Did your mother or grandmother have a button tin? I remember sorting through my Grandma's looking at the different colors and styles. That is probably why I also collect buttons. Instead of just collecting them, it is time to get them out and use them!
Using buttons and patterned paper, I made a lovely piece of home decor for my front hallway!
So let's get started. Gather up your supplies including pattern paper, buttons and Helmar's 450 Quick Dry Adhesive and Crystal Kote Gloss Varnish.
I cut a heart shape out of white Cardstock. Using my cutting machine, I cut a variety of circles from the pattern paper. I sorted through my buttons and selected ones which complimented the cardstock. I used a variety of shapes and sizes.
Decide on a placement of the circles and buttons so that the heart shape is covered. Once you are happy with the arrangement, glue them all down using the 450. I love that this adhesive dries quickly but still gives you time to make an adjustment if needed.
I repurposed an old frame by painting it black and sealing with the the Crystal Kote Varnish.
It gives the frame that shiny finish and will protect it as well.
Allow the heart and frame to dry. The final step it to glue the heart to your background paper and mount in the frame.
This would be a fun way to display a sentimental collection of buttons or just a fun project for the kids to practice their colors.
Here is a close up of the finished project! I hope you enjoyed this and consider trying it yourself. If you do, please be sure to share with Helmar on Facebook.
Thank you for joining me and I hope you take time to be creative!
