Helmar Fabric Glue Sewing

Hello Fello crafters, Cathy here this fine day to share a sort of sewing project, with no needle and thread but with something that is just like stitching to fabric...Helmar Fabric Glue! I was real pleased with how it turned out and wanted to go buy a bunch of plain lamp shades after to transform like I did to my plain Jane shade I had bought some time ago. Here is a picture of the lamp shade before I started and the Helmar Adhesives I used to complete the project...

I had some flower lace ribbon from Stampin up I believe; and thought it would look perfect around the top of the lamp shade..

I had a small strip of the ribbon left over and figured I might as well use it up on the shade, so I applied the Helmar Fabric Glue across the back side of the ribbon and then rolled it in a ball to create a flower to add to the decor of the shade which you will see later..

My next step was to glue some lace ribbin from my stash that I got at Michaels'...

 

After the lace was glued on I went hunting for embellishments, and came across a stick pin, a heart one that used to be my mom's ( who is living with the angels) and a regular stick pin from Close to My Heart, and some beads to add to it. I used the Helmar Craft Glue to add to the pin and keep the beads on.

 

Now here is a close up of the lamp shade,

 You can see the rolled flower I made top and center to which I added a vintage button to the center. The rest of the flowers are from Michaels' Recollections collection. I used the Helmar Fabric Glue on each pin to help hold them in as well as the feathers and leaves and flowers. Below is the lamp shade all assembled...

 

 and here it is back in it's place lit up...

Crocheted Daisy flowers and Helmar Fabric Glue

Hi all Vicki-Ann here for Helmar Creative Team today. I was asked to do something including crochet for today's blog post. Well I have done crochet a lot over the years and thought I would crochet some flowers and decorate a bag for my pens.

What you will need for the flowers.

• Helmar Fabric glue
• Crochet cotton
• Crochet needle 
• Buttons

What you will need to make the bag.

• Fabric for lining
• Denim fabric ( I used an old pair of jeans )
• Zipper 
• Sewing machine

So the first thing I did using the Youtube tutorial from Happy Berry Crochet was crocheted three flowers. I just stopped the video and crocheted along with her. Don't you love YouTube!

I needed a bag to pop my pens in that will go in my handbag. So thought I would make one. You could skip this step and decorate any bag you have but I have a bag full of zippers a friend gave me, so it was nice to use one.  I made a triangular bag at a class a while ago when I went to a craft expo. It was much simpler to do a rectangular one. For the sizing, I just grabbed my pens and made it longer than that so they fit and thought it turned out ok. I was quite happy with my little bag. 

So after my bag was sewn together. I grabbed my Helmar Fabric Glue and some buttons and glued the buttons in the center of my flowers. 

Then I popped some Helmar Fabric Glue on the back of my flowers and glued them to the top right hand side of my bag, pressing firmly. 

Of course you don't have to make the bag you could easily decorate anything with the same method. On a t-shirt would be cute or a headband.

I hope I have given you some ideas to decorate something quickly and easily with Helmar Fabric Glue. 

 

MY CARD WITH LIQUID SCRAP DOTS

Cards with dimension are definitely my passion and today I have one style that I love to make using Liquid Scrap Dots, the adhesive that gives me a 3D effect with different heights.

Welcome everyone, Martha Lucia here with a fun tutorial for you. Take a look at my card:

To create this I used only Whisper White card stock. I stamped a bold lines using Kaleidacolor Ink to create the background.

Then on a separate piece of card stock I stamped the flowers and petals using Versafine Onix Ink and then fussy cut all the images.

I arranged all the stamped images over the background piece and one by one I started to paste them with Liquid Scrap Dots.

On some flowers I add a bigger amount of scrap dots and in others I only put a few. With this method I obtained different leves on my stamped images.

When all the flowers were pasted I added a message that I cut from a die cut as a final touch and I pasted it partially with Craft & Hobby PVA Glue.

Time to Play & Make some Noise | Krisy Podolak

Hi Helmar Followers,

It's Krisy back today to share a project that you can get the kids involved.  My theme this month was Children's Musical Instruments.  Another random topic, I know!  I thought about this one for a while and then decided it was best to create something simple that my kids would enjoy and even help make.

My eldest daughter has recently started kindy and my son has not adjusted very well to being without her.  So I have had to make special efforts to find things that he enjoys doing to take his mind off her.  He is very interested in my Craft room but tends to get bored with the things on offer to him.  So, on the day I put together this project, I made it all about him.  I was making these for him to show his sister when she got home and he could help glue and cut and even take my pictures.  The whole making process only took about 20 minutes with a bit of trial and error.  Just long enough for him to feel like he really made something and not lose interest.

