A Chest Full Of Helmar...

Today, I would like to share an off-the-page project I created for my youngest daughter. In the process of creating, I used a huge variety of Helmar products. I went to town and pulled out the big guns for this one!!! After all, it has to survive anything my daughter can dish out (and she's not known for being gentle, lol!)

 

I used the Helmar Crackle Medium (step 1 and step 2) to create a lovely aged look to this mini treasure chest. I simply coated the chest with Step 1, allowed it to dry for the required time, and followed with a coat of Step 2. Allow it to dry, and you are done! It creates such a beautiful finish and texture, in two very easy steps - but be warned - it is addictive!!!. Doesn't this chest look like it belong's on a pirate's boat?

 
I used the Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive to adhere the flowers and butterflies on top of the chest. Let's just say that butterfly is NOT going to be flying away anytime soon. (-: 

 
I decided to give the brads on the clasp at the front (and hinges at the back - not shown) an added blast of staying power, by adding the Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive to the brads before securing them to the chipboard. 

 
On the inside of the chest, I used a mixture of the Helmar Permanent Adhesive Runner and the Helmar Acid Free glue to adhere the papers. On the chest lid top, I needed  the extra drying time that the Acid Free glue allows, just in case I had to move the paper. On the inside bottom of the chest, I simply used the Permanent Adhesive Runner on the papers, aligned the papers along the inside edge, and pressed down to secure. 

 
Now, I have to admit I made a HUGE glue and adhesive mess on my desk during this process. It kind of freaked me out because I don't do off-the-page creations often, and wasn't expecting such a messy outcome. But the Helmar Acid Free Remove Cleaner came to my rescue (thank-goodness!!!). A quick blast, a little wipe, and the mess was gone (pity it doesn't work on cleaning up the messes that my daughter's make...sigh).

Enjoying the Last Few Days of Summer!

I LOVE COLOR! I especially love color on paper and how much fun is it to take some beautiful paper and play with it. While the days are still warm I gathered some summer colored paper, some art supplies and of course a little bit of Helmar Glue and I headed out to the patio to have a little fun creating fun things.

With my Birdie Frame I used some wonderful Tim Holtz Distress Inks, a little bit of Tattered Angels on the frame. Helmars Premium Craft Glue was used to glue the bird on and then a spritz of Tattered Angels Caribbean Blue completed the look.

This layout was fun to create using ZAPDOTS because they helped to create a 3-D effect with the flowers.

I also made some quick cute cards to include with some carrot muffins that I  baked. I cut a circle out of the paper that I was using to use as the centre of the flower for the card. I found that Helmars Gemstone Glue was AWESOME to glue the clear acrylic cover onto the paper and then glue it to the flower and attach the whole flower to the card. Quick and strong! AWESOME!!! {Oh, the carrot muffins were good too!}

helmar: my basics.

 
I honestly do not know how I ever got along in the scrapbooking word before I met up with HELMAR PRODUCTS.  My all time favorite HELMAR product is the PERMANENT ADHESIVE RUNNER:

 
It keeps all those little strips of paper I cut in that layout (above) in tact and in place!  LOVE that stuff.

My other HELMAR basic is the GLUE.  My favorties are the 450 QUICK DRY and the ACID FREE GLUE:

 

I especially like to use the glue to adhere my chipboard letters:

 
I LOVE the fact that NONE of my chipboard letters have fallen off since I began using Helmar.  I hate to find letters sitting at the bottom of a page protectors.  HELMAR liquid glue is my solution.

