The Many Uses Of Helmar

Hello Helmar fans! Liz here today and I have several fun projects to show you using a variety of Helmar products.

I teach the teenage girls during Sunday School on Sundays. I thought it would be fun to make them some cute hair clips.

Here is how I made them: To make them stiff and hold up, I soaked white fabric in a bowl of Helmar's fabric Stiffener until it was completely covered. I removed the material out of the bowl, scraped off the excess glue and laid it flat overnight. The next day I ran my dried cloth pieces through my Sizzix machine to cut the flower petals. It was so nice and stiff, as if I was using paper.

To give each of  the petal layers dimension, I glued each layer together using Helmar's Liquid Scrap Dots.

I made a total of 12 flower hair clips, they were super easy but the best part of the whole process was the girls' reactions. They loved them!

Pinewood Derby is the topic of the week in my house. Under my son's direction, my husband has spent countless hours sawing and sanding to make this pinewood derby car the star of the show.

I finally got my hand on the car to paint it and seal it. After the paint dried I sprayed a heavy coat of Helmar's Crystal Kote Gloss Spray to give it a nice, shiny finish.

The race is tomorrow so we'll see how we did!

You'll never never know if you never ever go !!!!!!!!!!

I'm talking about the Northern Territory - we have some awesome things up here to see and do.

My LO today features one of the things we have heaps of here - they scare the .... out of me really but this picture is awesome so i had to use it. We had family and friends visit recently and we went on a trip to the jumping crocodiles and this is one them. Its breeding season up here at the moment so we got to see lots of nests as well and all those females protecting all their eggs................

so with out further a do here it is.....................

My base is made from Helmar's 2 step crackle medium, which sort of looks like croc skin hey ??

Helmar 450 Quick Dry got my vines & Twine into place. Helmar's Acid Free was used to secure my photo & heading to the LO.

A handy hint about  Helmar's 2 step crackle medium  I learnt this time round. I started with step 1 of the crackle medium and covered a fair area then when dry iIgrabbed my step 2 of the crackle medium to find i was low :-( so I only put it in a few places. Once dry I sprayed ink sprays and let dry again - once dry i found that the areas that only had step 1 applied to it acted like a resist, look above and you will see what i mean - the whiteish areas - pretty cool hey??

I love my HELMAR 2 step crackle medium if you didnt know - off to order more ...........

Poppin' and Lockin' with Helmar!

Unfortuante for me (and probably my family, my first grade students, my friends, the world...), i have no significant dance skills.  My self-esteem does not suffer because I shine in so many other areas (wink and smile :), but, MAN!...I sure would like to have mad skills on the dance floor.  To be able to POP AND LOCK while BREAKDANCING would be fantastic.  

The point of my story here in the blog is this:  Helmar is not just an awesome adhesive, it has given me the life long dream of being able to POP and LOCK...only on paper.  Fan-freakin-tastic!

There is this amazing product called ZAPDOTS and if you are looking for a little POP off your page (or project) and LOCK (with super strong sticking power) like I was, look no further. 

I am pretty particular about my scrapbook pages and I don't like things to get too bulky.  ZAPDOTS are perfect for me because they are just the right size/height.  However, if you want even more POP, you can stack them on top of one another.  Fancy. 

I used ZAPDOTS on this page because I wanted the ball to POP. 

 

I liked the effect so much that I got all sorts of crazy and used them on another sports page.  Check it:

New Year, New Plans

Happy New Year! Vicky blogging today. First up is a card I made to MYSELF, using the January Helmar Challenge as inspiration. I used a beautiful paper from Meg's Garden "The Spring Paisley" collection and I attached a transparency butterfly with clear Zapdots and some pretty flowers with the 450 quick dry.

This is the challenge this month and I chose a peachy orange and teal blue. My list is actually inside the card and with an extremely personal top 5 things I need to work on. I plan to keep this card sitting on my home desk to remind me each day of the important life goals I have set for myself.

 

Up next is a layout using the newest Pion Design collection "Play Time" and the January Once Upon a Sketch challenge. I find pink the easiest color to scrap and this collection is just so cute. The journaling on the back of this layout reads:
I have a wonderful life but am looking to you to point me in the right direction to find my inner child this year and make time for more fun... to create more wonderful memories, love Mom, xoxo (January 2013).

This project was made using a lot of Helmar goodness. I used the premium craft glue on the paper layers, the 450 quick dry on the flowers, the adhesive runner for the photo and the acid-free glue for the chipboard.

Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots & Crackle Medium make a WOW card!

Hi Helmar Fans!

 

Today I have this beautiful card to share with you that I made. I was working with a White On White (WOW) challenge & with the help of a couple of my favorite Helmar products, I really made it pop. It could only have the dimension that it has due to my must have adhesive: Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots!!

 

I love using Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots when I'm adding butterflies to any project. You can give the wings some extra flight just by placing a small dab under each wing. Then just adjust the wings to your desired effect.

 

See, how simple this is! I just love the stunning effect.

 

One of my OTHER favorite Helmar must haves?! Helmar Crackle Medium Step 1 & Step 2. I love how simple it is to use with the fabulous cracks! I added Step 1 to the wood veneer after I had stamped the sentiment on it and white washed it with Faber-Castell Stamper's White Big Pitt pen. Wait just 10 minutes and add step 2. To speed up the cracking process, I place it in front of my little space heater that keeps me warm while I'm crafty in my craft cave. hehe You can also use a little heat with a heat tool OR just set it aside and work on something else. ;)

Happy New Year-Helmar January Challenge

Welcome to the Helmar New Years January Challenge. So its officially 2013..... Happy New Year!!!

There is a prompt to use Blue and Orange, but any shade of these colours is fine, Its totally up to you. Use the word "LIFE" somewhere on your page and use lots of Helmar adhesives.
