Hi Helmar fans!!! Tracy has me all stirred up about this heart canvas that she and several of the Helmar DT girls have done so I thought I would give it a go!! First let me say I live in the country and did not have the supplies, so I made do with what I had. My canvas is a 8 X 8.
I started by adding my color {acrylic} to my canvas. I used a sea sponge because thats what I had.
I made a roof out of some canvas pieces I had on hand, then covered them in old dictionary paper and put a wash of brown paint on and set it aside to dry. When it was dry I crackled the roof with Helmar's Crackle medium step 1. About 10 minutes and step 2 was ready to be brushed on. Then I set it aside and let the magic begin. I then drew my heart on my canvas with a graphite pencil {because that is what I had:):)} and painted the inside with gesso. I then painted the inside with red acrylic paint and then I crackled the heart. I got so into this project I have no more step by step photos. So here is my finished canvas~
My saying is "Home is where the heart is" ~ so true for me!!! I added some trim, some Prima goodies and a vintage key. I used the V2 Vellum Adhesive to put the dictionary paper on the roof of the canvas pieces and the Craft Glue to glue down the embellishments.
I didn't have the Indian Ink so I used a fine tip Sharpie and then went over the lettering, with a small paint brush, to make it darker. Thanks for stopping by today. For more examples of the canvas just scroll the blog, several have been posted by the Helmar DT and Tracy herself!!! It was so fun, I want to do another one but I will wait and get the Indian Ink!!! See ya soon~by: C. Mercer
