Mixed Media Bookmarks with Tamiko

Hello, Tamiko here with another quick mixed media project! I made bookmarks and well, they are rather large intentionally. They measure 2.5 x 9inches and you're probably wondering whyyyyyy so big, well I read big books and I cannot lie.. (haha) A lot of the artsy books I read and my art journaling bible are quite big.. Not really novel- petite in size and well.. I lose them ::insert huge sigh here:: Well I resolved to fix that when I made these.. Let's check em out..

 

 

For the project I used:

Helmar Professional Acid Free Glue

Paper-

Base is scrapbook paper ds patterned (2.5x9in)

Top is personally made painted papers (2x8.5in)

-Watercolors, acrylic inks,  paint pens, and glitter pens

Digital image from Etsy (Sloth by )

Reading Quotes on printed paper

Scissors

Paper trimmer

Tweezers (optional)

 

After I colored/painted paper and digital images I did an awful lot fussy cutting, paper piecing and layering using my scissors and Helmar Professional Acid Free glue. This glue is super fluid and it might be easier to place some in a shallow small container and apply with a brush. I almost got out sequins and glitter...woohooo maybe next time..  Here are some close ups.

Love You to the Moon and Back

Do you walk through stores,  look at wall decor and think "I could do that"? You are not alone. I am guilty of this too.  But, you know what? You can complete these projects with just a few supplies!

Today I want to share a canvas I made for my granddaughter's room. 

And you know what? You do not need to know how to draw or paint to complete this!

My supplies include a canvas, ink sprays and ink pads, paints, texture paste, and my favorite Helmar products - 450 Quick Dry Glue, Crystal Kote Fixative, and Crystal Kote Gloss Varnish. The most important part of this project are gift bags! I am recycling ones from my granddaughter's baby shower! They have the perfect designs for creating home decor for that sweet little baby!

 

I began by creating a background on my canvas. I used texture paste, paint, inks, and more. There is no right or wrong, no specific directions. Just create a background to match your design. 

Cut out the designs you want to use and decide the placement on your canvas. Using your 450, glue them in place. 

 

Make sure you concentrate on the edges as well. 

I printed the title and sprayed with the Fixative before adhering. This will prevent it from smearing.

Once everything is secured and dry, spray with Gloss Varnish Finish. This will protect the canvas from dust and dirt. Hang on the wall and stand back and admire!  Isn't this just darling! And what a great way to recycle.

Junior Monopoly

Hi everyone, its Bridget here again.

Today I want to share with you a layout I created to capture a special memory.

Do you play board games with your family? We do I love how it gets my children off their iPads, away from the TV.  Plus, board games have great educational benefits. Junior Monopoly is great  for developing math, colour recognition, reading, reasoning, and social skills. 

My girls are getting older and it is time to pack away Junior Monopoly and play other board games. But before I do that I decided to capture this moment in a scrap booking page. 

 

Here is what I used:

Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots

Helmar Professional Acid Free Glue

Charms creations emoji

Monopoly money and chance cards

 

I used Helmar P'rofessional Acid free glue to adhere some white card stock to some nice bright patterned paper to create a border.

Then I used Helmar's Scrap Dots on the back of my photo.

I LOVE how Helmar Scrap Dots give my photos and/or embellishments height and dimension. Here is a photo to show you.

Using Helmar's Professional Acid Free Glue I attached my embellishments.

Good afternoon Helmar friends.
Today I'm sharing a sweet layout of my daughter Daisy and her
gorgeous friend Jazmine. They've been friends since birth and now they're 19 -
How did that happen?!

Here's the Helmar products I used
450 Quick dry adhesive
Fabric glue
Scrap dots
Gemstone glue

And the papercraft products I used
Cocoa vanilla Studios  More Than Words collection
Cocoa Vanilla Studios Wild At Heart collection
 The Reject Shop corrugated cardstock
Mont Marte water colours
Darkroom Door stamp
Kaisercraft Cardstock
Kaisercraft Ink
Sewing machine
Spotlight sequins
Spotlight ribbons

I began with the duck egg and white cardstock cutting the white cardstock
1 cm on all side and sewing them together. Then I splashed some water colours and
added a light stamp with yellow ink on a few of the edges.

I chose some pretty papers and started to glue the photo's in place with the
magical Helmar 450 quick dry glue, such a brilliant choice for
scrapbooking layouts that you just want to get 'done'.

 

Next  I added lovely ribbons with Helmar Fabric Glue.

 Next, those gorgeous flowers, I used Helmar's Scrap Dots
for dimension, quite a lot of it on some!

To finish I randomly glued some pretty sequins with Helmar Gemstone Glue.
I enjoyed making this one so much, this pretty Cocoa Vanilla Collection and
Helmar adhesives go together beautifully.
