Greetings and salutations! Jennifer, here, with a fancy ornament project perfect for vintage decorating.
I'm pretty obsessed with my Victorian home and, in addition to our usual Christmas decorations, I was set on creating a more traditional Victorian-style tree for the library. The Victorians often decorated their trees with paper ornaments--a pretty good place to start for a crafter, right?
After finding some images of Victorian ladies on Dover Pictura, I decided to combine them with some simple, gathered "skirts" I sewed, attaching them and their trim with Helmar Fabric Glue. The Victorians love their fussy fripperies, so I also added additional braided trim and sequins to the ornament.
I finished the ornament with coordinating glitters attached with Helmar Professional Acid Free Glue that I applied with a brush for maximum precision.
I'm looking forward to putting the finishing touches on my Victorian tree this year and building upon the tradition on future Christmases.
Wishing you creative days,
