Baby Brag Books, FabScraps Style

Hello Helmar Fans!

Today I am want to share a sweet little gift idea with you. It's brought to you by our friends over at FabScraps. These adorable little cut out kits are perfect for cards, layouts or these mini brag books. Not to mention that all their lines they carry partner with that vintage look that Helmar's Crackle brings to the table.

These are adorable mini Brag Books.

Supplies:

1 - Helmar Crackle Steps 1 and 2

1 - Jar of Helmar Acrylic Sealer

1 - Sheet of FabScraps Die Cuts

1 - Mini Book from Creative Memories

1 - Paint brush

1 - Acrylic paint color of your choice

1 - Adirondack ink

Step 1: Paint Mini Book with acrylic paint color of your choice, let dry.

Step 2: Crackle it with Helmar Step 1 and Step 2, fallow drying directions on jars.

Step 3: Using a cotton swab/pad spread Adirondack ink all over the crackled area and quickly wipe off. This darkens all the cracks.

Step 4: Using Helmar's Craft Glue adhere the distressed die cut to the front of the book.

Step 5: Add letters/title

Step 6: Seal off all edges and surface areas with Helmar Acrylic Sealer. Let dry and apply another coat over all edges of letters and the FabScraps Die Cuts. This will help it from ever pealing or getting snagged on anything.

Step 7: Add ribbon and other FabScraps Die Cuts to embellish. I sealed these FabScraps Die Cuts with more Helmar Acrylic Sealer.

I just think this is such a sweet little gift to give to someone with a new baby. Hope you have enjoyed this week of FabScraps... there is still more to come. Check in every day!

FabScraps are FAB!

 

It's beginning to feel like the holidays will be here sooner than later...am I ready? NO!...but I will be with a little help from my HELMAR. Martha Richardson here...this week our Design Team is sharing projects that combine fabulous products and embellishments from FabScraps {if you haven't checked this company out you must to see all the products} and HELMAR adhesives. I created a LO because I thought it showcased the FabScraps products I received. I prefer a simple style with a few great embellishments, for this project it was a fantastic bare chipboard frame and metal embellishments. You can see below the progression of the FabSrap pieces from plain to glimmery, from single to layered...of course this couldn't have been accomplished without my trusty Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots, Premium Craft Glue and Gemstone Glue. Leftover Prima felt pieces became the anchor for the FabScraps filigree, lock and key pieces...they won't be going anywhere soon! The FabScraps chipboard frame was first misted with Tattered Angels Mallard Glimmer Mist and then again to kick it up a notch with Ocean Spray Glimmer Glam.

Here is the finished Lo and you will see how the fabulous FabScraps pieces have helped to complete the piece. If you look closely you will see the frame appears to float over the paper, the Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots has actually lifted the frame by 1/8". Once dried it is not going to collapse on the project...that is the amazing part of the Liquid Scrap Dots! Using papers from 7 Dots Studio and Basic Grey collections they have been misted, inked, stenciled, splattered, stapled, distressed and torn and then adhered together using the Quick-Fix Adhesive Runner. Remaining Prima felt pieces are tucked into corners and another FabScraps metal embellishment with a Sparkler from Webster's Pages was attached with Premium Craft Glue and Gemstone Glue.

Because I didn't want to add journaling to the LO itself I created a simple hidden pocket on the back, applied with the Quick-Fix Adhesive Runner to secure my journaling spot.

 

I hope that I've inspired you to try products from FabScraps and Helmar Adhesives. I couldn't create with out my Helmar Adhesives!

Fun with FabScraps and Helmar: New Baby Ornament

Hello!  Today I have a fun little ornament idea using FabScraps Baby Romper Chipboard, a fun FabScraps charm and Helmar Acid Free Glue:

I used the chipboard to create the ornament, covering both sides with Helmar Acid Free Glue and then adding some patterned paper over the glue.  After the glue was dry, I cut the shape out using sharp scissors and then used a sanding block to sand the edges.  I punched the top of the ornament and threaded some ribbon through and the fun FabScraps bow charm.  A quick sticker and some pearls finish off the ornament.

You can personalize this project by adding the year and name instead of the sentiment.  This is a super easy gift idea!!!

The "Keys" to calming the 'chaos'... with FABscraps!

Hey, HELMAR peeps!  Jess here tonight and I'm SO EXCITED!

Ahhhh...it's the HOLIDAYS, yes?  I do it EVERY year.  Every year I say I'm not going to go all crazy and get all stressed and hmmm..somehow that chaos creeps up on me :)

This year we have a pretty solid game plan but you know...I never say never.  Actually, I don't mind chaos.  I pretty much live in it...4 kids, 3 dogs, several activities, lots of laughs, noise, comings and goings.  I do appreciate a good wave of "calm"..but not for long, LOL!  It's kind of foreign to me.

Anyway, one of the best ways to manage chaos and actually, embrace it even- is to NOT sweat the small stuff along w/ a few other things.  Here are my own personal keys to calming the chaos when needed:

1.) Take TIME to be you.

