Planner clip turned wall trinket

Hello, from Tina. So, what had happened was...

I received some awesome planner clips in a happy mail envelope.  These clips were so me. I mean I love to write and I am, after all, a super hero. (in my mind-tee hee hee)

Then this happened from over use...

I have this little business card holder stuck to the wall in my office. You know the ones you get in a swag bag with a logo on the front. So, I decided to try the Helmar craft glue.

I also glued down some of the frayed edges on the Super hero emblem.

This worked amazing! The glue adhered really fast so I didn't have to take the business card holder off the wall in order to glue it while lying flat. 

I love it when a plan comes together!

Materials:

Super hero emblem (or any bobble)

Sticky back business card holder

Gift Box by Suzanne Franin

My project for the Helmar Blog is a gift box made from a box that had a mug in it (I think it was a Father's Day Mug).

Make sure you check out the whole blog for the rest of the Design team projects they areas creative I'm sure you will find something you will need to make. 

 

This is the top view as it's hard to take a view of the whole box but I really only decorated the top other than adding material to the bottom which you will see next.

I painted the box with Dark Chocolate Impasto from Finnabair. 

I used the Fabric Glue and an old gift card to smooth it out so there was no creases or bubbles.

I also went over the box as I did each side with the clean side of the card to make sure it was smooth.

Then with the lid I use Rusty Paper paint and a little bit of the Dark Chocolate Impasto to make the lid look old and warn like it's been left in the weather for years. 

I had some IOD moulds from Prima I had made up with paper clay that I glued down with the Super-Tac Glue which I also painted with the Impasto. 

I tried to make sure I painted each layer as I added them so I wasn't trying to get paint etc into grooves later.

This ornate chipboard frame from Memory Maze I glued with the 450 Quick Dry Adhesive - I so stuck every thing else with this as I'm inpatient and hate waiting and this dries pretty quick.

I also painted it in the Rusty Paper Paint.

Unfortunately this photo is a bit blurry and I didn't realise till I was finished but you get the idea I added some lace to the side.

This is where I embellish the box adding Prima flowers.

A Frank Garcia Hardware spoon in pink I just love these and the Mermaid Beads are the perfect colour to match.

Under the spoon is a peice of Prima lace which is a lace flower which I also cut another one in half and added in two places.

I went over the lid with Mint Sparkle Art Alchemy Wax by Finnabair and the paperclay borders and the frame.

Then I went over it with my favourite wax Opal Magic Vintage Silk by Finnabair.

I love to mix a couple of the waxes together.

Acrylic Pour Journal Cover

Hello there, today I decided I would like to try my first 'Acrylic Pour', I'm not really a mixed media artist of the paint variety but I do like to try my hand at new things.

 

What you will need:
Helmar H4000 Silicone Oil
Journal cover/canvas
Gesso
Acrylic Paint in colours of your choice
Small containers
Levelling tool/spatula
Dishwashing Liquid and a drip tray

Firstly I applied a Gesso to my cover pieces, mine is a clear Gesso.

Once this is dry I covered the two pieces with my white acrylic paint with just a few drops of washing up liquid added to help with the flow.

In my small containers I have a couple of drops of washing up detergent and 2-3 drops of the Helmar H4000 Silicone Oil and my acrylic paint. Stir about 6 -7 times to mix these things together.

I had seen an open cup pour on a video quite some times ago so I thought I may like to try this method for my first attempt. All you do is get a small container and cut the base out of it, place it upside-down on your canvas/cover and then pour small amounts of the pre-mixed colours into the hole you made in the base of the container. Just a small amount of paint at a time until you think you have enough to cover the canvas/cover.

Slowly remove the container and allow it to spread for a little while and then using your hands, gently and slowly tilt the canvas/cover in all directions so that the paint entirely covers it.

Before tilting, I added a couple of extra drops of paint mix to the centre as I didn't like that much white.

For the second cover I place the container in the middle to get a different look

Unfortunately I couldn't tilt and take a photo at the same time but once the surface is covered, tidy up the edges with your spatula and place it raised up on a tray to allow for drips.

I decided to add a little glitter at this stage (because that's what I like hehe).

If you want larger or more cells appearing you can take a heat gun to the piece but I quite like the look of my cover the way it was so I didn't overdo it. You can see subtle cells in it but not too many.

Overall I'm quite happy with my first try at an Acrylic Pour. I think it will add a nice interesting background to my upcoming Journal.

I will now set my work aside for a couple of weeks to completely dry/cure (and hope the cats don't walk on it in that time) and then revisit this project.

Hi everyone, how ironic is this, I created a word plaque for my craft room, the word is "HAPPY", which is what my craft room is, my happy place, the place that keeps me sane, my zen.

This project is a multi layer cardboard word, but you could use any word or letter made out of plastic, mdf or wood.

For this project I used a 12" piece of black and white flower patterned paper, some assorted black and white flowers from my stash, Helmar Crystal Kote to seal my painted word, the Helmar Tacky Glue to attach the paper and lastly Helmar450 Quick Dry to attach my flower embellishments.

