Create Your Day with Susan K Weckesser, Unity Stamp Co. & Helmar!

Hi Helmar Fans! Are you enjoying our Unity Stamp Co. + Helmar + Susan K. Weckesser week? Carisa here and I am just in LOVE with the new Susan K. Weckesser stamps at Unity Stamp Co.! They are so whimsical and fun. As soon as I got the set Poised & Pretty, I couldn't WAIT to color that beautiful vintage girl and paper piece some pretty dresses on her!

And the new papers by Susan K Weckesser are just STUNNING for paper piecing. I love the double sided patterns and the bright colors mixed with amazing kraft.

I decided to make a card using these fabulous stamps and papers. It came together so quickly and I'm in love with the final result.

Here you can see the great dimension I got by using Helmar Zap Dots and to pop up my image, I used Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots in order to pop up the smaller areals like her arms. It's also great to get dimension when you are placing it on top of different textures like the doily and ribbon.

 

I love that banner and the sentiment that comes from the set Create Your Day....We really need to do that, don't we? I stamped the banner once and then again without reinking it to get a nice faded and layered banner look directly on the pattern paper. All of the pattern paper I used come from Susan's new line. I love all the texture and colors!

Here is a close up of the iamge. I colored her using Copic markers and then stamped and fussy cut her dress. I used Helmar Acid Free Glue to adhere the dress onto the image. I also used some Copic markers to create some depth by adding shading directly on the pattern paper.

And here is the full card. I added the doily and sheer ribbon using Helmar 450 Quick Dry. I adhered the main card panel using Helmar Premium Craft Glue.

Helmar's AUGUST Challenge.......

                                   Welcome to the Helmar August Challenge. 

This time we are going to be playing with Helmar's adhesives and some simple 
embellishments.  You can create what ever you want but just include these items 
on your page.

5 Staples of any kind
3 buttons
a banner
and a frame.

A nice easy one to start with. 
So heres mine.....

I used all the items required and some Helmar Liquid Scrapdots and Helmar 
450 Quick dry. The scrap dots gave some of my paper embellishments some 
lift and dimension, and the 450 Quickdry is wonderful for gluing down edges that 
wont lift and fabulous for a strong hold on buttons, and other dimensional items.

So its as easy as that.  Just include the required Elements and load your 

completed project to the Helmar Flickr page

and add your details- (Load your project, Click on your image, then click on 

Actions (top left), click on Add to Group and then select Helmar Challenges, 

then add the details, ie August Challenge and what Helmar adhesive

Create, Inspire, Love...Helmar + Unity + Susan K. Weckesser!

Good morning!  

Helmar is joining up with Unity and Susan K. Weckesser to bring you another week of amazing creations and I am so excited to be able to be apart of it!

Jamie with you today I am sharing a double-sided frame that I created using several of Susan's papers along with her Unity stamps and of course some amazing adhesives from Helmar!

Supplies:

Patterned Papers: Beautiful Daydreams, Live In Color, Live In Color Tags, 

Bouquet, and Live, Love, Create by Susiebee Studios (Susan K. Weckesser)

Stamps: Painted Sentiments SB-981A by Susan K. Weckesser (Unity Stamps)

Adhesive: Adhesive Runner, 1/2" White Zapdots, 1/4" White Zapdots (Helmar)

Ink: Bundled Sage Distress Ink by Tim Holtz (Ranger)

Frame: Double-Sided 4x6, Tolsby (from IKEA)

 Tutorial:

1.  Cut your papers for the first side of the frame.
2. Use the Helmar Adhesive Runner to place adhesive along the back edges of the long paper strip.
3. Adhere the paper to the left edge of the frame mat.
4. Use ½” White Zapdots on the back of the Live In Color Tag.
5. Adhere the tag to the center of the frame mat.
6. Use the Helmar Adhesive Runner to place adhesive along the back of the scallop punched strip.
7. Slide the frame mat into the frame and then adhere the scallop punched strip as shown.
8. Using the second frame mat, ink the “Create” stamp with the Bundled Sage Distress Ink.
9.  Stamp the “Create” stamp at the top center of the frame mat as shown.
10. Next add the “Inspire” stamp as shown.
11. Lastly, add the “Love” stamp as shown.
12. Fussy cut the three butterflies from Susan’s paper and add ¼” White Zapdots to the back of each.
13. Place the second frame mat in the frame then adhere the butterflies as shown.

I love that the frame can be rotated for a different look, this will be a great addition to my art room!

A World of My Imagination {Using Beautiful Papers and Stamps by Susan Weckesser}

When I first saw the papers and stamps from Susan Weckesser, I was taken by the amazing sense of whimsey and happiness that just emanated from the designs. I knew right away that I needed to create something with these products that worked with my funky imagination, even if it was a little bit quirky.  I am so blessed to have the opportunity to use Susan's products, and I cannot WAIT to put together something else as soon as I can!

