Happy Halloween Cards

Hello Helmar friends!  Debbie with you today sharing a card set featuring some fun chipboard embellishments! 

Halloween is normally a very busy night in our neighborhood, 300 plus trick or treaters and if it's Friday and warm it can be more!!

  I buy around 1000 pieces of candy, never what I like but always what hubby likes. 

There's usually not much left when we turn the lights out.

When I decided to make Halloween cards I was digging around in  my paper stash and found this cute Little Yellow Bicycle paper from years ago and knew it would be perfect for these chipboard embellishments!

 

 

 

 

To alter the chipboard I simply used a little Versa Mark and some embossing powder.

I started off with only one color and changed my mind and added the Orange embossing powder too.

I altered all the words with Orange.

 

I used Helmar  Acid Free Glue to adhere my card background to my glitter cardstock. 

You will need to set this aside and let it dry after adding the glue.

I added Purple Glitter card stock to the back of the  spider web shaker and the artist trading coin. 

I traced around them and them cut them out and adhered them to the back solid piece

of the shaker and the back of the Trading Coin using Helmar's Acid Free Glue.

 

You can now start gluing your shaker together. I used 450 Quick Dry Adhesive to adhere the acetate to the front of the shaker. 

It dries fast and works great with acetate!

 

 

After letting them dry I adhered them to my card front along with the words using Helmar's Acid Free Glue. 

 

I hope you give these fun shakers a try they are so addicting that they are hard not to play with!!

Drips of creativity

Hello everyone,

My creation today is exactly that "Drips of Creativity". I have had a creative slump lately, no inspiration what's so ever. 

So I gathered some supplies and a colour combination of sprays and flowers, so random to anything I normally create, and I sat and pondered.

Eventually this is what I created, it did take me 3 days to be satisfied with the project.But creativity is flowing again.

What do you think?

I have used a smallish canvas and made my drops using the Helmar Craft and Hobby PVA glue. Make sure you shake the bottle well before using. I chose this glue as it maintains its dimension and dries clear, so my drips stayed in shape.

Once the glue was dried I painted the entire canvas with a heavy white gesso.

I then used some Dylusions sprays to add the colours to the canvas.

Next step was to glue on the old paintbrushes across the top of the canvas

When this was dry I added some black paint drops, the flowers and some bling.

Deck the Halls

Good Morning Everyone, Today I am super excited to share with you my first post now that I have joined the Helmar Team :-)

On my card today I have used Helmar Acid Free, this is the first time I have actually used this one of their glues and I must say I really like it, and you do not need to apply much of it at all.

I began by using a scrap piece of paper to stamp out a rough idea of my image layout, it didn't matter if the images were all stamped over each other as like I said it was just s scrap idea set out. The stamp set I have used is La La Land Crafts Deck The Halls.

Using Full Adhesive Post It Notes (I can't find my masking paper anywhere) I stamped out all the images, with the presents I stamped them out a couple of times as I knew I would be stamping a few out and would need them masked off to make my scene.

I stamped out the presents first onto X-Press It Blending Cardstock as I wanted those at the front of my scene, I then stamped the Tree and my hippo, applying each of the masks as I went along. I left all the masks on my images and used Ranger Mini Distress Inks in Twisted Citron and Squeezed Lemonade and a Mini Ink Blending Tool and blended the ink in a circular motion around the images.

I trimmed the baubles and the lights out of the Christmas Tree mask and applied them on the image so I could Copic flick the tree over the top instead of trying to go around them.

Using my Uni-Ball white gel pens (I used the fine tip and the broad) I added details to the images and to the Christmas Tree.

I coloured all the images up using Copic Markers, once I had everything coloured up I added some Wink Of Stella Clear to a few sections of the image and around the outside of the images.

I ran the image scene through my Sizzix Big Shot using a Lawn Fawn Stitched Circle Die.

I cut a few layers of patterned paper from Kaisercraft Starry Night 6.5" Paper Pad, I then cut mat layers from American Crafts Black Card Stock.

I adhered all the layers together using Helmar Acid Free Adhesive then used the same adhesive to adhere all those layers to a Couture Creations Card Base.