Helmar and Walnut Hollow

Greetings Helmar fans...I'm back to post another project created with Helmar Adhesives. I wanted to utilize this gorgeous card box from Walnut Hollow. I first misted it with Aquamarine and Dark Denim Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels. I also misted my Pink Paislee Mistable paper and tag with Blackberry Cordial, Calypso & Fairway from Tattered Angels. Fast and quick and once dry I was ready to embellish using my favorite 450 Quick Dry and Liquid Scrap Dots. I adhered the paper and tag using my brayer to smooth out any bumps and lumps...pleasantly surprised when I realized that they were few and far between. Digging into my Prima supply I found an assortment of Prima Flowers perfect to go with the colors I chose for my paper...some small...some large but I knew that I didn't have to worry about attaching these flowers to my card box. Once completed a crystal knob was attached for the top handle to help finish off this project. I love how pretty it turned out and also the fact that I never have to worry if my embellishments will stick. Having Helmar Adhesives takes the worry of everything falling off a distant memory. Here's the finished project...let me know what you think.

I also want to share a home repair job utilizing 450 Quick Dry Adhesive. I'm very fortunate to have a younger sister who is an antique dealer. Several years ago I found a set of vintage ruby glass drape holders and they worked perfectly in my home. One day as I was straigthening the drapes one of them broke in half. For the last year it has been sitting on the window sill just waiting for me to fix it. Really I've been ignoring the job but the lightbulb went on...if 450 Quick Dry works so good on my projects why not try to repair with it. So I did and quess what it did the job. This adhesive will probably not only sit in my Big Daddy Glue Caddy but also in my tool box!

The design team has been having great fun this month with our guest posts and creative new projects.  Susan got me thinking about how we can use our adhesives in other ways than might be listed on the packaging, like making your own sun catchers or vinyl overlays.

Helmar’s Gemstone glue is prefect for this project as it truly dries clear allowing all the glitters to shine. Using a base of wax paper, simply place a cookie cutter on a flat surface, drizzle enough glue to create a thin layer and sprinkle away.

Perfect Pearls, Twinkling H2Os, micro beads, crystal fibres work equally well as glitter and gives different depths of colour.  You could do this with Quick Dry but you would have to be really prepared and act quick because the glue dries really fast! 

Just leave the glue to set and peel off. They are really pretty catching the light strung near a window or use them as a colorful overlay on a page or card.

"You and Me Baby, We're stuck like glue..."

 

Hey, everyone!

I'm SO excited about my DT post on the Helmar Blog today!  I have been wanting the "Glue Daddy Caddy" for a while now and when my box came from Tracy the other day I was ecstatic! Tracy's dad (aka "Glue Dad") makes these amazing holders for all my Helmar goodies and I couldn't WAIT to decorate :)   Here's what it looks like when you order it:

I have to say that I'll always be the "pink girl" but I am REEEALLY loving the color yellow lately.  It's just so happy and cheery and I find myself reaching for it a lot.   So, I painted my Glue Daddy Caddy and waited for it to dry...

Next step was the Helmar Crackle Medium.  OMG, I LOVE this stuff.  Don't let the fact that it's a 2 step process fool you- it's actually UBER easy!  The hardest part is waiting for step 2 to dry and see your results..but even that only took about 30-45 minutes!  Check out this closeup of the crackle:

(TIP: to make your crackle stand out more, use distress ink of some sort and rub all over surface to 'fill in' the cracks, then wipe off excess ink!  Easy peasy and FUN!)

Next up was to 'seal the deal' with Helmar Acrylic Sealer- GOOD stuff.  Makes it so shiny and smooth!

After I crackled, I took one of my favorite stamps from Ippity (Unity),"Music of my Heart" (LOVE this set)  and I stamped it in Black StazOn all over the top and front of my Glue caddy.

I then wrote on the back of it in a Black Sharpie- one of my favorite quotes!   The flowers are dark grey Webster's Pages "bloomers" and I really love how they 'pop' on the yellow and black!  I had to girl it up a little, ya know?  :)

What do you guys think?  You will definitely have to check out the Glue Daddy Caddy- I love my 'Deluxe" version that has 2 side pockets- perfect for all my zap dots, liquid scrap dots, all of it!  Here's a view of the side pocket:

Helmar Glues and their uses........all in one page.

Hi there Helmar People.

I have a page and some info to share today.....so I am just going to jump straight on in.

Lots of Lovely glues used for this one.