The artwork on this paper was so beautiful, that I knew right away I didn't want to cover it up at all. I knew that it wouldn't require much to make something lovely; so I chose elements based around the whimsey and carefree nature of the design, in bright and happy colors. To keep this paper umbrella open, I used my Helmar Decoupage medium to gently stick down the underside of the delicate paper...and it flattened it just enough to add a fun texture.

Since my decoupage glue was handy, I just lightly dipped my finger in it, and rubbed it over the surface of this yellow polka dot piece of flair. It made it super simple to just shake on a little fairy dust glitter from Clearsnap, and have it look smooth and sparkly. I also used the Unity/Susan W sentiment stamps, to add the beautiful words to the page. While the ink was wet, I added some more glitter...and it made each word have some lovely texture and sparkle, too.

To add an even dreamier/fantasy style look to this layout, I painted with a pale cream/pink mixture around the edges of my photo, to blend it into the paper; and cut out the right side of my daughter in the photo, to help it appear as if she is leaning into the fantasy world Susan created. The butterfly wings, and the pink crown enhance that fantasy look as well. The crown was adhered using my fabulous Helmar 450 Quick Dry, and the other elements with 450 (the ballerina) or Gemstone glue (the crystals and metal)...for a completely crystal clear, beautiful look.

Scrapbooking with Susan K. Weckesser and Unity Stamp Company

Welcome to another week featuring Susan K. Weckesser Inc. and Unity Stamps Company! We are so blessed to have Susan as a part of our design team. She is such a talented artist and she has shared her talent with the rest of the crafting community by releasing new stamps with Unity Stamp Company! I was blessed by receiving Susan's ABC. 1, 2, 3. Washi, and A Little Grundge Love sets.

I love Susan's papers; they are described as whimsical. I would say that describes them perfectly.

There are so many ways to use these stamps with these papers, but I wanted to showcase them on a scrapbook layout.

These papers are made from 100% recycled paper. I was so surprised at the thickness of them. They feel like cardstock. So, I used it as the base of my layout, knowing it was going to be able to hold all of my layers.

1. I first threw some Mister Huey's Mist on the page. The paper didn't warp at all with the amount of paint on the page. I regret now adding a little more pink and blue in there. ;)

2. I started to add my base papers and then photos with Helmar's Premium Craft Glue. I love this glue because it also doesn't warp my paper or photos and has a good bond.

3. I then stamped Susan's ABC. 1, 2, 3. Washi, and A Little Grundge Love sets on white cardstock with Versafine Black Ink. This ink gives such a clear and crisp image. Cutting the alphabet stamped image in half, I glued them into place.

Both the brackets in the A Little Grundge Love set are different. You can see on my layout that one has a cracked look and the other a painted look. I liked both of them as they were and placed both on the page.

The washi tape stamp is going to be very popular! I love it! I can imagine adding it to masking tape or stamping it in all the bright colors of the rainbow!

4. I then used a diecut to make a "watercolored" doily from Susan's paper. I LOVE this! It looks like I really watercolored a doily! Super cute!

5. After gluing down all my elements, I added my title and colored in the letters with a blue Sharpie.

6. Lastly, I used Helmar's 450 Quick Dry to add my rhinestones ensuring they stay in place for good.

Home is Love with Susan Weckesser & Unity

I haven’t made a card in a while now, much less something so whimsical, but I had such a fun time jamming to some loud music and playing with these ‘oh so cute’ stamps by Unity that were designed by my friend, Susan Weckesser.  I’m just thrilled to be able to say this gal is a friend of mine, honestly.  The fact that she’s also a Helmar hottie is just a bonus.  I met Susan last year and she is absolutely adorable and just as sweet as she can be.  She is one of those true gems of a gal.  OK, so I’ll stop gushing over Susan.   However, she did design some fun stamps and I had the privilege of playing with a few.  

The houses are just adorable and, since my brother just moved into a new home, this was the perfect opportunity for me to use them.   I expect to see these in quite a few art journal pages too.   I also used some Susan K Weckesser, Inc paper, again designed by Susan Weckesser, to build my card along with Papertrey Ink cardstock. 

1.  Cut cardstock 7 x 10 and score at 5 in to create 5x7 card.

2.  Cut card front base from desired patterned paper at 4 7/8 x 6 7/8.

3.   Stamp 2 images of house from the happy homestead by Susan Weckesser & Unity stamp set on two different papers.  I positioned the one to the right so that my fence would be on white paper and the windows would be over the yellow flower.  This will be my background piece. 

4.  After cutting house out from desired top layer, use an X-acto knife to cut out windows and part of door so that it will open.  If you will cut on a glass mat with the X-acto knife, it will cut so much easier. 

5.  Use a black Faber-Castell Stamper’s Big Brush Pen to color all exposed edges inside and out of cut design and various colors of Faber-Castell Stamper’s Big Brush Pens to decorate any other desired parts of house.  I also added a little Viva-Décor Ferro paint to the roof.

