Hello everyone, I can not believe it is already May 1st. This year is going by way too fast for me.
I have a paper purse to show you today that you could use for a gift card, a teacher gift adding maybe candy to it, a shower gift for all attending and put simple things like earrings, chapstick, etc. You get the idea.
What you will need:
Designer paper
Scoring board and tool
Helmar's Tacky Craft Glue
Helmar's Quick-fix Permanent Adhesive Runner (double sided)
Punch
Velcro
Ink pad and sponge
Chip board
and any bling you would like to use, I used:
Quilled Flower
Gem stones (fake of course)
I also made a wallet for inside with a tag saying who to and from and then glued paper coins into the wallet and the bottom of the purse.
Now for assembling.
Cut a piece of designer paper to 91/4 X 81/4 inches This will be the base of the purse
cut a smaller piece 3" x 4" This will be used for the flap (I inked this piece up) I also cut a piece of chip board the same size and glued them together.
61/2" x 3/8" for the strap of the purse ( I inked this piece up) I also cut a piece of chip board the same size to make it sturdier.
For the base piece, the 91/4 side, at 3" and 61/4" then turn your paper 90 degrees, to the 81/4" side, and score at 3" and 51/4". Now you are going to make 2 more score marks at 21/2" and 53/4" but stop at the first score line you come to. Do this step on both sides of the 81/4" sides. Now you are going to fold up your score lines except the two short ones you made. Now this part may be tricky for you to read so I will show you a diagram.....
You are going to want to cut up to the first score line on the 81/4" sides and on the 91/4" sides only cut up to the small score lines you made. Cut slivers out of each corner of those sides. Your piece will now look like this....
Now fold up the scored side pieces and use your Helmar double sided tape runner on each of the short side pieces. Now fold into a box shape. Then, pinch the top together while slightly pushing in on the sides.
Now for the flap, I used a 3" flower punch for mine. score this at 11/4" and 13/4" and fold on score lines. Attach one side of the flap using Helmar Tacky Craft Glue to one side of the purse at the top. On the other side of the flap, cut a small piece of velcro and glue onto inside of the flap. Glue the other part of velcro to the purse placing it where it will attach to the first piece when closed. (I hope this makes sense LOL).
Now for the handle. Score it at 1" and 51/2" and fold. Use your glue to glue down the two folded sides to the top of the flap.
There, your purse is done and now you can decorate it as little or as lot as you please.
