No-Sew Halloween Treat Bags

Hi everyone, Katie here! Today I wanted to share with you guys these easy gift bags I created. Want to know a secret? There's no sewing involved when making them!

Just Helmar Fabric Glue!

 

 

Here's how I created them:

Supplies: Muslin fabric 9"x6", Helmar Fabric glue, Helmar Crystal Kote Gloss Varnish. Ribbon, Stamps, Gelatos, Gift Tag, Clothes Pins

 

1. Apply a line of Helmar Fabric glue along the top edge of your fabric piece. That's one of the long 9" edges.

 

2. Fold the top edge over to make a nice hem.

3. Flip your fabric over so that the hemmed edge is on the back. Apply Helmar Fabric glue to the edge of one side and half of the bottom of your rectangle.

 

 4. Fold the left side over and press down along the 2 glued edges. (Side and bottom)

5.Let the glue dry and then flip right side out. Continue embellishing with stamps and Gelatos or paints.

I sealed my colors by giving them a coat of Helmar Crystal Kote Gloss Varnish.

Once everything is dry, fill with treats or gifts! Finish off by tying it closed with a ribbon and attach a gift tag with a mini clothespin!

It's Getting Spooky Over at Helmar!

Hi, Veronica here today to share with you my "Spooky" Halloween Pop Up Card!  These are so fun to make and you can use any theme you wish and of course using my favorite HELMAR products makes it easy.

I used the following product to make my Halloween Pop Up Card.  

First some Quickfix Adhesive Runner.

Next I used some fabulous Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive 4.23 fl.oz to adhere embellishments, ribbon and transparencies to the card

 

 

Lastly, I used the Zapdots Clear Round 1/4" to adhere some chipboard embellies and stickers to 3/4 inch accetate that I cut. 

I think this pop up card turned out pretty cute and I love the way all the goodies "Pop Up" from the card.  This card also folds so that you can mail it.

Poison Treats Box

I hope you all are still preparing for Halloween, because today I have a creative treat box to share with you. It's so easy to create your own desktop Halloween treat box.

Once your co-workers see this box, they will be begging you to create one for them as well.

To get started, all you need is two sheets of 12X12 pattern paper, Score Board, bone folder and Helmar Super-Tac Glue.

Score your pattern paper to the desired dimensions and cut the sides to properly fold each corner.

Because I'll be adding weighted embellishments to the box lid; I secured the lid top with a heavier piece of card stock using Helmar Super-Tac Glue. This will help secure the weight attached to the lid as well as give a more secure grip when opening to retrieve candy.

Next, it's time to create the actual box by adhereing the sides together. I used an adhesive spactula to spread my adhesive to each fold.

After folding up each edge to create your box and box top, now it's time to embellish this spooky treat box.

To start building my embellishments, I used two wooden polaroid frames and adhered them together with Helmar Silicone Adhesive Sealant.

After painting and drying the frame, adhere it to the center of the lid.

I allowed this part of the project to set over night. When using the Silicone Adhesive it really doesn't take much to hold up the object you're adhering.  These small viles of glitter was just enough to make sure my frame didn't fall over.

Continue to build on your embellishments using Helmar Super-Tac Glue.

Now it's time to build up some layers.  A quick way to create your own embellishments is by using epheremera.  Here you will see how I used Zapdots 3D double sided adhesive to build my layers and I added colored gauze using Helmar Super-Tac glue to create my own embellishment.

Continue to build layers and layers of embellishments and you will have a BOO-tiful treat box.

A Very Mickey Halloween

I tend to go in spurts of how my craftyness (is that a word?) comes out.  Recently I've started playing with paper, stickers, and photos again and it's been a nice change of pace from my home decor projects. I got a big stack of pictures printed and among them were some of last years Halloween photos.  

Among the pictures were some of my little man in his cute Mickey Mouse costume.  I decided to make over sized pendants out of pattern paper to house my photos, title, and date.  I even used some hand stitching along the top to "string" them together.  

I used my trusty Helmar Quick-fix Adhesive Runner to put my layout together. 

Just a quick dab of adhesive in each corner and a couple in the middle was all I needed for photos and pattern paper.  

I then used Helmar Acid Free glue for the small strips of pattern paper and title.  

I tend to use liquid adhesive when the pieces are small and intricate.

I loved putting this together with my grid/pendant type design and Helmar adhesives  made it quick and easy.

Hello, my name is Nicole.  I live in northern UT with my three boys:  husband Brandon and our two boys Wesley (11) and Thomas (2).

Yep, you read that right my boys are nine years apart in age.  It has its challenges at times, but it's so much fun to have another little person running around here.    I work part time in the mornings as a cake decorator and the rest of the day I'm the regular SAHM.

Hi, my name is Veronica Johnson alias “Kitsnbitscraps”. I have been doing crafts since I can remember, my mom taught my sisters and I to knit, sew, cross stitch, embroidery and I was always coloring and sketching. I was raised in Southern California in a little town by the beach called Hermosa – then I was transferred to South Florida. I was introduced to scrapbooking by my new co-workers in Florida and that was 12 years ago. BOO-tiful pumpkin

Hi everyone, Sandee here today to share with you how I recycled some Halloween crafts from last year into this years upscale pumpkin. I don't think I've ever had such a fancy schmancy pumpkin before!

Last year for Helmar I showed how to create the glittered spider web and spiders.

First I laid my glittered spider web doily flat and adhered some dangly beads with my Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.

