Helmar + Glitter = My 1st Post

Hello everyone!
I am so thrilled to be here today sharing my first post and project!!! Oh  how excited I was to open my first package of Helmar supplies.

I had a project in mind but it had to be an organizing idea for me. Let me share a few steps along the way to create this glitter organizer.

Just happened to find this package of tall salt and pepper shakers and knew they would be perfect for my glitters.

So the products I used are

Craft Glue 8.45 fl.oz.

450 Quick Dry Adhesive 4.23 fl.oz

Quickfix Adhesive Runner

Decoupage & Craft Paste 8.45 fl.oz.

Zapdots Clear Round 1/4"

 

 How about this, the container was the perfect size and piece to use for keeping all the glass shakers.
I used some of my favorite papers from My Mind's Eye- Lost and Found. I find that the Helmar 450 works fabulous to hold the paper on this cardboard

I used Quickfix Adhesive Runner to attach the vintage trim in the inside and on the outside. I found that using just a small amount of Craft Glue 8.45 fl.oz.on the cut ends of the trim holds them down and prevents them unraveling.I had these wonderful pre-made flowers from my friend Natasha...attached with some Zapdots Clear Round 1/4".

I even used  Craft Glue 8.45 fl.oz to attach the glittered letters so they stay permanently ...I hate when they don't stick .

 I filled all the bottles with different colors using a funnel. It was harder to choose which colors to put into containers.

All I needed to do was label my containers with some baker's twine, I just used some old fashion metal circle tags and wrote the colors. I decided I would use the Decoupage & Craft Paste 8.45 fl.oz. 
to seal the writing just in case it gets wet.

This is just a start of organizing a few of my glitters and I hope to organize many more of them this way. Hope I inspired you to think "outside" or maybe "inside" the box when using Helmar products.

There's no falling flat with Helmar!!

Cindy here today sharing a couple of projects with added dimension thanks to Helmar Zap Dots and Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots .

This cute little seal is actually a sign that’s about 12” high that I made for my Granddaughter’s seal themed birthday party a couple of weeks ago.   I used my electronic die cutting machine and cut out the seal image and it’s layers, then on to assembling with my Helmar Products.

The banner along the bottom is lifted off the base using Zap Dots.   They give a uniform, sturdy lift.     For the seal body, I first gave it some shape by rounding it gently with my hands.  I then applied several areas of Liquid Scrap Dots to the back and adhered it to the base.  The Liquid Scrap Dots adjusts to the varying depths required with the rounded shaping.     The button, half pearls, and lettered beads are all adhered using Helmar Gemstone Adhesive .   

 

My next project is a keepsake box.  The box is cut on my machine and assembled with Helmar Premium Craft Glue.  I secured the ribbon around the edge of the lid with Helmar 450 Quick Dry because it doesn’t show through the ribbon and now the ribbon won’t slip with handling.  

Top embellishments include a piece of a net type holiday ribbon, adhered to a paper base with Helmar 450 Quick Dry and then that piece adhered to the box using Zap Dots .   The sea images are machine die cut, assembled, heat embossed and then adhered to the top with Zap Dots.  The reliable Helmar Gemstone adhesive is used to securely attach the brass starfish.

Hello all you Helmar Lovers...Martha Richardson here! We have had the best time this week as we blend Helmar and Core'dinations together. So make sure you check out the Helmar blog and the Core'dinations blog to see all the incredible projects created by design team members

Today I want to share with you a journal that I created for ME…my birthday is on the 11^th of Jan. and we will not discuss the year:) I will be traveling on Jan. 10^th from the East Coast to the West Coast for Winter 2013 CHA and celebrating it with all my arty friends from all over the world so I’ve created this to help record my trip. Let me show you what I created.

Hi everyone!! Julie here with you today and this week I am way excited as we are teaming up with Core' dinations! I just love love love their cardstock!! And it teams up perfectly with Helmars 450 Quick Dry Adhesive glue! 

 

 

I also made two cards using Core'dinations papers and Helmar's 450 Quick Dry Adhesive glue!

Breaking the norm...and some rules with Helmar and Core'dinations.

I'm usually not much of a card maker. don't get me wrong, I make all the cards I give for friends birthdays and special occasions, but I usually don't go out of my way to make a card "just because". When presented with a pack of Gemstones Pearlescent Finish Cardstock from Core'dinations, I couldn't help but break out my dies, and start piecing a card. These papers are part of the Cut and Emboss Series, and are made for embossing and die cutting. The 4.25x5.5 inch dimensions of each sheet were perfect for feeding through my diecut machine without needing to be trimmed. Each cut was clean and precise, which made putting my card together a breeze!

I used a base of Core'dinations Color Core Cardstock, and sanded the edges to distress. Did you know They make a nifty little sanding block called the Sand It Gadget? With 2 sizes of sandpaper, in 150 and180 grit, it's the perfect little sanding tool! Although the Pearlescent finish paper states it isn't sandable ( due to the finish) I had to give it a shot anyway ( I love to break rules...) I wanted to see if I could sand a bit of the edges of the stainned glass to give a bit of texture and colour variation to the glass. While you wouldn't want to use this technique for most projects, I think it works well here.