I cut some leftovers of the same patterned papers, and a rectangle of white card stock to finish off the card.

Vintage Paper Pattern Love

I'm back crafty friends!!! Today I'm sharing with you not only a super easy project but also how you can send someone some happy mail adding some extra goodies or just to say "hi"! Either way, many of you might know how design pattern paper is my weakness! Since starting my scrap booking crafting journey, I absolutely love love beautiful design paper! This one had a beautiful color combinations that I had not used in a project before, so with that said I decided to set aside the papers I had chose for this particular project.   

                                                             

                               
                           

                             


         
I had a variety of styles and sizes of paper bags but I chose to use some Medium Treat bags and Mini Treat bags, the medium measure 4 3/4 x 6 3/4 and the mini ones measure 2 1/2 x 4 in. The papers I chose are from Prima Marketing Darcelle collection. I began by cutting the papers 1/8 of an inch from each edge of the front of the bags, I then used some Ingvild Bolme Chalk Ink edgers in the color Blossom Bud, I inked all of the edges then used my Prima Distress tool along some of the edges of the paper. Once I was done with that I had purchsed some Tim Holtz Frosted Film , I've had it for a while now so decided to use it to give it a different look, I love how it turned out,  I do wish that my photos showed it better but it does give it a glimmer. I only used it on the medium bag. For the smaller bag, I did the same process as the medium but I used Ranger Tim Holtz Stickles instead of the Frosted film. 

To adhere the papers onto the paper bags. I used some of the Helmar Super Tac Eva Glue. I used it on the rest of the paper embellishments as well. I did use some of the Helmar Fabric Glue on the lace and fabric flower I used on the medium bag. 
I then wanted to add an image so I chose some of the Tim Holtz Paper Dolls, instead of them being adhered onto the bag flat I used the Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots, love the way they sit propped up!

I hope that you enjoyed my latest project and just know that using beautiful design paper on a project can make such a difference and don't be intimidated to try things that you haven't yet. Scrapbooking, altering , stamping, this that we do should be fun and no one says your paper should be straight or that you shouldn't have any mistakes cuz there is no such thing !!  Till next month my crafty friends!! ~Hugs~ Jeanne

Puppy Album with Tamiko

Hey, hey guys, Tamiko here!!  I have good news I can share with you, our Helmar readers, it's a BOY!!!  (chuckles) My friend's decided to adopt a little dog ::still giggling:: The don't have any two legged children between them so I decided to gift them a small album to slip a few of those first at home moments in.  Check it out below.

Supplies needed:

Helmar's Craft & Hobby PVA Glue

Patterned paper

Scissors

Paper trimmer

Eyelet

Hole puncher

Brad

Twine

 

I initially saw this design on either YouTube or Pinterest, not sure which. I just know I thought it was darling and I'd eventually get a chance to make one myself. I went and found the perfect dog themed paper. I took 3 different pieces of paper and cut them down at 2x4, 3x6 and a 5x12. I folded each sheet in half to create lil miniature layout backgrounds, so all you have to do add a picture or ephemera with washi, staples or Helmar Glue.  With the 5x12 piece I made inside pockets to hold loose items, as you collect them, to document the occasion.

I connected the sheets at the fold with a hinge I made from yet another patterned paper. Just take a scrap even 1 inch wide and the length of the page's edge you connecting.  I cut to corners  I attach those hinges with Helmar Craft and Hobby PVA Glue.

I then continue to embellish the papers with stickers and die-cuts, both of which I reinforced with more Helmars Craft & Hobby PVA Glue!

On the larger folded page I added a hole and an eyelet. I then pulled twine through the hole to create a wrap closure. I also placed a hole, then a puffy heart and brad through the hole. I hid the clasp under a layered embellishment that was adhered also with Craft & Hobby PVA Glue.

Flight of the Fairies

Hi everyone, Theresa here again with another project to inspire you!

This is a wall hanging made with 3 cork coasters and Kaisercraft papers.

I have used Helmar Tacky Craft Glue and Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive to create these projects.