2.) A good cuppa never hurt anyone- love my coffee and hot, soothing tea!

3.) Think PINK.

4.)  Don't sweat the SMALL stuff (and you know what?  yeah, you do- a LOT of it is 'small stuff'"  ;)

 

SO here I am and you're going "why is she listing off these things?"  Well, I art journaled about it.  About Chaos and my method of managing it ;)  And funny - the page itself is chaotic.  So you might not be able to read it all, ha!   I SO SO enjoyed using these awesome chipboard Diecuts from FABSCRAPS in addition to the adorable "High Tea" diecuts.

I began by finding the word "Chaos" in the dictionary and painting everything but the word to add a nice dramatic theme.

I then took the awesome tag die cut from the "High Tea" collection (FabScraps) and used ACID FREE GLUE from HELMAR to stick it down and adhere the 2 pieces of chipboard after I stained them a bit w/ some paint/ink.

I LOVE the vintage charms that FABSCRAPS offers!  They are so pretty!  I was so excited that I had a key to use and that is how my theme was born!   I used Helmar 450 QUICK-DRY to glue that to the chair.

After that I distressed all of it a bit and wrote down my "keys" to calming that chaos ;)

Fab Scraps.. A Little Shabby Chic

Hello and Welcome , Angie Blom here showing you a little FabScraps and Helmar.. what a great combination of products.  I wanted to do something out of the ordinary for me.. and using some of Fabscraps products I ventured into the land of Shabby Chic.

 Using Helmar products.. 450 Quick Dry Adhesive, Craft Glue, Adhesive Runner.

FabScraps line Vintage Baby, Burlesque, High Tea,  metal embellishment and a die cut album.

above is the cover of my Album using the FabScraps Die cut album   , with one of their metal embellishments, lots of ribbon from may arts, prima flowers and some I made. Paper piecing some of the FabScraps papers to get the roses.  Adhering it all with the amazing 450 Quick Dry Adhesive!!

 I have to say... once in awhile I love to explore into the world of Shabby Chic, it is such a beautiful way to add so many different papers, embellishments and come out with some awesome pages, but it is alot of work.. and you do need the right adhesives to make sure everything sticks well on top of each other.. You will just love that these Helmar glues are amazing and fast working so you can work at a fast pace layering things in the matter of minutes, with out much time to wait for things to dry.. I so love that!!

I cut some of these papers from Fabscrap using my Cricut to get certian shapes for my layouts.. I love how even the cat from the Halloween line looks shabby chic because of these beautiful papers.

I just love the glitter flowers above and here is a little tutorial on how easy it is to make.

You will need some Helmar Craft Glue, some white glitter, and some rolled flowers.

add the glue to the top of your flower, as much or as little as you like.

dip it into the glitter, and lightly shake off.

this will add such a beautiful frosty glitter to your flowers, for any layout or card.

 you can make lots of them and just store them in a container for your next use.

A cute mini glue holder.

Hi there....

Great to see you here today!

I have a cute little project for you.  Here in Australia, we are unable to get hold of Tracy's Clever Glue boxes, so I decided to create a little version of a glue holder to sit on my table (which works for me because I dont have a great deal of room!)

I used some toilet rolls to create the holder parts.....Here's how I did it!

 

Cut out some Chipboard and trim down some toilet rolls..... to the dimensions above!

I glued the two chipboard piecec together, using the Helmar Acid Free Glue (great for bookbinding) Using Helmars Glue spreader.  I also applied it to the 6 x 6 inch paper chosen for the toilet rolls and continue on as follows.

Roll the paper around the toilet rolls and trim the ends down to the toilet roll edge so they can be folded in neatly

 

Once the toilet rolls are covered, apply a piece of patterned paper to the base as well and trim another piece of Paper to just slightly smaller than the chipboard piece to cover the reverse side (bottom) of the base, so the bottom is neatly finished off.....

Using HELMAR 450 QUICKDRY Glue run a bead of glue around the endge and attach it to the covered base.

Add some weight tot he top to secure the glued tiolet rolls to the base until the glue dries.

AND decorate as desired.  I used more Helmar 450 Quickdry Glue to adhere all the embellishments.

And its finished ready to hold my glues as I am using them, keeping the glue ready to go!!!

FabScraps Dangle

 

Welcome to FabScraps Week, where each day this week the Helmar Design Team feature FabScraps projects!

Today, I wanted to show you another wonderful gift idea. This dangle can be attached to any necklace you already own. This way you can wear it high or low with any outfit. This dangle looks even more "vintage" with a few pearls hanging from FabScrap charms.

 

It was made the same way the necklaces were that I shared with you on Saturday. I just cut chain to the size I wanted and added the embellishments with jump rings. I loved the vintage style charms from FabScraps.

How easy is that? Just attach a clasp at the end of the chain to hang it on anything. (You could also create a simple keyring this way too!) I also used the filigree in this kit to make it hang on the necklace.