I then set the doily over the pumpkin after cutting a hole in the top to see how the fit matched up with the size of the pumpkin. It was a little too large so I had to make some adjustments by altering the doily by clipping some of it's webs and regluing them back together with my Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive. I have to say that I am continually impressed with the Helmar Craft & Hobby PVA Glue as it stayed flexible a year later!! And the Helmar Crystal Kote Gloss Varnish kept all the glitter intact! Awesome, huh?

Next I added some leaves that I had painted to the top of the pumpkin stem and then finished it off by adding the glittery spiders!

Bright & Colorful Postcards

Hi I'm Tamiko! This is my first blog post with Helmar.  There are many people that do crafts everyday.  We learn from them and hopefully, we produce some great projects in the end! I live to the share things of people who inspire me daily and I hope to share  some of those finished items with you.  :)   My first project I would like to show you is my *Tiffany* inspired postcards that I made to send a few friends. 

 

 

I first took some papers ripped them into small pieces. I have used old newspapers and book pages. To be honest anything with a print would be more than cool. I then took the papers and adhered them to larger pieces of chipboard or junk mail with Helmar Decoupage and Craft Paste. It goes on thick but thins out really well and gives awesome coverage. Use a scrapper or an old giftcard to move it around the page and then again, to thin out your paper bits and remove any air bubbles. :)

 

 After I left the pages with all the bits to dry for a few hours, I began to decorate! I used some gesso.. slathered a little color, stamped for texture and doodled! I really got some awesome images! :)

  

Wait a minute!  We ARE making a postcards! So, I then flipped the cards over and used a Helmar Tacky Craft Glue to attach a plain white cardstock. I now will be able to use my postcard stamp and to write my note and address my postcard!  Make sure when you cut your cards from the larger papers that you cut 4in by 6in. (dimensions of a post card)

After that was all done.  I decided to do one more thing.  I needed to use the  Helmar Crystal Kote Gloss Varnish to preserve and protect my work.  So I took my cards outside and sprayed them. The color seemed to intensify!  :) 

These cards are fun to create, gift, swap or receive in the mail! YOU can design them by whatever speaks to you most, they are your cards. Just don't forget to have Helmar Adhesives nearby.. I don't think I could have done it any other way! Using Helmar assured me that my postcards were sturdy and my images were protected enough to be sent through the USPS. I hope you give this a try.

Hi everyone today I am sharing a card I made. I normally don't do simple, but for some reason I really loved the look of these colors together

For my background i used a piece of hessian to give it a textured look 

I applied my favorite Helmar Super-Tac glue on all the piece to adhere them to the hessian and card.

The Helmar Super-Tac has got to be the best glue for canvas, mixedmedia,

you name it.

A Spooky Cute Mini Album

I found these large bingo cards in my stash and thought they would make a cute album!  I punched holes in them and docorated the two pages.  I now have a mini album ready for Halloween photos!  To make this you'll need large bingo cards, Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive and Helmar Liquid Scrapdots or Zapdots, and embellies to finish.  I'm also going to show you these cute tiny dollar frames that I found at Michaels.  I used cute Halloween cards to put in them and I think they'll be cute with the rest of my Halloween decorations!

Spooky Stamping with Scrap Dots!

Greetings and Salutations! Jennifer (aka Scraps), here, and I'm pleased as Halloween punch to be sharing my first post as a new member of the Helmar Design Team! Today I'm going to show you how to use Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots to make your own stamped ribbon for a fraction of the cost similar ribbon goes for in stores!

It all started when I saw a spool of artfully tattered Halloween ribbon for sale and thought (as I'm sure many people do) 'I could totally make that.' I've carved stamps from rubber and cork before, and you can cut foam pieces into shapes for stamps too, but I had a hunch that one of my favorite Helmar adhesives--Liquid Scrap Dots--would be perfect for this.

After sketching out my skull shapes onto a piece of cardstock and slipping inside a page protector, I piped the Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots over my images just like I would icing onto a cake and then set them aside for a day to make sure they were good and dry before handling them.

Just as I suspected, the slick plastic of the page protector allowed my piped figures to peel right up and the back of the "stamp" clung easily to acrylic blocks or other spare bits of plastic, like the lid from a storage container wide enough to hold three of my skulls.

For my ribbon I'd hunted up some black canvas in the remnants bin of the fabric store, knowing that they almost always discount those bolt ends 50%, so I got half a yard for less that $5.00. Once torn into 3 1/2"-wide strips (for the nicely tattered edges) and pieced together it came to just over 9 yards. And since I had everything else on hand, this was a very pocketbook-friendly project giving me 3 times the ribbon for less than half the price of one.

Now it was time to stamp! To prevent the acrylic paint from building up around the edges of the stamp, I used a foam brush to apply a coat of paint to the stamps rather than set them into a puddle of paint like a regular stamp. And even though I liked the texture that the right-side-up stamps gave me, after a few repeats I decided a blockier image would be better, so I flipped the shapes over (using a bit of Helmar Quick Dry 450 to adhere them to another spare plastic piece as a base since the "front" isn't as grabby as the flat back sides) and kept on stamping. 

The thin coat of acryllic paint dries pretty quickly, so stamping the whole 9 yards didn't take all that long, especially using my ironing board as a long, easily moved work surface. Once the last section had dried I ran both long edges through my sewing machine set on a wide zig-zag, both to add a border to the ribbon as well as keep the subtle fraying from going too far. 

Then it was ready to wrap around the staircase railing!
