I love frames. I love framed art. And I absolutely love my Helmar 450 Quick Dry. I've said it before, so I probably sound like a broken record, but I use the 450 Quick Dry on everything I create. Layouts, cards, altered projects ... everything!
I'm excited to show you this fun project I created with pattern papers, wooden clothespins, a 4x6 frame, a little ribbon, and my trusty 450 Quick Dry!
First, I took the glass out of the frame, and left the cardboard backing in the frame. Then I took regular sized wooden clothespins {i bought a big pack of them at the Dollar Store} and covered them with pattern papers. My tip for covering the clothespins with the paper is to trace the side of the pin you want to cover onto the paper, then cut, adhere, distress the edges with sand paper, then ink. Can you guess what I used to adhere the paper to the pins? 450 Quick Dry of course!
I'll insert here that before discovering 450 Quick Dry, I didn't particularly enjoy doing altered projects because the glue I was using didn't hold well, and more than once I would walk by a completed project that was displayed in my home only to see the paper was peeling away from the project. UG! That has never once happened with my trusty 450. It holds like no other glue I've ever used. LOVE it!!! {okay, broken record again}
After adhering the pattern paper to the pins, the rest is quick and simple. I smothered the top 1/2 of the cardboard piece inside the frame with, you guessed it, 450 Quick Dry!! Then I pressed the top row of clothespins onto the glue smothered cardboard piece, alternating the direction of each clothespin as I adhered. {bottom of pin, top of pin, bottom of pin, top of pin, etc.} Before repeating the same step for the bottom 1/2 of the frame, I held down the glued pins with my palm for 3-4 minutes, making sure they were dry enough to continue.
After all the clothespins were glued down, I kept the frame laying down on a firm surface until all pins were completely dried and solid in the frame. After everything was dry, I topped off my project with a little bit of ribbon on random pins.
This is a fun project to just have displayed "as is" in your home, or you can use it to clip notes or photos onto. I love practical projects! Thanks for taking a look, and I hope you give this a try; I had a blast making it! YAY for 450 Quick Dry!! Have I mentioned that I love this stuff?