Now, I wanted to show you how I created the string of pearls... (This is the fun part!)

Remember, I am not a bead-er and if you are, you have serious patience. ;) Plus, beads can get pricey if you are creating several gift items.

The supplies you need to create the string of pearls are as follows:

a non-stick craft sheet

Pearl Paint Pen in white

invisible thread (you can use clear beading string, but it will be stiffer and not dangle along with the charms)

Helmar's 450 Quick Dry

On you craft sheet, tape your invisible thread all the way across it. Do it multiple times. It takes a long time for this paint to dry so doing several strands would be wise. Use the paint pen to make your pearls along the thread. Let it dry at least six to eight hours.

After they are dry, flip them over and apply the paint again over top the flat area. Have fun creating large or small beads right next to each other.Let them dry another 4-6 hours. You can tell they are done by touching them slightly.

Take the string of pearls and tie them to the chain at different lengths. I used two strands, but three is fun too! Cut the strand to the length you like leaving a little thread at the end of the strand.

Then, to make sure each bead stays put, add a little dab of Helmar's Quick Dry glue to the end of the strand with a tooth pick.

Can you imagine FabScraps silver charms with red or green for a holiday look?

To create regular pearls, like in the necklaces posted earlier, you can just put the pearl paint on the non-stick craft sheet without any thread. When it dries, add Helmar's 450 Quick Dry to the back and place the pearls on paper, fabric, or even FabScrap's filigrees.

When I wear my dangle, my family and friends are shocked that it was handmade. In fact, when they find out it is they have to take another look. ;)

Splish Splash with a little bit of Acid Free

Hi Everyone, Beck here with another project. This time I am sharing how you can get more out of your Helmar Acid free glue.

I have ALWAYS loved those clear looking droplets of colour for boy layouts as what I call ‘boy bling’. I have since gotten to creating my own allowing me to be more in control of how big they are. I absolutely love them for water layouts too, and well in this one I have brought the two of them together!

To create the dots, all you need is a craft sheet, some Glimmermist or chalkboard as well as OF COURSE your Helmar Acid Free Glue.

Simply place dots of the glue on the craft sheet.

While still wet, give them a spray in your desired colour. The colour separates a little, but don’t worry. 

Allow them to dry (the white in the glue disappears) and simply peal them off and stick them to your project. I find that I don’t even need to add any glue to stick them down ESPECIALLY when placed on the photo, as it sticks SO WELL to that surface!

To create the layout I have also used some Helmar Liquid Scrap dots to lift the ‘splash’ created out of the patterned paper.

I hope you enjoyed my share today and have a go at creating these yourself. There are limitless applications for this techniques, including using stensils, creating different shapes as well as Flowers that I will have to share in another post!

Fun with FabScraps & Helmar!

Hello Helmar Fans!  My name is Natasha and this is my first post as a new design team member.  I am so excited to be able to share my work with you all today!

This week we are featuring the fabulous products manufactured by FabScraps.  Add a little Helmar adhesive into the mix and we get an amazing combination!  I created the layout below using the following Helmar products: 450 Quick Dry, Quick-Fix Adhesive Runner, Zapdots and Liquid Scrap Dots.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I created this layout using four different collections by FabScraps: Heritage, High Tea, Burlesque and Vintage Baby.  The baby in the photo with all of the pigtails is my daughter a few years ago.

To me, my baby girl is beautiful both inside and out.  She is the kindest and most caring person I know.  I love her gentle soul and how she is so incredibly unique.

The flowers were adhered using Zapdots.  These foam adhesives are perfect for creating dimension.  The flower with the pink center is hand-made.  You can find the tutorial HERE.

This cute filigree embellishment is also made by FabScraps.  I added rhinestones to the bodies of the butterflies to further decorate them.  I adhered the butterflies to my layout using Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots.

My dear friend from Australia sent me this gorgeous Vintage lace.  I adhered it to the back of my circle element using Helmar 450 Quick Dry.

The leaf is also a filigree embellishment made by FabScraps.  The edges of the photo of my daughter were dry-brushed with white acrylic paint.  I tucked a layer of tulle behind the photo to soften the feel of my layout.

Just a little warning... I am an eyelet fanatic so you will see plenty of eyelets on my projects!  LOL!

FabScraps "Charmed" Necklaces

 

I am by no means a jewelry maker, but I love all forms of art. Being a mixed media artist, I can't help but have my hands into all forms of creating. FabScraps is not only a great company for scrapbooking, but I fell head-over-heals for their charms and filigrees. They are perfect for making those one of a kind necklaces for yourself or a loved one this holiday season!

 

Here is a video of the necklaces and how I created them.

I used Helmar's 450 Quick Dry for both necklaces.

Note: In the video you can see a white glue on the flower. I tried using Helmar's Gemstone Glue but I ended up using 450 Quick Dry instead after removing it with Helmar's Remove, their awesome adhesive removal. (Gotta love the creative process!) I would recommend 450 Quick Dry on any crafting metal surface.