The card base, the leaded frame and inserts are all stuck together using Helmar Acid Free Glue. I made sure the surfaces were all free of sanding dust first, by wiping them with the Dust Buddy Cloth.

The window frame is glued on using Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots to give it a slight lift.

I also used Liquid scrapdots to prop up the leaves that I die cut and embossed while Helmar 450 Quick Dry keeps the roses securely in place.

There's nothing like having the right product and tools at your disposal to make a project go smoothly!

Core'dinations Cardstock, Helmar, Holidays and Decorating on a Dollar with Grace

Good Morning Helmar Fans!

Homemade ornaments are all the rage and today I am going to show you how Core’dinations Cardstock and Helmar make it look amazing! So, are you ready to pull out the craft supplies and get ready for the holidays? This would be a great low cost gift idea too! Lets call this one a Decorating on a Dollar project... you see the foam ornament I used as a base was found at the $1 store. They were not just 2/$1 but 2/$0.50. This entire ornament cost me about $0.78 to make. Not to shabby if I do say so myself.

 

Supplies:

Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive

Helmar Craft and Hobby PVA Glue

1 12x12 sheet of Core’dinaions Cardstock - I used the Vintage Collection

Core’dinations Sand It Gadget

Box of straight pins

1 Styrofoam ball (mine are not white or green, they are $1 store ornaments that are foam)

Ribbon of choice 8”

Holiday embellishments to top it off

Shimmer Mist (Bronze and Red)

Snow Writer or white puff paint

Jingle bells

Twine

Step 1: Take 1 12x12 sheet of Core'dinations Cardstock and cut it into twelve 1" wide strips. Then cut those strips into 2" long pieces. You should have a lot of 1"x 2" pieces of Core'dinations Cardstock.

Step 2: Take one piece of the cardstock and fold the upper right corner to the bottom middle. then the upper left to the bottom middle. Your piece should look like the middle one below. Then distress the front edges with the Core'dinations Sand It Gadget.

Step 3: Take 4 of the triangles and pin them in each corner at the bottom center of the ball as in the photo below.

Step 4: Pin (only on two corners) another 4 triangles over the outside corners of the new square you formed in the image above. Should look like the one below when you are done. Keep adding row after row of these triangles making sure to use enough to cover all of the ball. TIP: to secure your ribbon cut it 8" long and pin it in place with one side pinned to the left of the ball and the other side to the right. Cover all ribbon pieces that are pinned to the ball with cardstock triangles to hide it. This should leave a loop at the top when your done (see photo on step 6).

Step 5: Once you are done with the entire ball it should look like the image below. Spritz it with any shimmer mist of your choice and add puff paint/snow writer to create the snow. Let Dry. Look at that colored core of the Core'dinations Cardstock.

Step 6: Once dry it is time to embellish the top. I added two bows, front and back, of twine. Added some holy leaves behind the bows using Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive. Tie on bells and glue in place to secure with Helmar 450 Quick Dry. Let dry completely.

Step 7: Using the Helmar Craft & Hobby PVA Glue adhere the styrofoam berries to the top of the pine cone and the tops of the bells.

There you have it... A beautiful easily distressed and assembled pine cone ornament. Thanks to Core'dinations Cardstock and Helmar.

Confessions of a Cardstock Junkie.

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE cardstock.  Love it.  I would take plain cardstock over patterned paper any day.  One of my all time favorite cardstock brands is Core'dinations.  It is fan-flippin'-tastic!  The paper is quality and thick. The variety of colors is never-ending.  There are even styles that you can sand, rip, and tear in cool ways.  I know, it is crazy good!  Check it:

Core’dinations Cardstock and Helmar Make a Great Team!

Hi everyone! It's Kate Vickers here today. I'm kicking off our Core'dinations cross promotion event! We are very excited here at Helmar to be working with Core'dinations. I created this Christmas Card with Core'dinations cardstock which I dry embossed with a Tim Holtz embossing folder. To highlight the pattern, I lightly sanded the high parts with a Core'dinations sanding block. I added a glittery die cut, some patterned papers and ribbons on top and finished the project off with a tag that I die cut out of the same Core'dinations cardstock as the background. I highlighted the edges with some green ink from Close To My Heart. All items are adhered together with Helmar 450 Quick Dry.

My second project was done with a Core'dinations cardstock in green. It has numbers dry embossed on it and when sanded down as seen here the numbers become highlighted. I love the overall effect and it coordinated really well with this line from We-R-Memory Keepers. I used Helmar Premium Craft Glue and the Helmar Quickfix Adhesive Runner to adhere the elements to my project.

Here is a close up of the Core'dinations paper along with the coordinating embellishments and patterned paper.
