Hi, Beck here again with a little project I recently created in preparation for my first ever booth at an expo - Melbourne Papercraft Expo with my kit business Scrappy chat Designs and how Helmar helped it all come together. Exhibiting meant we were going to need some stylish name badges that would need to be strong enough to carry us though the busy 3 days.
I designed them using some lovely Spellbinders dies for the base which was cut out of one of their Media Mixage aluminum sheets using the Artisan X-Plorer machine. I also cut the Gold labels four die out of some core-dinations cardstock that went oh so well with my booth theme colours.
I added some beautiful Kaiser blooms, Prima pearl flourish and decorative embellished heart. I finished it off some some awesome bling as well.
To keep it together between the layers of the badge I used some Helmar Liquid Scrap dots to add a little dimension as well. After letting this cure over night to ensure a strong bond, I began to embellish.
I added the pearl flourish to some acetate to give it strength hanging off the edge and then adhered this to the badge with some Helmar 450 Quick dry. This was followed by the Heart and flowers all adhered gently with Helmar Liquid Scrapdots for dimension and strength.
To ensure the alpha stickers didn't come off I added a little Helmar Foam glue behind them as well (as that is what they are made of).
I adhered the bling cluster with some Helmar Liquid Scrap dots, perfect for metal embellishments (that is what the backing of this piece had) which moulded to the shape of the back.
Lastly I added a magnet set off the back of an old work badge using some Helmar Foam Glue to adhere the bit of foam that is between the metal pieces. There are two parts to the magnetic badge set, and you just slip your clothing between the two... no unsightly holes to deal with after you take your badge off. Clearly not everyone has these, so you could simply add a broach pin with some Helmar Liquid Scrapp dots or Helmar 450 Quick Dry. here is a pic of the back so you can see what it looks like.
It was important to me that it all had a strong bond as I didn't want them coming apart half way through the show. So I did use a little Helmar Liquid Scrap dots than I would normally. Being a silicone based product it is SUPER strong to get into those grooves and bond once it has had time to cure. It also allowed me time to play around with design while I got it right due to its slow cure time.
Here are some more pics of the badges. The other badge was for my dear mum who it wouldn't have been possible to do this show had it not been for all her help!
Here is a pic of my booth that I was so proud to have all ready and set up at the start of the show
I am also glad to have used Helmar glues on so much of my work as nothing on the layouts on display came off either! Something that is SO important.
I hope you have enjoyed my share today and thanks for stopping by.
