Today, I am so excited to be part of Helmar Creative Team!

I have made a flower with foamiran using Helmar 450 Glue. For this purpose I have made a video for you all to have a look on making flowers with Foamiran.

 

In the video you will see I have used a 5 petal flower die for my fuchsia flower. You can use any 5 petal flower die for this flower.

For my colouring : You can certainly use the coloured foamiran. I have used white. The colours which I have used are oil pastel from Mont marte but if you don't have then you can also use like your gelatoes , distress inks but just heads up ,with the water based colours they tend to fade quickly overtime which I have realized with my flowers.

For Glue, I always used Hot glue for my foamiran but I always had a big question if the Helmar would work with it or not. So, I can confirm that Yes it does work and in today's Video I have used Helmar to stick my flowers together.

Bee Bath

Hello Helmar Fans,  Raelene with you Today with a cute project for the Garden that I hope works the way it is meant to.

With this move I am now able to garden (the old house had stairs so any gardening I tried, died as I couldn't tend to it as needed), so I decided to try Container Gardening, this was planned for a late March to early April start but with isolation I brought it forward a couple of weeks so we would be harvesting sooner as we have food intolerances and in early March it was very hard to get the foods we can eat.

I have been reading up on all sorts of stuff about container gardening and veggie gardening when I came across a Bee Bath and it seemed like a really cute idea and a great way to use this broken chair I rescued from being sent to the tip as I felt it would work in my garden to rest my Bee Bath on :)

 

 

 

 

I grabbed a shallow pot and a pot saucer, blue glass pebbles (according to the internet putting these in the bath prevents bees from drowning and attracts them), Helmar Silicone Adhesive Sealant and selected some flowers that according to the internet Bees love and set to work.

At first I tried putting the Helmar Silicone Adhesive Sealant on the edge of the pot and holding the saucer in place until it dried but that didn't work, it kept wobbling. 

So after lots of wibbly wobbly mess was created, I flipped things and put some more  Helmar Silicone Adhesive Sealant on the bottom of the saucer and place the pot on top and left it to dry.

Once it was dry I added some good quality potting mix to the pot and planted my flowers with the tallest at what would be the back.  I have over-planted the violas but as they grow I will transplant the excess, I wanted plenty of flowers from the start in the hope of attracting bees to my Veggies.

 

I have 2 ways of using my Bee Bath.  I can just add a shallow bowl into the saucer and place the pebbles and water in this to make cleaning easier as you need to provide fresh water daily and clean the bath once a week for the bee's health, I popped some pebbles in the gap so the bowl is more stable.  Or you can just put the pebbles directly into the saucer and just hose it when you water the pot.

I think this has turned out super cute and I am going do add smaller pots around the edge at the front to fill out the chair more and attract more good insects to my veggies.

 

Nursery Rhyme Tag by Tamiko

Hello folks, Tamiko here! First and foremost, I hope you are all safe and sound within your homes with your love ones. If your're not, I pray for your health and safety during this pandemic. If you are a part of the long list of essential workers, bless you! Please know you're loved and prayed for daily, we couldn't get through these times without your dedication and sacrifice. Now with that being said this week's project is a tag,  I need to pop it in the mail to my swap partner. I was happy about the theme: Nursery Rhymes! Here is what I made!

Supplies needed:

Helmar Craft and PVC Glue 

Watercolor paper 140lb

Watercolor paint

Watercolor pencils

Pencil

Paint brush

Cup of water

Scissors

Glitter

Black pen

I began sketching my main pieces on watercolor paper. Then I colored the drawn items with watercolor paints and pencils. I fussy cut the shapes and added some cardboard backing to make the item appear dimensional. As I type this, I almost could kick myself because I could have used Helmar ScrapDots for the same effect.  I will next time!!

As I pieced the items together I used Helmars Craft & Hobby PVA Glue. I chose that particular one because non yellowing effect directly on aging papers. 

 

I added some black pen line work and felt like something was indeed missing! A project just wouldn't be me at all if it had no sparkly goodness. With just a few drops of Helmars Craft & Hobby PVA Glue again I was able to add some glittering goodness also. (Cheesey grin)

Once all the components were adhered and dry, I decided to clean it up by adding a background paper to cover all my paper piecing using the Helmar Craft & Hobby PVA Glue again. I hope my swap partner loves this! It was so much fun to do! Sit back and challenge yourself to create things handmade to send to friends and family you haven't  been able to touch in weeks. Make sure it stays well put together by ONLY using Helmar adhesives!

