Hello everyone. For my Christmas themed post today, I am demonstrating how to make ornaments. I made these ornaments and then let them dry, two of my grand kids (boys) love doing "crafting time" at Grandma's house. So I thought, lets make a present for Daddy and they were all for it (kids like giving presents too!).
Here is what you will need:
Blender
scrap paper
water
mold of your choice
paints, any c0lors you choose
Helmar Decoupage and craft paste
pins
wire
paint brushes
2 children (optional LOL)
OK, lets get started.
First, tear up junk mail or any kind of paper you choose, put into blender with water and blend away. It pull turn into a soupy mess (paper pulp), pour into a bowl. Get your mold and grab a handful of pulp, squeeze it out and put into mold now let it dry completely.
When dry, remove from mold and grab two kids from anywhere......well, not from anywhere maybe some you know the parents of. I then let them choose the color paints they wanted and paintbrushes and then just let them have at it.
He obviously wanted to paint himself too...
Concentrating.....
I found Popeye's brother LOL
Now let them dry. I then added their names and date to the bottom. At this time, daddy came to pick them up so I told them I would have them ready for when they came over next so we can wrap them.
BUT......I coated them with a coat of Helmar Decoupage and Craft Paste first!
Then waited for them to dry.
When dry, take a pin of some kind and glue it into the ornament (you have to add glue because remember, it is made from paper pulp).
I then took wire (I used some of my jewelry making wire) and wrapped it around the pin a few times and made a look at the top like an ornament hook.
Here is a look at the type of ornaments my (soap) mold made....
They are shaped like presents. And.....we are done!
My grandkids were so proud of their Christmas present for their daddy and I too think they did an awesome job.
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day