Helmar specialises in glues for different purposes.  I frequently use Helmar 450 Quickdry which is my my go-to quick-grab glue......but dont think thats all there is.....or that its perfect for each task......(even though its perfect for a good many!!!!)

This page uses LOTS of chipboard, which is not a product for a humble glue stick.......its sturdy and needs a glue which will hold well and will not crack off when your page is bent.  Helmar 450 will do the job with this, but so will Helmar Supertac,  or  Helmar Professional Acid free glue bookbinding) will   (both white glues)

The  chipboard lettering here from Imaginarium Designs is gorgeous but ever so fine.  My usual Helmar 450 will not come out fine enough for this task without getting glue off the edges.  But......my Helmar supertac is a thinner consistency without having stringy residue and can cover the back neatly and without leaking over the edges if you hold the nozzle (not fully open) and directly on the chipboard so you are 'wiping' the glue on with the nozzle instead of pouring it on.

Same goes for the fine chpboard frame you can see below (another Imaginarium Piece)

Fabric like this lace trim relies on the 'no seepage, very little warping' qualities the Helmar 450 has, so that glue is my go-to for this task!!!!

Last but not least I love the ease of using the Helmar Adhesive Runner for the speed and reliability of a fast easy to use adhesive for paper and light cardstock and my Helmar Zapdots to add some dimension here and there.

SO all that said......  Some excellent glues to play with!!!!!

Very Quiet on the Blogging Front !!!

Yes.. I know.. I have been a very BAD blogger this month...

Aside from the fact that I have a busy family life juggling 4 kids, Scouts, Volleyball, Calisthenics competitions, Speech therapists, and Eye specialist with normal day to day life...

I have had just few scrap booking commitments over the last two months.

Bookmarks made easy with Helmar!

Happy Monday, Helmar Fans!

I love to read which is probably why I love creating these bookmarks for other avid readers! I have recently started selling them on etsy and they are my #1 seller so I'm starting to make more of them. I thought I would share how easy they come together especially when attaching my image over a bulky ribbon.

 
Yep, there you have it! Helmar Liquid Scrap Dotsis KEY! There is no way my image is going to lay flat on that wrinkled ribbon and I love to fussy cut my images out so I just add a few dabs of Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots to the back of the image and adhere to the bookmark!

 
I wanted to give you a side shot of how the Liquid Scrap Dots look prior to drying - pretty neat huh!

 
and here is a side view after it has dried over night. The most important thing you want to remember when using Liquid Scrap Dots is you don't want to press down hard, just lightly placeuntil it makes contact with your paper, surface, etc. If you squish it down (which I've done) you'll be like, huh, where is the dimension? LOL ;) It generally sets in about 10-15 mins but after overnight it won't be going anywhere.

 
And here is the front of my bookmark. I just love these and this image was too cute! I just had to add Reading Rocks cuz she looks like she's telling you that very thing!! haha

I also took a couple pictures of the bookmark in use so you can see how fab it looks in a book!

The V in V2 stands for versatile

Today I am going to share with you a quick little layout I created of my little boy and his love for hanging in the garden with dad and picking strawberries.  

You can easily see how this one has come together using some punchinella to create the whitehoneycomb look randomly across the layout.  But what I really want to share with you is just howversatile Helmar's V2 adhesive is.  The layout is created using only paper (by Echo Park) and chipboard pieces (by Scrapware).  You can easily choose your favourite Helmar adhesive to stick all the paper down, from the Helmar Professional Acid free, to Helmar Premium craft glue, tape runner or the trusted 450 Quick Dry. There was really only one adhesive for the fine chipboard alphas though, and that was the Helmar V2 adhesive.  While it was predominately created for vellum, don't be afraid to experimentwith it's use. It is great for chipboard pieces as it provides a great all over cover and won't bleed out from underneath. The raised chipboard pieces (the frog, clouds and 'little' word) were all adhered withHelmar liquid Scrap dots to give them a little extra height.  

I hope you take the opportunity to explore with your different Helmar adhesives finding more 'bestuses'.
