Hey folks, Tamiko here! Have you ever just created because you needed to utilize something you just holding on to? That happened to me with a huge bath and body shower bottle. I planned to reuse the bottle and mix some olive oil with some of my favorite lotion and just sit it on my desk! It's winter here and the skin becomes extra dry. Knowing I have prettied up this bottle reminds me of its true use. Plus if I don't like it, I can toss it. I'm not really attached to it! Check it out!
Items needed:
Helmar Decoupage and craft paste
Empty large bottle with a pump
Deco Art- Titanium White Paint
Assorted Napkins
Brush
Paper towels
Water
Colored pencils
I began by removing the label only to find out it was easier to leave it on and saturate the bottle with Helmar H300. The label easily came off with a tiny bit of buffing there wasn't any sticky residue on the surface of the bottle. I took some acrylic paint and covered most of the bottle. I chose white because it would make my napkins' colors pop a bit more. Here's a few photos!
After all the napkins were applied, we took a moment to allow all to dry. I then took some additional paint to help blend some of the napkins and add highlights to my polar bear. I also did some additional pen and pencil work on the images within the napkins, just to neaten them up... Adding a little trim with my Helmar Professional Craft Glue.
Not everything we want to up-cycle will be a big tah-doo to everyone, but it will always leave a a pleasant smile on your face when someone compliments your very simple and almost effortless project. (tee hee) If you feel like taking a few extra precautions for this project, spray with a little Helmar Crystal Kote Fixative. It is collage and you may find little bits and bobs to add right on top of of this. The spray will protect what's underneath and prepare the piece for additional work!! If you know like I do, you better get on over Helmar USA and check out the products and see what's new and what can you add to your DIY stash!
