Hi! It's Carolyn! Hope you have been enjoying all the May Arts and Helmar projects this week. Today, I have a "new-for-me" project---a Canvas! I don't make many canvas projects but I felt that with the new year---I need to branch out and try NEW things.
So here it is....a canvas created with some paints, some stamps, some Helmar products and some lovely May Arts ribbon:
I started out with a flat canvas (as opposed to a traditional wooden mounted canvas.) I painted it with buttercreme acrylic paint. After that dried, I covered the canvas with some Helmar Decoupage and Craft Paste. I stamped the image (Hero Arts) with Memento ink on some white tissue paper. I pressed the tissue on top of the Decoupage paste. Then, I applied a thin coat of Helmar Decoupage and Craft Paste over the tissue. I paper pieced the leaves and flowers on the canvas using paper and adhered them to the canvas with the same Helmar Decoupage and Craft Paste. Shading was achieved using some alcohol based markers.
I used Helmar 450 Quick Dry to adhere the rose May Arts ribbon pieces over the flower tops. I added the sentiment sticker along the bottom before I splattered some blue acrylic paint over the canvas and then punched the holes at the top to insert some May Arts black string.
What do you think? I have a LONG way to go in making beautiful canvases but Helmar products made the process pretty easy and fun so I think I will keep practicing!!
I hope 2012 fills you with the desire to try new techniques. Just remember...whatever you are crafting---Helmar has a glue for that!