Firstly, I have coated the cork coasters with some heavy gesso and then whilst the gesso is still wet I have sprinkled this with a glitter.

While this is drying, I fussy cut some fairy images from the papers and also some verses.

I have used the 450 glue to attach the fairies and butterflies to the glittered coasters and used foam tape to attach the verses but to ensure a secure adhesive I have used the 450 on the foam tape as well.

I have used the Super Tacky to attach trimmed up card stock to the backs of the coasters to cover the ribbon trims and keep it all neat and tidy.

A very quick but cute project to create!

It is nice to be designing again this month as I was unwell last month. So here is a super simple project perfect for any Helmar adhesive fan! 

My project for October is a birthday card

Step 1. Cut cardstock to card size,

Step 2. Add the holy an Craft Glenn to the mat. I like this white angle it gives you wiggle room to add all the pieces to

construct your card.

Step 3. Assemble all your pieces with glue.

I like using the glue dots to add some dimension to my cards.

 

A Skeleton Boy & His Hot Dog Pup layout

Hey crafty friends! I'm back this month with something that I usually don't ever create but I can say that I had fun creating this layout featuring his sidekick P.L. ! Although this photo was taken a couple of Halloweens back, I've been wanting to create a layout and now I've FINALLY done it!! 

I knew when I was picking out design paper and embellishments that I didn't want it too "scary" since this my grandson is still young and because I did want it to reflect the fun time during when the photo was taken as well as of course using the classic Halloween colors. I'm not too sure what brand or company made the design paper I chose since it was given to me at one time but I thought it was perfect for this! Once I had the 12 x 12 paper chosen I distressed it using my Tim Holtz  distress tool then added some Tim Holtz Black Soot distress ink along the edges. I wanted a sturdy base so I used a 12 x 12 sheet of cardboard that I had in my stash. I adhered the distressed design paper with Helmar Acid Free Glue .  I then used a favorite tool that I use in almost all for my projects, a brayer. I use this so that my liquid glues can have even coverage on any project such as this. 

 

Then, I cut a piece of black corrugated paper, just wanted to have a bit of the design paper underneath be visible. Once that was done, I picked out the base mat for my photo, I used the same fun paper , some orange glitter paper and some orange Bazzill card stock. Used the same Helmar Acid Free Glue for this as well since it is safe for photos. I also used it for the flowers and embellishments.

Shiny Embellishment Hack

Hello everyone I hope you are keeping well, today I'm going to be playing with Helmar PVA Professional Woodworking Glue. Over the years I have used wood glues for various things in my crafting, particularly heavy duty paper mache projects but recently I saw a couple of ladies using wood glue to make shiny bits on their projects so I thought I would give it a go.

What you will need:

Helmar PVA Professional Woodworking Glue, papers of your choice and scissors.

Firstly, decide which part of the paper you would like to gloss/shine up and then apply Helmar PVA Professional Woodworking Glue to that area. 

I was quite liberal with mine as I knew I was going to be cutting the heart shapes out once they were dry. If you are not going to cut the shape out be sure to apply the glue 'within' the chosen image as it will spread slightly when drying.  Once dry you can add a second coat if you feel it needs it.

You can adjust the nozzle for a finer release of the glue for smaller images which works well if you want to just embellish the page and not cut anything out. For very fine images I would suggest transferring a little of the Helmar PVA Professional Woodworking Glue into a fine tipped bottle.

Once you are happy with the look, you can cut your images out and use them in your projects. They will still take any inking you may want to do, like the bottom heart in the picture below.

Quick Wallet Repair

Hi Helmar fans, Raelene with you Today with a really quick post of how I did a quick repair of my son's wallet with Helmar Fabric Glue as my son loves his Undertale wallet and wants to be able to keep using it and wants to be able to keep using it and repairing things to reduce what goes to the tip is really important for the planet.

I emptied the wallet and simply ran a line of Helmar Fabric Glue along the fabric that has to adhere under the zip section.

I then held the 2 sections of fabric together until it felt touch dry.

I then stood the wallet up with the coin part open and let it dry longer to ensure a strong hold.

My son is so happy that he can keep using his wallet.
