really fun to make!

 
 

I had a ball making my cover to the album! I used acrylic paint, Helmar Crackle Step 1 & 2, and sealed it with Helmar's Antique Acrylic Sealer to get this fun look!  I used Helmar's 450 quick dry to glue everything down. I wanted to make sure that all the pieces would stay secure for years to come and with Helmar 450, as Tracy would say...there's a right tool for everything and in this case 450 quick dry is the tool to turn to!! It gets the job done and you know it's there to stay hee hee! I used some really cool foam pieces and my cricut to create the cover! Now lets look at the pages inside my album...

 
Isn't the paper line adorable?!?! It just screams little boy with the robots and spaceships! I love the colors also, just so bright and cheerful! For these two pages, I used Helmar's Acid Free Glue to adhere the card stock and pattern paper down. To add some dimension to the page, I used Helmar's Zap Dots under the little gears that I cut using my cricut. I didn't glue the ribbon down so it would be easy to go back and add a photo.

 
Here are the next pages. I've kept this album really simple to show how adorable this paper line is. Again, same as above, I used Helmar's acid free glue to adhere the paper down. I used zap dots under the little alien and the star to pop them up! I needed something to glue my googly eyes and the dew drops down so I turned to Helmar's Gemstone Glue for those! It doesn't cloud with dry!

 

I really started to leave these pages completely along and not do anything at all to them!  I decided to go ahead and make small photo mats that I also used some Zap Dots for dimension. I hated covering up anymore of this paper than I had to hee hee!

 
Here are the last two pages of my album! This mini was so fun to put together! I really hope that you have enjoyed it! Making Cards with Best Creation & Helmar!

I hope you are enjoying this week paired with Best Creation Inc as much as I am! I have absolutely LOVED visiting both DTs this week and being completely blown away each day. When I got these papers to play with I was in love with both lines. It was awesome to see such a beautiful pink girly line and then a fun bright boy line. They both have this amazing glitter to the pages that is completely coated so it doesn't get everywhere!!! I am definately a new & excited fan for Best Creation Inc paper - its quality is superb!!!

 
For my first card, I just had to cut into that beautiful Ballet Princess line! I love anything girly - must have to do with having 2 girly girls of my own! And I had just picked up this sentiment stamp a couple days ago which was just begging to be paired with this cutie patootie! I love how you can see all the glitter in the picture. Sometimes it's so hard to photograph! For the crown and tulle on the image I used Helmar Gemstone Glue to apply the glitter. Now, the way I've found the best to apply this to small areas is to paint it on using a paintbrush. It's so easy and I know I'm getting the glue exactly where I want it to be and nowwhere else. I am addicted to using the gemstone glue with glitter because it holds it really well and because it dries clear it's still so shimmery which is what you want when using glitter!

 
I love being able to show you where I used the product on my card. I love this pretty satin and tulle ribbon and Helmar 450 Quick Dry is the perfect adhesive to attach it to my card. I don't sew on my cards - I'm too lazy so I love how it looks stitched on the card even though it isn't! Shhh, our little secret. haha I used two different sized zap dots for my sentiment and image so they would have a bit of different height.

 
My 2nd card was a no brainer for me! My hubby is an engineer and the Robot Line was perfect to create a fathers day card for him!!! I started with one of the journaling pieces with the gears on it and built it from there. The yellow paper was perfect design for the shirt & I added Helmar Zap Dots to give it some dimension! I used Liquid Scrap Dots for the laser chipboard gears which is just perfect for intricate designs like this that you still want to give dimension to. For the paper since I used most of it that does have the coating on it, I used Helmar Craft Glue to adhere together. I am thrilled with the outcome and cannot wait to give it to my hubby on fathers day! I'm so proud of him and this card is everything that he is.

The Circus Is In Town!

My life is like a circus everday!!! Seriously, lol! So it seemed obvious to use Best Creation's new "Loops And Scoops" range to celebrate this. I guess you could say I'm not a traditional mother - after all, what sort of mother lets her children go swimming in winter? Yep, that would be me, lol! I want my children to be brave, adventurous, and celebrate life, not to be conformed by social expectations of how life should be lived. So I created this layout to remind my daughter's to celebrate life, and to live life to the fullest.

 
For the majority of this layout, I used the Helmar Permanent Adhesive Runner to adhere my papers and chipboard to the cardstock. It's amazing how quick and easy this makes the whole process (especially since I am one of those scrappers that hates getting sticky stuff on my fingers, lol!).

 
 
To add dimension to my stickers, I used the Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots. This carousel horse looks so much more effective raised off the paper, than stuck flat on the layout. And you can't even see where I use the Liquid Scrap Dots on the thin part of the pole. Brilliant isn't it! I absolutely love Liquid Scrap Dots, and cannot scrap without it. I always, always have several tubes on hand because I use it so often. Because I scrap nearly every day, I go through a tube within a couple of weeks.

