A week ago my youngest celebrated his 1st Birthday, and well seeing it was so close to Christmas I wanted to make it extra special. I planned and got busy as soon as I decided on a theme. Over here in Australia we have a cute character who’s name is ‘Hoot’ and his best bud Jimmy Giggle. They are a wonderful pair that do a number of little stints between the shows on our kids TV channel. Both my boys just love Hoot and so I decided to do a Hoot themed party.
I got VERY busy with my Helmar creating flag bunting, labels for the food as well as circular print outs that could be used to decorate the food that wasn’t blue, orange or white just to give it an extra ‘Hoot’ feel.
Here are some close ups of the decorations I made for the party.
The flag bunting was made by adhering the different layers with Helmar Acid Free glue. I then used some Helmar 450 Quick dry to adhere the flags to some ribbon before hanging them up.
I also used my Helmar 450 Quick Dry when creating the party favours that were in the glasses on either side of the cake. I used it to adhere circles with pictures of Hoot and blank ones that I could add names to the kids receiving them.
All of the food had 'Hoot' themed names that I made these little place cards simply by punching out the circle with a punch and adhering it with some Helmar Acid free
These circles were also punched out with a punch and I simply adhered a tooth pick to the back of them using some Helmar 450 Quick Dry.
The label for the punch bowl was easily done by first covering the peg with a strip of paper with some Helmar Acid free. I then added a punched out lapel to the front of it using the same glue.
I bought up these disposable cake stands up and decorated them with more punch outs. The jelly cups also had the circles adhered to the tops.
We also have a problem with where we put our birthday cards as the wind always comes in the door and they end up on the floor. But no more!! I created a peg birthday wreath similar to the one seen in Carisa's post for the 'Helmar Holiday Hop'. I have made it so that the name for the person's birthday is on the peg which is easily changed. It is a much nicer way to display our birthday cards and now they can't fall on the floor when the wind comes in the door!
I hope I have inspired you with some birthday decorating ideas that were quick and easy to make.
Happy Creating,
