Today I am playing with Viva Las Vegas Stamps they come in great boarder
patterns like chevron, grid, reverse grid, stripes and more. A former design team member mentioned this little trick to me in passing. I just had to give it a try! Using Helmar Acid Free Glue as a Resist medium!
To start this project off I printed out qotes from a groom for the wedding decor I am working on.
Since these are ink jet printed I want to point out the mistake on the one on the right. TIP: Quickly dab/blot Helmar Acid Free Glue over the lettering do not brush or swipe it. Work quickly then don't fuss. Leave it till it is dry or the ink will start to smear.
After the Helmar Acid Free Glue is completely dry then you can stamp over it. Pretty simple! Yet is has such great potential. I am not much of a stamper but these Viva Las Vegas Stamps pattern stamps are so fun!
Here are some more tips... I thought a craft ink pad would be awesome since it would take longer to dry. NOPE! It has more pigment and is harder to "wipe" off the resist area. Use a water based ink! Also make sure the glue is 100% dry. Helmar Acid Free Glue drys completely clear and turns clear before it is 100% cured. The insert on the left shows the glue grabbed the yellow where the one on the right shows more of the resist. But it could work either way depending on the look you want!
That is it! Simple and fun!
Play with it and let me know how you like it!
