I have a cute framed piece I made today to share. I saw something similar on Pinterest and thought I would do one for the baby's room, getting prepared for when he arrives in a month!
I used Helmar Gemstone Glue for this one, because I was gluing onto glass. It worked perfectly.
I also used Helmar Antique Acrylic Sealer on the frame to make that look a little more professional.
First I chose a wooden frame and took it apart. I cleaned the class and prepared the frame.
I used distress Ink (Walnut stain) to darken the frame and concentrated distressing the indents and the corners (It looks better already).....then I added the Antique Acrylic Sealer
You have to be a bit careful adding this as it moves the Distress Ink about a bit, so dont paint over it too much.
Set this aside to dry.
Next I got a piece of paper and drew the letter I want to display. (Baby's name starts with B.) I layed this on my work space and positioned the glass over the top, so I could see through it.
Now I started collecting the colour buttons I want for the project, and began laying out the design the way I wanted it, dispersing the colours evenly and filling in gaps with smaller buttons. It does take a little shuffling, but it works in the end.
I started gluing with the Gemstone Glue covering the back of the buttons, quite thinly, to try and avoid glue seeping through the holes. Gemstone Glue is extrememly sticky and is difficult to get off your fingers (it wont just rub off like the 450 will.) So be careful you dont get it anywhere else than on the very backs of the buttons. It does dry clear though, so you cant see it on your project if you do happen to get little bits coming out the edges.
I set it outside to dry in the sun.
All put back together.....
very cute in Baby "B's" Room.
Thanks for dropping in today!