Tea Time Pocket Letter

Hi everyone! Amylove here to bring you my first project for Helmar. I am so thankful and excited to be back on Helmar's creative team! I LOVE to make and send out pocket letters. They are so fun to create and what a sweet surprise to receive in the mail.

Digging through all of my supplies deciding on a theme is one of my favorite parts of crafting! I chose a Tea Time theme for this one.

I start by cutting the background pieces. Each card is 2.5"X3.5" just like ATC cards. 

Then the fussy cutting begins!! 

I always do the middle card first. I like to turn it into a shaker pocket! I am using the Helmar Acid Free Glue to glue down all of the bits that I want to be flat.

I fill the pocket with sequins and microbeads and then sew it shut using my machine. 

 I am using Helmar Scrap Dots to adhere everything that I want to give a bit of dimension to!

Just look at that dimension!

 Another adorable pocket letter ready to be mailed out to brighten someone's day.

Crafty caterpillar creations

Hi everyone,

Well, this situation certainly puts our priorities in perspective

for me it is enjoying the small things with my family.

I have 2 beautiful grand daughters who always enjoy seeing what Nanny has created and what is on my desk waiting to be created...

so these holidays it was time to share my creative craft passion with my grand children.

Today we created Crafty Caterpillars!

We used the Helmar Craft & Hobby PVA Glue

toilet rolls

acrylic paints

wobbly eyes

pipe cleaners

 

First step was for the girls to paint their toilet rolls, my grand daughters are 5 and 6 years old, so let's say a lot of paint got everywhere.

We then waited for these to dry,

cut the painted rolls into 3 peices.

I then supervised as the girls glued the rolls together to form the caterpillar.

Once the bodies were dry we then glued on wobbly eyes

and a smiley mouth

and lastly 2 feelers on their heads.

And that is how you create crafty caterpillars!

Hi craft friends! My name is Jeanne Rodriguez, I am from Los Alamos , New Mexico.
I have been with my husband for 23years. I have 4 kids , 2 boys Zennon & 
Gabriel whom are by my husband and adaughter Destinee who is my oldest and 
my oldest son Sky from a previous relationship. My daughter had blessed me with 2 grandkids
and another grand daughter who will be born April 2020! I have not been able to work since 2012
due to health problems and depression which is why I started crafting!

2.5 years and I love it! I love creating a little bit of everything, I love making mini albums, cards

Shabby Chic Boxed Album featuring 3 Carta Bella Collections

Hello crafty peeps! I'm back this month with this wooden box that I received as part of a monthly parcel kit from designer for Prima Marketing Frank Garcia. I've been receiving these parcels since they first began like 3 years ago or so. I've missed maybe a few but have always tried getting every single month. I had two different parcels that I had stashed away and then received another one last month that they all were collections from Carta Bella. The one I received last month had this wooden box to alter, we usually get chipboard mini albums with our parcels. The collection that came with this one was a new collection called Farmhouse Market, the previous collections I had were Home Again & Flower Market. Anyhow I love trying to combine collections from the same companies usually and have done so before using 2 collections, so this was my first time trying 3 and I really love what I came up with! I hope u like what I came up with!! 

*Note: I didn't post an entire tutorial only because of the copyright since these are designs from Frank Garcia but I did share some photos.

 

I began by painting the edges of the box using Apple Barrel Vanilla Ice Cream Matte Acrylic Paint. This box measures 8 1/4 X 8 so once the paint was dry I began cutting my papers, I cut and layered 5 different papers on the cover. Before adhering I used some Nuvo Embellishment Mouse in Toasted Almond Color to ink around the edges of the papers that I layered. I used Helmar Acid Free Glue. I adhered all of the papers on this project using this adhesive, you don't need to add a whole lot to your papers this way they won't wrinkle and warp. Plus it dries much faster! 

