Helmar Ustream Flip Album DONE!

Two weeks ago LIVE on Helmar's Ustream Channel there I was LIVE on with no plan and a lot of glue! I was nervous but enough we were gluing and all was good.  We started a project with a child's board book and it when something like this.......

It was a lot of fun and I appreciate all the creative input and you all "sticking" with me (don't you love the glue puns? 

I completed that album today and love it!  I did record a video of the whole process and am brushing up on my video editting skills so hope to do something with that but was so excited I just had to share the completed album.

Wedding season is upon us and with that goes all the DIY wedding goodies. From favors and invitations to decorations and dress. There are many brides to be that love creating things for their special day. And what better way to create "lasting" memories, than to use Helmar Adhesives!!! Hi everyone, Erika Taylor here with you and today I've got a few projects for you that are simple and easy but will make a "wow" statement for sure.

First off an altered wedding album. Created with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and a combination of Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive and Helmar LIquid Scrap Dots. I first painted the entire album (originally cream) with some wonderful spring colors of Glimmer mist. I used a small tipped paint brush for the pinkdiamond shapes. Once the album was completely dry, I sealed it with a very light coat of Helmar Acrylic Sealer.

Now onto a few embellishments. The prima flowers and branches were the perfect pairing for the colors and they got a little Spa treatment of Liquid Scrap Dots to keep in place. Just like a brides extra hold hairspray, this stuff will keep things right where they need to be. Let's take a peek...

Now the second piece is a whimsical sign to point guests in the right direction.

 

Speaking of directions, here they are for you to create a sign like this.

1)      Sand wooden panel with fine grit sand paper. Paint entire surface with Black Gesso. Once Dry apply 2 coats of Oil Slick Glimmer Glaze.

2)      Using large heart Glimmer Screen from Timeless Romance and spray over with Teal High Heel Chalkboard Glimmer Mist. While front side of mask is still wet, flip over and press down onto wood base for reverse mask image.

3)      Spray Wooden surface with Polka Dot Pink, Firefly and Teal High Heel Chalkboard Glimmer Mist in uneven spray pattern. Let completely dry.

4)      Once dry, apply Tide Pool Glimmer Glam to center of wood panel. Tilt panel back and forth to create streams and pools of Glimmer Glam. Let dry. Apply one coat of Tide Pool Glimmer Glam to entire surface using brayer for even distribution.

5)      Paint on sentiment using acrylic paint. Add swirls and dots to wood panel.

6)      Adhere twigs to wooden panel using Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.

7)      Paint flowers with Teal High Heel, Firefly, and Pink Polka Dot Chalkboard Glimmer Mist. Adhere to wood panel using Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.

8)      Finish off sign with by adhering black ribbon using Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.

Helmar Adhesive Ambassador Laura Achilles is Back!

Dimension.  It’s subtle, but adds a whole load of pop to your paper projects.  Do you like variety and depth in your dimension?  Helmar Zap Dots and Liquid Scrap Dots can give you that variety of dimension that you love! 

 

Like in this layout!  I used both!  I used the Small White Circle zap dots to adhere the butterfly punches and the Small White Squares to adhere the stamped clouds.  See…subtle!  But lets say you need even more dimension because, you know, you need to make sure an accent really pops off the page or is near by an already bulky embellishment.  Liquid Scrap Dots can give you the ability to create great dimension so your accents don’t look smooshed.  I can smoosh all my socks into my drawer but I don’t like to smoosh my accents on my page which is why I love Liquid Scrap Dots so much.

 

 
Oh and you know that heavy flower accent?  Want to make sure it stays put?  Use 450 Quick Dry and that baby won’t go anywhere!  I promise!

Get your Glue On in June!! - June Helmar Challenge

The Design Team and myself had a pow-wow in the Glue Lab and have been strumming up some fun stuff!  A few months back in the Helmar Question of the Day on our Facebook Wall we asked if you Fans are interested in challenges and the resounding response was YES!  That got me thinking that I love challenges too and I want to participate so into the Glue Lab we went and the Designers and I are ready to get started in June!

Partly Cloudy with a chance of inspiration

Welcome to the last day of the Helmar and Lawn Fawn Week! So sad to see it end. I hope you all have enjoyed it as much as I have. There has been such inspiring journey with all the wonderful projects that have been shared.

I want to show you my last Lawn Fawn project for the week. It is a simple card to let someone know I am there for them.

The front reads “We will weather the storm together” and the inside reads “keep the sun in your heart”

The sun on the inside and the silver clouds on the front of the card were embossed.

The umbrellas were done a couple of ways. The larger one was stamped on another piece of patterned paper and then fancy cut out. The open part of the umbrella was then sprayed with Helmar’s V2 and sprinkled with clear glitter. Once that was dry the back of the umbrella was sprayed with Helmar’s V2 and placed on the card. Once that was dry the second umbrella was stamped right on the card and both were outlined with puff paint. The grey paper strip was tacked into place using Helmar's Quickfix Adhesive Runner.

I just love this set! Thanks again Lawn Fawn for creating such wonderful stamps!

Altered Books

Hi everyone  !  Altered Books are my favourites and excited to share this one with you.

Creatively recycling all kinds of bits and pieces into a one of a kind treasure is good fun only when you have a variety of adhesives to make it happen.

