Hello crafty friends, Sarah here with you today with a 'Space' themed project. I made this Rocket door hanger for my son's bedroom - he just loved it!
The materials you will need for this project are;
- Kaisercraft Door Hanger - Rocket
- Patterned paper of your choice for covering the door hanger - I used a silver shimmer cardstock I had in my stash
- Paint - I have used black, white and silver acrylic paint
- Helmar Premium Craft Glue
- Helmar Decoupage and Craft Paste
- Helmar Gemstone Glue
- Stamped images / markers to colour them
- Kaisercraft Jewels - Miss Nelly
Step 1 - Trace around the door hanger on your patterned paper to create an outline. Cut it out.
Step 2 - Paint the edges of the door hanger - I have used black paint for this. Set aside to dry
Step 3 - Using your fingers (or a brush if you prefer), apply layers of paint to the edges of your cut out rocket piece. I used black as the first layer, then a heavy white paint, topped with some silver paint. Leave aside to dry.
Step 4 - Apply Helmar Decoupage and Craft paste to the door hanger and adhere the paper cut out to it. Set aside to dry while you colour your stamped images
Step 5 - Go ahead and colour your stamped images to decorate the door hanger. For this project I have used the Gerda Steiner Stamp Set - Blast Off, coloured with Touch Five markers. I then adhered them to the door hanger using Helmar Craft Glue.
Step 6 - Using the Helmar Gemstone Glue, I applied some gems to the door hanger to give some added sparkle
Let's take a look at the finished project....I had such fun creating this project and it wasn't too time consuming at all. The response by my three year old was "WOW!" :)
Thankyou, and until next time....