 
  
To add glitter to my title, I simply covered the Amercian Craft Thickers with Helmar Acid Free Glue, then sprinkled fine blue glitter over the top. Once it was dried, I simply tapped off the excess glitter. To create my paper flowers, I used Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive. When creating your own handmade flowers, you need to use a glue that dries extremely fast, otherwise it becomes too tedious waiting for the flowers to dry. That's where the Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive comes in handy - and not only does it dry quickly, it also dries clear - an added bonus. And to add the sparkle to my flowers, I held them with a pair of tweezers, gave them a very quick squirt with the Helmar V2 Vellum Adhesive, and then sprinkled fine glitter all over. Once dry, I simply tapped the excess glitter off, and adhered the flower to my page with the Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.

Gift Giving With Best Creations and Helmar

A happy day to you all! Carole here for our third day with Best Creations week. Best Creations has some super adorable paper lines out! My favorite part about their papers is the glitter and shimmer. That little extra sparkle is so much fun to play with, but then again I'm a girl that is easily distracted by bright shiny objects! I thought that their Robot paper would make for some fun gift wrapping for the upcoming Father's Day. I wouldn't call it masculine, but I like to think there is a little boy in all our men who still love robots and rocket ships!

 

Using Best Creations Robot papers, Helmar Zap Dots and 450 Quick Dry, I whipped up this fun gift set trio. For the gift bag, I simply took a plain dollar store gift bag and added a strip of patterned paper and they layered it with a cut out journaling block and a fussy cut rocket, both of which I adhered with Zap Dots.

The card measures 5.5" x 5.5", with the inner block of blue at 5" x 5". I did some fussy cutting here to trim out the gears that I then turned into something like award ribbons. The center of the gears are custom epoxy shapes using the same Robot paper and an Epiphany Crafts Studio Tool. For the card I again used Helmar's 450 Quick Dry and a large Zap Dot on the center ribbon.

 

Lastly I used my Cricut and the Tags, Bags, & Boxes cartridge to cut out this cute little popcorn bag that I glued together with Helmar 450 Quick Dry. There's nothing worse in crafting than to have to sit there for ten minutes holding your project together while it dries. With the 450 Quick Dry, I only have to hold the folds of my bag together for less than a minute and then I can move on. To decorate the bag, again I did more fussy cutting and used a popsicle stick to make a decorative pick. I used mini Helmar Zap Dots for the heart (which I doubled up on as you can see below) and gear, as well as the planet and rocket.

These are the little touches I love to do to make gift giving special! It could be the simplest gift in the world, but by adding a little creativity, love, and some fabulous glues, you can give something ordinary and make it extraordinary! Happy Father's Day to all your Dad's out there!

RAISE THE ROOF FOR BEST CREATIONS!!! (woot woot)

 

Wut up Helmar blog followers!?! I've got some cute stuff to share with you today.  For this layout, I used BALLET PRINCESS by Best Creations.  That stuff is super cute and girly.  I know that initially you might think to use it with a wee little girl, but I found it perfect for my oldest.

 

 

Now for this layout, the Best Creations ROBOT COLLECTION seemed to be perfect to use on a layout featuring my son.  But no!  I got all sorts of crazy goin' on and used it here.  I also thought it would be fun to use the collection on a layout of me showing off my sweet dance moves (like the robot)!

But WAIT!!!!!!!  There's MORE!!!  I also used ZAP DOTS to make stuff pop.

Best Creations Splash

Hi everyone, Best Creations has some darling papers in their range.I used Splash for an adult card with few little twists using Helmar Gemstone Glue to keep the little stones clear and Crackle Glaze for texture on this one.

   

The paper has a glitz accent around the waves that inspired me to want to do more adding a little of the gemstone glue and dusting with perfect pearls and sparkles.  
   

While waiting for that to set I crafted a starfish from a manila file folder.
 

Starfish have a lumpy bumpy texture and a good excuse to use up odd bits of pearls and crystals. If the pearls have lost their sticky backing a quick dab of Helmar's Gemstone Glue will set them in place.

  

Use a paint brush to dribble Crackle Medium between and around the pearls and crystals and you’ll be surprised at the fun results of pretty rustic looking star fish.

I [heart] Helmar Scrap dots

OK so you probably won't believe it but I would go through on average a tube of Helmar Scrap Dots every few weeks!  It is not because it is a product that doesn't last... but rather because I use it so darn much.  I just absolutely love it and the dimension I can achieve with it.  I think I especially love it because of it's ability to be there but not seen - even on small alphas or fine embellishments, such as the stars on this layout.  

For this Layout I have teamed up my Helmar Acid Free and Helmar Scrap Dots with some BoBunny papers. 