First step was to paint my word I used white gesso as a base coat, then I finished off with black gesso and to seal and preserve it I sprayed the gesso coats with the Crystal Kote Matte varnish which also gave it a slight sheen.

The whole word did not fit on the 12" paper so I traced the "APP" letters first and then used the left over paper for the "H" and the "Y".

I used the tacky glue to attach the paper because it allowed me to manuver the paper to line it up exactly and also gives a very secure attachment.

I have then used the 450 fast drying glue to attach my flower embellishments 

And then it is finished

"HAPPY" creating! 

Spring Time!

Hi, I am Art Grandma, and I am asking you what does Spring mean to you?

I am so happy to see Spring up here in the U.S.A!

Springtime is a great time of year. The beautiful colors, green grass, blue sky’s, beautiful flowers are popping up and butterflies and birds are fluttering around.

This Helmar design project reflects my creativity on my thoughts of Spring!

How I created this canvas board, painted background with acrylic paints, to give it a colorful appearance.   Used my RGStudio floral stamp on heavy cardstock, colored with my colored pencils and cutout design and applied to grid with the Glue dots for dimension. I tried the Heavy Tack Glue to attach the butterfly and grid.

This was a fun project and can be framed and hung.

Shabby Chic Glue Bottle

Hello crafty friends!! I am back today to share with you this awesome project that was inspired by a fellow crafter who does magnificent work! If you love vintage, shabby chic, vintage shabby chic, then this is most definitely the project for you. But of course it really does not matter what your style is because as crafters anything can be created just as your mind visualizes it! I had been wanting to do a bit of changes to my craft area like storage areas and maybe a bit of altering to the current items that are on my desk . So while searching up a variety of DIY projects, I came across this on YouTube. The crafter had altered her bottle of glue and @ the end of her video she shared more that she had already done!! I was fascinated! So this is where I got the inspiration from! 

This project does not take a whole lot of time. I believe that this is the very 1st time that I created something so quick. So lets get right to it!

 

                                 
                           


I began by taking a piece of muslin fabric and measuring and cutting it the height of the bottle with the exception of the tip. I then had to add my closure, unfortunately I had no velcro that would be a strip, I only had the circular ones which worked. Even though they have adhesive on them, I wanted to give it an added sturdiness as I know that once I'm done with this bottle, I'll be putting my wrap on a new bottle . I decided the bottle I would be using this one on would be my Helmar Fabric Glue.
 

So with all that said ended up using Helmar 450 Quick Dry Glue for the added reinforcement. I then picked out a piece of fabric that I had been hoarding for a small project and this was the perfect one. I used Helmar Fabric Glue to glue it to the piece of muslin. I wasn't gonna be able to embellish it very much as it needed to feel comfortable enough to when I held it and squeezed it then nothing would be in the way. So I just added a flat fabric flower and and half back pearl on the center of it. 

I lastly added some stringed ivory flat back pearls along the bottom.  I wasn't sure if I wanted to add anything on the tip of the bottle and thought it didn't look the greatest so just added a little lace and some of the same stringed pearls and Voila!!! 

 

So yes maybe I did go overboard a little bit but I can't help how much I LOVE HELMAR PRODUCTS!! The link below is for the tutorial that I was inspired by, her name is Jenifer Stephens and on YouTube she is A Trace Of Sparkle

Easter Stargazers

On Easter Weekend 2016 we decided to watch something we had missed when it was live (I love that catch up TV means we can watch things when it suits us) so Easter Saturday we brought up the Stargazing Live event with Professor Brian Cox and so began a day filled with pausing iview so hubby and the boys could discuss some Astrophysics.  It was a interesting day, especially seeing E start to expand in his enthusiasm and knowledge for this topic and was just another step in my journey as a person with multiple Astrophysics enthusiasts in my life. 

 

 

I really wanted to tell this story in my album, as I don't have photos of us on the day I thought a good way to do this would be to scrap a photo of the Hubble Space Telescope  and a photo from the Hubble Space Telescope that my husband and boys love, the Ultra Deep Field 2014.

The photos from the Hubble Space Telescope are public domain which is just so awesome as it means my boys and hubby can surround themselves in their favourite photos, for example Hubby's work diary has dividers made from some of his favourite photos.

 

To create my layout I grabbed out a selection of Space themed scrapping supplies in my stash and started playing.

I decided I wanted to matt my photo on some of this shimmery navy paper I have in my stash and that I should have a border of it around my layout too.  I thought the border would be perfect for my journaling but I wanted to be sure it would fit before I started so I grabbed my gold gel pen and wrote my journaling around the edge of my 12 x 12 shimmery navy paper.  I cut out the middle by leaving 1 inch all the way around.