Today we made Castanets.  These are a basic early childhood activity that can teach children important skills.  I will go into that later.  Let's get making....

Here's what you will need:

• Some Cardboard
• A ruler
• a pen
• Some Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive
• Bottle caps or champagne caps (Note: different caps make different sounds so a variety is good.)
• Some paper for decoration and maybe some ribbon

Now, at this point, I think I should note...I had an idea and not really a plan.  I set about cutting my cardboard to lengths that I thought would work but I didn't take into consideration the depth of the caps so I started again.

First, you need to cut your cardboard to size.  I used the length of my sons thumb and forefinger as a guide.  The castanet sits in these fingers to make them work with a pinching grip so cut them to whatever length is required.

Ours were about 4 and a half inches  long and about 2 inches wide.  You need an extra bit in the middle to make a double fold to take into consideration the height of the bottle caps once they are glued in place.  You can see the spine in the next photo, this was my first failed attempt it actually had to be a little wider probably more like half and inch.

Once you are happy with your cardboard base, you can now decorate the outside. We used one of my daughter's 20 paintings she has brought home from Kindy and she is only on her third day!  We just trimmed it to size and glued it in place.  We also added some tassel trim ribbon just because we could. To stop the ribbon fraying we added a little Helmar Fray Stop to the ends. Oh, and we added some wood veneer initials too, so there is not fighting.

           

Then we just used a fair amount of Helmar 450 Quick Dry to glue our bottle caps into place.  It is not pretty but it is nothing a coat of acrylic paint couldn't fix.  Now for the hard part...Waiting for it to dry.

In all honesty, we only waited a few minutes.  Who has time to wait until things are fully dry!?

This is  a great little project to include little people.  It is also a good project to help develop Pincer grip which is important when kids are learning to write and need to grip a pencil.  In todays' day and age with technology, this is a skill that is getting used less and less. I often hear my husband (who is a high school teacher) complain some kids still don't know how to hold a pencil properly.

Handmade gift for Daddy's office....

Hello crafty friends, Sarah here with a simple project you can make for that special man in your life. When I looked around the house at the many coloured pencils that are strewn around and with many pencil cases in the cupboards, this idea came to me....a bonus that it is uses a recycled tin. 

What you will need for this project is:

Tin can

Coloured pencils

White gesso

Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive

Embellishments of your choice - for this project I used Dusty Attic chipboard pieces and embossed them with black embossing powder.

Step 1 - Cover your tin with a layer of gesso.  This is probably not needed, however I thought it would give more of a surface for the adhesive to stick to.  I had tried the Helmar Woodworking glue, however the pencils slid around a bit and I love the immediate adhesion of the 450 Quick Dry Adhesive glue (this is my favourite adhesive!)

  Step 2 - Taking your adhesive, stick each pencil on to the tin, being sure to stick them on straight

       
   

Very easy!  Be sure to hold the pencil in place for a couple of seconds to allow the adhesive to bond.  Some people may prefer to use pencils all of the same size and height to have a more uniform approach, however this did not bother me.  As mentioned earlier, I was using up supplies I had around the house.

I used chipboard 'gears' and embossed them using Versamark and black embossing powder from Stampin Up! I adhered these using the Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.  I love the way it turned out!

   

As I was creating this project, my youngest son, Mr 3 decided he wanted to make something also.....he painted another tin using acrylic paints, sealed it with Helmar Crystal Kote Gloss Varnish and stuck various embellishments on it using the Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.

   

A great project (or variations of) to get the kids involved to make an upcoming handmade Fathers Day gift or a gift 'just because'!  Thanks for joining me...until next time!

 

She Said Yes!

Today I have a project for you showcasing the moment my daughter's boyfriend proposed to her.  He was kind enough to plan the event and include our entire family in the actual moment! She knew he was going to propose but she did not know when, so yes, she was surprised. 

My supplies include a Mixed Media Receipt Holder (JillibeanSoup), chipboard, flowers, leaves, ribbon and paint. I grabbed my Helmar Super Tac Glue and my Scrap Dots.

 

I painted the chipboard and adhered the ribbon, frame and photo using the Super Tac. I also used the Super Tac to create my cluster of the flowers and leaves. Here is a close up of the cluster.

Helmar ScrapDots was the perfect adhesive for adding the heart and words. This gave it a bit of dimension.

