Hello crafty friends, Sarah here with a scrapbooking layout for you. For some reason I felt like scrapping this photo of my husband and myself from a walk we took recently around a local lake. We love to visit there with our two boys, but rarely do we stop and take photos of ourselves - this particular day, we took some random shots and this was a lovely selfie of the two of us with a pleasant background. When I look at the photo, I want to remember the story behind it - the carefree feeling of walking and enjoying the sun....hence the reminders for both of us in this layout.
Materials needed for this project are as follows;
Helmar P.V.A. Professional Woodworking Glue
Kaisercraft Ubud Dreams sticker sheet and 'Merak' patterned paper (from Shop and Crop Scrapbooking online store)
Dylusions white acrlyic paint, paint brush
Faber-Castell gelatos - colours used are Metallic Blueberry, Metallic Mint and Cotton Candy
Wooden Veneer Alpha Set from D-lish Scraps (online store)
Embellishments of your choice - Map Marker by Charms Creations (online store), date stamp, black ink
Let's get in to creating this layout....
Step 1 - Using the Helmar Professional Woodworking Glue, adhere the Wooden Veneer alphas to the Kaisercraft patterned paper base. This glue is fantastic for these wooden pieces - adhered them down without a problem. Leave this to dry.
As pictured below, you can adhere the alphas however you like - I have some upside down, sideways and back to front, just to add some interest.
Step 2 - While the wooden alphas are drying, mount your photo onto cardstock. I am using a 4x6 portrait photo and have mounted it on both blue, then white cardstock.
Step 3 - Using a large paint brush, paint white acrylic paint all over the wooden alphas. Be sure to dab paint all around the letters, in the little crevasses, etc. Once dry, paint on a second liberal coat of paint. Leave to dry - if you're impatient like me, you could help the process with a heat gun.
Step 4 - Once the paint is dry, you can apply some colour. If you dont have gelatos you could use paint for this step. Rub some gelato stick on to your craft mat and add a few spritzs of water. Mix with a small paint brush and apply to the painted area. For this layout I applied the Metallic Blueberry and Metallic Mint to be darker (down and across the painted area). I then used the Cotton Candy for a lighter wash across the remainder of the painted area. Allow to dry.
Step 5 - Now to adhere down the embellishments. Whilst the sticker sheet embellishments are sticky, I like to add adhesive to them to make them last on the project - particularly if they are to be stuck to a painted surface. I also like to outline each piece with a black brush pen to make them stand out. Using the Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive, stick down the sticker words and map marker.
Step 6 - Lastly complete the layout with any final touches - I like to add a date stamp to remember the date the photo was taken. I also add a mandala sticker from the sticker sheet.
Thanks again for joining me - I hope you enjoyed this project!