  
 

This altered book used lots of Helmar adhesives including Scrap Dots to build height, Adhesive Runners, Quick Dry and for finishing some Texture Effects and Crackle Medium.

 
Vellum adhesive is good for fiddly delicates like these dried flowers and fussy cuts, simply spray and place, how cool is that.

"YAY!" for the Lawn Fawn/Helmar Blog Swap!

Hey everyone!  When I saw that Lawn Fawn was a preferred partner with Helmar, I knew that something super fun was in the works!   I have a few friends on the Lawn Fawn DT and the girls there could not be nicer.   Not to mention that as clear stamps go, Lawn Fawn is TOP NOTCH in quality and you get a fantastic imprint/image every time!

I got two fun sets from Lawn Fawn, Critters in the Burbs and Judy's Blooms.   When I saw the sentiment, "YAY!" in one of the sets, I immediately thought "end of school year....YAY!"  So, I'm giving this card to my daughter as she just completed 5th grade and her and I are about to embark on her "5th grade graduation" trip to Washington DC this Sunday.  We are VERY excited, although Im a little nervous to be chaperoning a bunch of 11 year olds, LOL!!!!

I began by assembling my card and then stamping the flowers where I wanted to position them on my card.  I LOVE this big, amazing flower in the set so I wanted to paper piece it using multiple layers and Helmar Zap Dots.

Once my layers were cut and ready to go, I assembled them and adhered them to my card with the Zap Dots.

Last but not least, I used some Robin's Nest dewdrops (another preferred partner with Helmar, as a matter of fact!) and Helmar Gemstone Glue to adhere them.  

I LOVE this glue- it dries SUPER fast and also dries CLEAR. Once my ribbon and button were tied, I stamped the "yay!" sentiment and we are good to go!

Sketchy fun with Helmar & Lawn Fawn!

Welcome Helmar & Lawn Fawn fans!

If you've seen my video opening my DT package, you saw how excited I was to be able to work with Lawn Fawnstamps! I've been admiring them from afar for quite some time and really looked forward to getting inky with them. :D This week the Helmar and Lawn Fawn DT have been having fun using each other's products. I am really blown away by the creativity of both teams!

 

For my card today, I am using two Lawn Fawn sets: Fanciful Frames and Critters in the 'Burbs. Before I show you my project I'm going to gush a little about how much I love the quality of Lawn Fawn stamps- they are photopolymer clear stamps and I'll be honest about my apprehension because I haven't had the best of luck with clear stamps in the past...especially with certain ink pads. I was pleasantly surprised when the very first stamped image out of the package was perfectly crisp and clear! LOVE that! I'd have to say 95% of the ink stays on the paper when stamped which attributes to that plus the stamp looks nearly clean when you pull it off! I stamped all images with Memento Tuxedo Black.

 

I am following a sketch soon to be released as our FIRST Helmar challenge coming soon right here on the blog! We are so excited and as soon as I saw it *you will LOVE it* I just had to make a card using it with these adorable stamps. I really love how it turned out. I started by stamping the swirly flower down the center of my card. Then, I stamped the frame twice - once on pattern paper and once on white card stock - then I stamped my doggie and kittie inside the frame & colored with copics. I cut out just the inside of the frame and paper pieced it directly on the pattern paper frame using Helmar Craft Glue. I am loving using my craft glue for adhering paper to paper. I also used my grey copics directly on the pattern paper to add some depth to the frame.

 
Tiffany from the Lawn Fawn DTposted a pic with labels pointing to where she used her Helmar product on her card - we LOVED that idea and I am totally stealing it for my card today and future posts! I love pointing out where Helmar is used. :D You can see that I used Liquid Scrap Dots to my butterflies so they look like they are about to fly right off the page - the great thing is they will remain that way!! I also used some clear Zap dots for my birds because they are tiny and I didn't want it to show. And for a tiny bit of dimension I used the clear circle Zap Dots on the frame.

Helmar and Lawn Fawn Stamps...the Perfect Pair!

Hi! Carrie here! I'm so excited to be sharing my first official project as a new Helmar design team member. I had an absolute blast using 2 of the Lawn Fawn stamps sets. I combined both sets of stamps into my layout.

I'm going to jump right in and share some detailed pics of my layout and all the goodies that went into making it. First, here are the stamp sets I had the pleasure of playing with this week.

 
I stamped several heart stamps, 2 phrase stamps, and 2 different flower stamps onto a scrap piece of Lily Bee pattern paper, then cut them out individually. I then distressed the edges of each cut out stamped image.

 
I used the following assortment of Helmar Adhesives for my layout. Quick Fix Permanent Adhesive Runner, 1/4" White 3D Double Sided ZapDots, 1/2" Clear 3D Zapdots, and my all time favorite, 450 Quick Dry.

 
My finished layout. All patterned papers are from Lily Bee. Lace pattern paper is Basic Grey.

 
Here are a couple closeup shots showing how I used my Helmar Adhesives. I used my 450 Quick Dry behind the larger areas of the lace pattern paper, and my Quick Fix Permanent Runner for my base papers and photo. This closeup shows how I layered my stamped flower images using the 1/2" Clear Zapdots on the bottom flower, and the 1/4" White Zapdots on the top 2 flower images.

 
And this closeup shows how I used my 1/4" white Zapdots to pop up the heart stamps and phrases.