HI! My name is Jean and I live just outside of Grand Rapids, MI. I have a twin sister and for the majority of our lives, I was the math and science one. I stayed far away from anything that involved art or being creative. Once I had children, I started scrapbooking. This was back in the days of colored cardstock and deco scissors. Two things last year brought me to where I am today. I unexpectedly lost my job and my second child was married. With both children grown and out of the house, there was only so much I could scrap. And yet, I had a room full of paper, stamps, ribbons etc. Last year I took an art class and am now using those supplies along with paints and pastes to create mixed media canvases, mini albums, and frames. G’day! So Cliché I know. LOL.  My name is Krisy and I am from sunny Queensland, Australia.  I am a full time stay at home mum to three, Poppy 3, Leo 2 and Autumn 1.  I have always been creative but decided to really focus on sharing what I create the year my youngest daughter was born.  I set myself some creative goals and the next thing on my list was an International Design Team. St Patricks Day Scrapbooking Layout and Sweet Treats:

Happy St Patrick's Day!

Now I do not celebrate this day but it is always a good excuse to make some sweet treats. Here I have made some Shamrock Cup Cake holders and Chocolate Boxes. Simple but effective! I am sure your work colleagues would be very happy!

All you need is white and green cardstock and of course adhesives!

I have used my Silhouette Cameo to make my Shamrocks and Chocolate boxes but there are many templates on line so you can hand cut if you do not have a machine.

I have used Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive to adhere my Cup Cake holders and Chocolate Treat Boxes. Ensure you do not over do your glue keeping in mind you are adding food into them.

My little Shamrock sticks I have used Super-Tac Glue as I needed a strong glue to adhere the two shamrocks over the wooden toothpick.

 Here is a layout for you but I have given it a bit of a twist going more modern than traditional.

Again I found a Shamrock shape but this time to add a modern touch I have gone for a Geometric Shamrock.

I have framed my doggie picture with a black glitter frame with St Patrick's Day.

For my title I have used black cardstock and again I have used a cutting machine but you could use any alphas you have at hand. What a great title!

I found the MEH! speech bubble in my stash and adhered with Helmar Scrap Dots to add height and give a 3D effect.

I used the Helmar Super-Tac Glue for my Glitter cardstock St Patircks Day frame as it requires a more substantial adhesive.

For my Shamrock and title I have used Helmar 450 Quick Dry glue.

A simple and clean looking layout made visually interesting by the over sized shamrock and contrasting block colours.

Craft Technique - Shabby Chic Layered Gift Tags:

Hello fellow crafters!

Today I have some super pretty tags for you and in a couple of hours you can recreate these using left overs from your stash.

 

Firstly you need 1 sheet of white cardstock, 1 sheet of patterned paper and vellum paper.

The white cardstock tag needs to be cut the largest, then the patterned tag slightly smaller and finally the vellum slighter smaller again.

I used Helmar 450 quick dry adhesive, gluing in the centre only so the tag layers would still appear at the edges.

I then cut a gauze piece into small pieces and slightly teased them out. You can purchase packs of gauze pads from your local chemist at a small cost.

I attached the gauze with Helmar Fabric Glue, using a small dot in the middle.

My next layer I added a leaf layer (I am sure you will have similar in your stash!). Again I used the 450 quick dry adhesive to attach and again only using a small dot in the middle.

Now for the fun part making your layered paper flower. I used a hand paper punch and cut three different sizes and a centre.

I slightly rolled the petals upwards so they did not appear flat. I then used Helmar's Liquid Scrap Dots in-between each layers and to attach centre. This gave my flower height and a 3D effect of a real flower. I then attached this slightly off centre over the leaves with the 450 quick adhesive glue.

I have finished by attaching a gem stone and using black and white twine.

Simple, quick to put together but so pretty, well worth the effort of a couple of hours.

Time to Celebrate

Hello there, today I have a layout to show you featuring gemstones.
These pictures were taken at my daughter Daisy’s Valedictory celebration last year in the photo booth.
The gemstones I used were from a bracelet that belonged to my Mum. Sadly it broke but I’ve re-purposed them on this lovely layout.

These are the materials I started with:

JoSonja’s texture paste
Kaisercraft circle mask

To begin I used the texture paste with the circle template on black cardstock.

I waited for it to dry.  I chose some pretty papers and stuck them down with Helmar craft glue on top of the texture paste.

 

Next, I glued the photos down with Helmar scrap dots for dimension and started to add die cuts and embellishments.

The Helmar Gemstone Glue worked really well with the stones from the bracelet.
 I finished it all by drawing a border with a white gel pen.