6.  To create shadows and dimension, use Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots on back of top house and layer over base house.  Let dry.  Remember that it takes Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots 24 hours to cure, but they are set in about one hour.  The dimension is SO worth the wait and you have a little play time to move the piece exactly where you want. 

7.   Adhere card front to card base using your favorite Helmar adhesive and then stamp Home and Love on card front leaving room for your house.  I also stamped the sun from fly away in the top left corner.  These were also stamped using Ranger Archival Inks.  I added mini alphabet stickers to spell ‘is’. 

 

8.  Use Ranger Archival Ink to create a little neighborhood scene stamping with Unity Stamps designed by Susan Weckesser.  The collections used here are fly away, little haven, and heart-felt warmth.  I used lighter colors to just fade into background and be subtle so that my sentiment would stand out. 

9.  The sentiment, miniature trees and pebble path were stamped using Boards & Beams stamp set from Papertrey Ink.   

 

10.  After Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots is dry, you can adhere house to card base using Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive to guarantee a firm hold and quick dry. 

11.  My final touch on the card front was to cut a little fringe from a strip of Susan K. Weckesser Inc patterned paper to create a little grass and flowers.  I used Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots again to glue these in place.

Now, I need to get this card in the mail to my brother and his family.  Congratulations, Jesse and Becca, on your new home, and congratulations, Susan Weckesser, for some great new stamp designs.

An Awesome Cross Promotion with Helmar,Unity Stamp Co. & Susan K. Weckesser Inc.

Hello there!

I am SO Excited about this cross promotion that is happening with Helmar, Unity Stamps Company, and my company Susan K. Weckesser Inc. I have been so {THRILLED} to see all the wonderful creative artwork that is being done with the wonderful products from Helmar, Unity Stamps, and mine. I really have felt so INSPIRED and I hope that I can share something with you! 

For today's post I took out some of my Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive Glue, my Live in Color paper line which is now available through Want2Scrap , and my 'Fly Away', 'Painted Sentiments', and 'A little bit of Washi' stamp kits from Unity Stamp Company. 

First I made some fun washi tape with my stamps. I used Canvas Corp's wonderful tissue paper to stamp on with Clear Snap's ink to create Washi tape that acts like... well, like washi tape. What is wonderful is that you take the Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive and put it on the tissue stamp with a little spatula and the stamp goes like tape and shows no glues lines! LOVE! 

For the background of my layout I had fun drawing with watercolor pencils and stamping away with my stamps. Just being {colorful}.

Since I used a darker color for my background I wanted to make my words pop. So, I wrote the sentiment that I wanted on lighter paper and glued it on with Helmar's 450 Quick Dry Adhesive. I used one of my stamps from the 'Painted Sentiment' kit to start the sentence.

I love to add color and whimsy to my artwork & I do this in different ways. Here are some off the ways that I do it...

1) Punch butterflies out of my 'Live in Color' paper and glue them on with Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive. Always use GOOD glue like Helmars!!! 

2) Add BLING! Love this bling from Want2Scrap.

3) Use colorful & sparkley {EMBOSSING POWDER} with the stamps. I used American Crafts brand with this project.

4) Outline.... I LOVE to outline and highlight when creating a layout or project. I like using good pigment art markers. The ones I used in this project were Kuretake's ZIG Memory Writers in Black & their chalk pastel color in white.

5) Gotta SMOOCH! *giggle* I love adding bits of wonderful color to images, art, photos....you name it, and Clearsnap's SMOOCH is AWESOME! 

Just a little bit of extra, MAGICAL color to a project adds so much pizzaz!

Unity Stamps, Susan K. Weckesser working with Helmar

Did you ever wonder if you had the opportunity to meet one of your inspirational mentors what would you say? Well in this case for me I have watched this beautiful artist grow into a fantastic designer and it was not until recently I have realized how much she inspires me along the way. Susan K. Weckesser is now working with Unity Stamps and Want 2 Scrap with some fantastic products!

We here at Helmar got to be lucky enough to play with her products! There could not have been a better threesome in whimsical watercolor heaven then Susan K. Weckesser's paper, her stamps from Unity Stamps and Helmar ! Come on and take a look!

I love how these papers make cards so easy. I am not really a card making gal but this was a piece of cake. The Unity Stamps are just as sweet as Susan K. Weckesser's paper. I used Helmar Craft glue to adhere the layers, Helmar Gemstone Glue to glue on the Dew Drops and Helmar Zap Dots to pop up the "Feeling Blue" corners.

 

I am still in love with this technique with the gemstone glue and foil. (For a brief step by step in this post called "Everything is Peachy with Helmar Glue and Robin's Nest Dew")

 

Using this generous sized background stamp I created some texture to this card. I just love the whimsical circles don't you? They pair so well with these lolly-pop flowers from Susan K. Weckesser's water color patterned paper.

Here is a close up of the background stamp from Unity Stamps. It is all so sweet and yummy! I just love it!
