Hello everyone! How is the weather where you are at? Here is has just been beautiful lately.
I have started making small junk journals and the latest one, I decided to use fabric on the cover using Helmar Fabric Glue.
Here is what you will need (or what I used, you can use whatever you have laying around)
I gutted an old very well used hard bound book
(save the pages for other projects)
Helmar's Fabric Glue
Material of you choice
Tim Holtz Vintage Photo ink pad
Any kind of papers you would like to use in your jounal (I coffee dyed all of mine)
Thread
Needle
Scissors
Designer paper
White paint or gesso
First find an old book where the binding is very loose, look at local thrift stores and such. I then gessoed the outside of the book so as to cover up any of the title of the book. Afterwards, I reinforced the spine with glue and a piece of cardboard.
I then took my Helmar Fabric glue and glued the fabric onto the outside of the book, wrapping it around into the inside.
When the glue had dried, I took my Vintage Photo ink pad and inked up my Inkessentials tool and went all around the fabric to make it look older.
When I was done, the outside of the book looked like this...
I then went about sewing in my signatures and decorating the pages. I love making anything vintage and these little books can be used for a vacation to put photos into and document the things you did. It doesn't stop there, you can use them for anything you want or can imagine.
Here is a side view of the book showing the pages.
Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out all of Helmar's great glues and other products they have to offer.
