Hello all! Nicole here today on the blog to show you a St. Patrick's Day card. I really enjoy making items and decor for St. Patrick's Day and I really think it comes down to the simple fact that I really like rainbows. I'm not sure where my love affair with ROY G BIV started maybe it has something to do with growing up in the 80's and watching/playing with Rainbow Bright . . . . ? Whatever it may be I wanted to share my process of making this fun rainbow card:
Supplies to gather:
Kraft card base
fine green glitter
Helmar Tacky Craft Glue
Cardstock in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple
office transparency
(Not pictured)
gold foil cardstock
ribbon
Helmar Quickfix Adhesive Runner
Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots
chalk ink
To begin I cut a piece of cardstock slightly smaller than my card base.
Using my Silhouette Cameo I made a few stencils/masks from office transparency. One stencil of shamrocks in varying sizes and also masks of puffy clouds.
I used the clouds by placing them on the base of the card and inking over the top of the cloud masks with blue chalk ink.
Next I took each of the six cardstock colors and cut a 1/2 inch strip off each piece.
Using a Helmar Quickfix Adhesive Runner I attached the strips of cardstock to the card top in rainbow order.
Trim the overhang.
I took the shamrock stencil and placed it over my card top.
I then placed a good size amount of Tacky Craft Glue on a paint palette and over the top of the glue poured a good amount of green glitter.
I used a wooden skewer to mix the glitter into the glue.
I applied a liberal amount of the glue/glitter mixture over the top of the transparency stencil.
I smoothed the glue out and then removed the stencil.
Once the glue dries the glitter really begins to shine and by mixing it into the glue the glitter doesn't rub or flake off.
I finished the card off with a cute sentiment and ribbon before attaching my card top to the base with Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots
I love the result of adding glitter to the Helmar Tacky Craft Glue and have been thinking of all kinds of things I now want to make glittery. :)
Thanks for dropping by the Helmar blog today. Happy Crafting!
