Hi everyone Erin Reed here today. My sons, both of them, wanted to dress up with a sword and shield for Halloween so I set of to make a fun set for the both of them to share.....ya that is really going to work.
Brandon was my brave one to let me take his picture and his spin on the costume is being a skeleton knight. My other son wants to be a knight like one from the King Arthur and his round table of knights.
I started with a base of cardboard from a large box I saved and cute out a long shape for the sword and little pieces for the hilt. I then glued down the foiled paper with the Helmar Craft Glue. I love the Craft glue for this project because it dried fast and clear, but still allows a little bit of time to alter placement of the items if needed. Here is a video on how I made the sword.
I added in some little gems to the sword, since all sword have a fancy hilt right?!?!?
Now for the shield, I wanted to make something that matches the sword, so I kept to the same colors and feel. Here is a video on how I made the shield.
I added the cord around the inside so it could be worn on his back, and slide the sword in it so his hands are free to collect candy.
My son could not resist being goofy and had fun with taking the pictures.
Thanks so much for stopping on by, and have a wonderful Halloween!!