 

 

 

I selected a background paper from the Carta Bella Space Academy pack that I bought from Aunty Vera Scrap and Craft last year, I went with Racing Rockets as I love the Solar System map on the back.
I needed to trim it so it wouldn't cover my journalling and I started by first trimming 3/4 inch off the bottom and 3/4 inch split between the 2 sides to get a 11 1/4 inch piece.  I then checked it wouldn't cover my journalling and trimmed another sliver off the bottom and side.  

After some playing I decided to make the Hubble Space Telescope itself the main feature photo of this layout.  I matted it on some of the shimmery navy paper and then I started layering.  I had a small scrap of this gorgeous paper from my Crafter's Choice Galaxy paper pad so I wanted to save what was going to be behind my photo and I cut a little window out.

 

 

I added a scrap of the star paper from my Scrapping Fun Kits April 2018 kit and another layer of the shimmery navy paper and then I decided to use my husband's favourite Hubble Space Telescope photo as layer so I trimmed out what would be behind my layers, applied some Helmar Acid Free Glue to the inner edge so I could play with my layer cluster to get it just right.
I then applied Helmar Acid Free Glue around the outside of the back of my cluster and through the middle to ensure I would get all my layers adhered down.

 

 

For my title I decided on Easter Stargazers.  I decided to use some very useful Ruby Rock-It chipboard alphas and paint them gold to pull it all together with the journalling.

 

I adhered my chipboard alphas down with Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.

 

 

For the Stargazers part of my title I used a sticker from the sticker sheet from Carta Bella's Space Academy pack. 
I needed to adapt the Stargazer sticker to say Stargazers so I stuck a S from some old Basic Grey alphas so some white cardstock and trimmed it.  I then stuck this and the sticker down to a scrap of that shimmery navy blue paper and roughly cut around it.

As my Easter was thick chipboard I felt Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots was my best option for adhering down Stargazers as it would mean I cn adjust the height easily to suit my chipboard alphas.  I applied several dots along my word and at the S and g I added a extra on to ensure the full length of the letter would be supported.

I love how it sits up perfectly with my chipboard alphas.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

My photo cluster covered over a planet on one of the outer circles so I decided to add this cool wood veneer planet I got from Corbett Creations last year to my layout as well as the cute stars that came in a pack with it.

 

Now that I was happy with everything I needed to adhere it to my journalled boarder but my Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots were still drying so I ran some Helmar Acid Free Glue around the inside of the journalled paper and then put down my main paper.  

 

 
Using Helmar Glue gave me the wiggle room I needed to get this perfect without having to possibly rip my page if I didn't get it perfect first time.  And best of all I know my project will last a lifetime.

 

 

 

Today's Moments

Hello Helmar fans and welcome to my first design team post. How exciting is it to be with this wonderful company!

Today I am sharing a layout that I have created using 4 of the Helmar family of products.

Method:

To start my layout base I have used the Helmar Acid Free Glue to adhere my papers together.

Then when it can to adhering the fabric lace into my layout I have used the fabulous fast drying Helmar Fabric Glue. 

 What an amazing product this it is as it is so quick drying and bonds securely.  

Then as I moved into layering my embellishments I used a mixture of Helmar 450 Quick Drying Adhesive and Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots which provide awesome depth and dimension you can see from the below butterfly image how thick and firm the Scrap Dots are. 

As I continued to layer my embellishments I have continued using the above glues.
You can see the dimension these glues have allowed in  the below image.

When adding my title to my layout I have used the Helmar Acid Free Glue to adhere you can see from the below image how little you need to apply and it dries clear.

Mother's Day Magnets for Mum

 

Here's a simple project for you or the children to make just in time for Mother's Day!

All you need are some magnets, decorative papers, glass domes, scissors, pen, glitter pen and Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.

 

To make the Domes:

First cut a decorative piece of paper to fit the size of the dome. Edge the paper with a glitter pen (or decorate) and then evenly apply the Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive to the dome.

Place the dome on top of the decorative paper firmly and allow to dry completely.

 

 

 

Once dry, apply Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive to the under side of the paper and apply a small strong magnet. Allow to thoroughly dry before using.

 

 

 

To make the Bookmarks:

Cut out your decorative paper to your preferred size and decorate as desired being sure to keep your embellishments flat as it will be sitting in a book. Also cut out a strip of paper that will be bent over the top of the page, so make it the length of your decorative piece plus a couple of centimetres. Also cut your magnets (I used last years local real estate fridge magnet) to fit on the long strip at each end.

 

Glue the right side of the long strip to the wrong size of your decorative piece, allow to dry.

 

With your Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive, glue one piece of magnet (face down) to the wrong side of your strip of paper and then place the other magnet (face up) on top of the magnet already glued.  Apply glue to the 'face up' magnet, fold over your bookmark and press gently but firmly down and allow plenty of time for this to dry.

 

 

 

 

Once all your magnets are dry you can enjoy them yourself or wrap them up and give them to mum for a lovely little addition on Mother's Day.

 

 

Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive does dry very quickly but when working with magnets you must allow extra time to be sure they are completely dry before using.