I have used my acid free to adhere the majority of the paper and chipboard embellishments.  To create more dimension to the layout I used my Helmar Scrap Dots.  I just love that I can layer up the Helmar Scrap Dots to achieve whatever height I want.  It was also fantastic to adhere the fine star shapes while still adding a little height to them.  My favourite technique with the Helmar Scrap Dots is to layer it up reasonably high to give the element on the page, a look of ‘floating’ on the paper without the product standing out from underneath (always hard to photograph though). 

 Here is a more detailed shot showing some of the dimension that was achieved using the Helmar Scrap Dots.

I will have another post later this week as part of the Best Creations partnership celebrations showing some more use of the Helmar Scrap Dots on my layouts.  

Some ask me how I get all these layouts into my albums (as I VERY rarely have a flat layout).  I purchase pockets specifically for dimensional layouts and I also enjoy displaying them in open front frames (they are a little like shadow boxes) and just change them regularly.  It is true that I don't fit as many layouts in an album, but that is my style of scrapping.  If you are more of a 'flat' scrapper you can simply replace the Helmar Scrap Dots with Helmar 450 Quick Dry or Helmar Acid Free, with the only thickness being the paper on paper.

Helmar; a must for corrugated cardboard. Best Creations & Helmar; let's talk gift wrap!

Happy Tuesday!! Welcome to day 2 of our Helmar/Best Creation Swap week. Make sure you check back each day on both blogs to be inspired with design and technique ideas!

I'm all about being practical, so I'm excited to share my first project with you today. GIFTWRAP!! It is 100% practical and I've challenged myself to use more of my paper stash in this way. I used the Best Creation ROBOT line of papers.

For the above gift wrap project I used Helmar Permanent Adhesive Runner to adhere the 'wrapping paper' to my gift. I used Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive to adhere my layered circles on top of the gift. Then lastly, I used Helmar 3D Double Sided Adhesives on back of the robot on my gift tag.

 
For my second project, I created a layout using the Ballet Princess line by Best Creation. I often use corrugated cardboard pieces on my layouts/projects, and I have found that Helmar 450 Quick Dry is the absolute best glue to use to stick anything and everything on the cardboard.

A few steps I took to create my layout ... I adhered 450 Quick Dry to the back of my chipboard letters. I always add 450 to the backs of my chipboard letters even though most chipboard letters come with 'sticky' already on their backs. I've had too many times when I go back to look at my albums, only to find my chipboard letters have come loose or fallen off, so {again with the practical thing} I always, always use 450 on the letters to solve that issue.

 
 
I used Helmar 3D Double Sided Adhesives on the back of my letter stickers and journaling strips. I can't create without these little 3D guys ... I love the dimension they add to my pages/projects.

 

 
 
 
 
Last, but not least, I get my corrugated cardboard from shipping boxes ... so it is free ... what can be better than that?

Helmar, Best Creation Inc and Punky Sprouts...oh my!!!

Now that is a mouthfull!!!  I had the priviledge to work with Best Creation papers, an awesome Punky Sprouts album and my favorite Helmar Adhesives!!!!   I decided to use an mini album by  Punky Sprouts called Steampunk'd, such a great combination of cardboard, acrylic, canvas and chipboard!  I teamed it up with the Best Creation Robot line of papers, stickers and chipboard diecuts:

 I used a slew of Helmar Adhesives for this book, with so many different mediums you have to have a great selection and Helmar sure does!!!  When I adhered the paper to the chipboard or cardboard I used Helmar Acid Free glue, perfect for this type of application because it does not wrinkle or warp the papers or the cardboard or chipboard.  The Robins Nest Dew Drops were adhered with Helmar Gemstone Glue.  The alpha title is self adhesive but I have found that with time they fall off so I add a dab of Helmar 450 Quick Dry to each letter and they stay where I put them....forever!!!  I added a small charm from Epiphany Crafts to the first page with the small round bubblecap...such a great touch!!

 

I love the Best Creation Glitter Cardstock for mats!

 The Helmar Gemstone glue worked great for the acrylic page! Along with a Helmar ZapDot to raise up the star!

 Whenever I am adding the Glitter Cardstock I use the Helmar 450 Quick Dry and find that it works best!

 I love the Best Creation Basic Glitter Dot paper for backgrounds!

 

Working with the canvas page was so fun!!!  I used some Heidi Swapp stars as masks and sprayed some Maya Mist on....love how it came out!!  I also sewed a border and made some custom buttons with my Epiphany Crafts Button studio (the hearts) and sewed them on too!!!

  More Helmar ZapDots and some Best Creation Glitter Cardstock and Basic Glitter Dot papers were perfect for my little book!!

 

And there you have it....a great collaboration between some of my favorite companies!!!
