Wow! Can you believe it's Christmas Eve? I am sure snacks are already being prepared for my family. We do Christmas Eve, so we can spend Christmas Day reflecting the day, going to church or whatever else one wishes to do. So let's get started!
I created a pinecone Christmas tree and a charger that I did the countdown from December 1st as Day 25. My daughter has autism, she pays attention to a time clock, but not physical days on calender. For some reason she understands, when you count backwards you will finally get to a goal/destination. She also likes and prefers minature things, hence the smal tree. We have another tree, but this one is for her, in her sitting area.
As usual I used a lot of Helmar adhesives and while it is not neccessary to use everything I have here, it is great when you can CHOOSE to USE the BEST.. and DO SO!!
Let's start with my pinecone tree. I first used a bunch of Deco Art Acrylic Paints, in my fave bright color hues to color one side (actually the underside) of the seed scale. I let it dry.
I sat it to the side to dry and then went to build my base. I cut out 2 round circles from cardboard to adhere to a cyclinder shape piece, to build a stand. I first painted them white, then I used Helmar Decoupage and Craft Paste to do a lil collage and give the stand some texture.
Then I took some Helmar Super Tac EVA and adhered the cyclinder shape to the flat circles. I cut off any excess papers. Then I took the same glue and added a flat back pearl trim to edges of the stand.
I finished the stand off by adding color with my fingers, decided I couldn't do anything just black and white! :)By this time my pinecone tree was dry, I grabbed my Helmar Craft and Hobby PVA Glue. I chose this glue specifically because it comes out kind of runny, for lack of more techinical term. I needed that, because I planned to use my paint brush to apply my glue. I wanted to be able prepare as many seed scales as I could, so I could glitter in batches. I hope that makes sense?
As my tree dried... I prepared my final day for my charger. I got a wooden bird from Sandee Setliff, a dear friend and #HelmarDT Sister. After painting my little Partridge I added him to the charger with black Helmar Zap Dots. I love those double sided deminsional tape circles! They are so AWESOME! I mean I knew it before today.. I am just reiterating it to you! (giggles) They really, really held that wooden piece to my plastic charger!!
I also took some wooden snow flakes.. painted them.. and painted some of the Helmar Craft and Hobby PVA Glue yet again and sprinkled some more glitter. ::loved sprinkling glitter will probably being weaing it till NEXT Christmas.. smiles::
Then I added Helmar Scrap Dots to prop my flakes up on my little bird and charger.
And finally a close up of the my birdie on charger....
Well.. I have held you up LONG enough!! (smiles)
I want to WISH you ALL a MERRY CHRISTMAS from my family to you and yours!!
