Who says tombstones have to be scary? Not me!
Hello, craft fans! Jennifer here with a not-so-scary Halloween project using Helmar Super-Tac Glue.
You'll also need:
* Paper mache forms
* Fabric
* Scissors
* Glue spreader or palette knife
* Buttons
This is a super-simple project and a quick way to shape up your holiday decor!
Start by cutting out the general shape of each tombstone from your fabric, cutting it just a little larger . You'll need two pieces per shape (a front and a back), plus a long strip the same width as the side of your shape--in my case that was 1 inch.
Spread a thin layer of glue on one side of the paper mache shape and press the fabric, right side out, over it, smoothing out any wrinkles as you go. I picked Helmar Super-Tac Glue for this project because it's naturally thin and easy to spread. It also dries fairly quickly, but not instantly, so I don't have to wait very long before being able to flip it over and do the other side.
You also want to spread a little glue onto the sides and fold over your excess fabric. It helps to clip any inside curves and pinch the outside corners where the fabric meets. Trim off the extra around the corners to get rid of any bulk.
Now add some Helmar Super-Tac Glue along the sides of shapes, smooth it out, and apply the narrow strip of fabric, nice and neat, to seal up those open edges. I prefer to start and end on the bottom where it won't show when they're on display.
I had plenty of the narrow strips leftover, so I created a coordinating band around each tombstone.
That didn't use up the strips, so I folded a bit of each into thirds to make a loop, pinched it in the center and secured it with a combination of more Helmar Super-Tac Glue and another small piece of fabric, then attached them to the bands with a green button for decoration.
Since this fabric was leftover from a previous Halloween's crafting, these new decorations will seamlessly slip into our look for the upcoming holiday.