 

I then cut some strips and adhered them together with clear tape on the inside part this way I could adhere just one strip all around on top and bottom part of the box. Once all of the outside of the box was done, I used some DecoArt Americana Pink Chiffon Acrylic Paint mixed with texture powder to paint the small milk can and the hardware for the box. Just to make it a  little more shabby! I also painted a wired circle that I had come in a packaged home decor frame that is supposed to be an embroidery hoop, I use the frame as a prop and so I decided to use this to add to the lid,I painted that using the same acrylic paint I used for the box. I also painted the Memory Hardware frame that came with this kit, I used just white gesso and texture powder as well on this , then just set them aside to dry and started on the inside. 
                                                                                       

I cut 5 pieces of ivory card stock to fit into the inside of the box and made an accordion album. I then began cutting and adhering the papers from the 3 different Carta Bella Collections (photos & links where you can purchase below)

I absolutely LOVE these colorful collections and I thought they went so well together!! I will be using the left over papers, stickers, etc to create mini albums to go with my box which I will be displaying in my craft room of course!! 

Anyhow now onto the inside, I did make a short video showing the project in it's entirety but here are a few pics of the inside while being created. 

I used Ivory Card Stock for the photo mats, on those photo mats I used the stamp set from Maggie Holmes called Flourish, which I believe is 1 of 3 sets for this collection. I used the adorable camera stamps and Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I used stickers from the collections to embellish my pages, I used some thin lace on the inner cover where I made a pocket to hold some of the cut outs from the collections. I also added some Prima Marketing Flowers on there as well. I added a pocket on the last page as well. I used a decorative punch from Anna Griffin on both pockets. I also used Helmar Fabric Glue for the seam binding and trims. I used E6000 for the heavier items on the cover as well as my hot glue gun for my flowers on the cover!

Quick Release Fix for your Metal Dies

Hello there everyone, today I have a very quick post but something I hope many of you will find useful.

What you will need:

Helmar H4000 Silicone Spray

As I was going through some of my metals dies I chose a couple that I wanted to use.

I wanted to use a particular die with a heavy weight card stock but was having problems with the paper releasing, even rubbing some baking paper on the die as a release wasn't really working. I found the card stock hard to remove and pieces of the finished die were getting ripped off.

Even using the release brush and a pokey tool was taking far too long for each die.

I then decided I would give my Helmar H4000 Silicone Spray a try. I placed my die (cutting side up) on a sheet of paper in a well ventilated area and after shaking the can, I sprayed the die at about a distance of 20cm away.

I allowed this to dry (didn't take long), the paper around the die took longer to dry than the actual die and there was no oily residue on the metal at all.

I then ran my die through the machine and it released the heavy weight card stock much better than before. The die was very clean and came away easily.

Even removing the tiny little pieces in the metal die was so much easier to do.

So if you happen to have an intricate metal die that you would like to use more or with heavier weight paper/card stock why not give Helmar H4000 Silicone Spray a try, you can even just spray your metal dies in general for upkeep with this great product.

Helmar How to!

Hi All,

Today I am sharing with you a How to Video, using a product from Helmar and a stamp set from MFT Stamps.

The Product I am using today is Scrap Dots, this stuff is awesome for any of you that like to add dimension to your projects, my way of explaining it is that it's like liquid foam dots.

For my project today I have used a stamp set from MFT Stamps called Grande Sized Love, something I have received in a recent order.

I am not going to share the card today as I have not made one yet, this is more of a how to use a product post.

I stamped the image out first onto some X-Press It Blending Cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black in my Mini Misti Stamping Tool.

I then pulled out my Kaisercraft Bow and Arrow paper pad and stamped out the image again onto three different patterned papers.

I fussy cut out certain bits of the image that I needed for my paper piercing and used my Copic Markers to add some extra shadow detail and make them a little more life like.

I Copic Coloured my initial image (X-Press It) one, I will have all the Copic Markers listed below that I have used on my project.

I then began piecing everything together using Helmar Scrap Dots.

  

It's awesome when you hold it sideways and you can see all the layers built up :-)

Vintage Stuffed Envelope

Hello Crafty Friends! Can you believe April is already here. Today I have a fun vintage project to share with you. I love the vintage look and these stuffed envelopes are fun to create for swaps or just send some happy mail to a friend.

Supply List:

Plain envelope any size you prefer. For this project I used a 9x12 size envelope. 

Any scrapbook papers/stickers in your stash. I'm using Authentique "Fabulous " collection

Blank card, tag, white cardstock for stamping

Assorted Helmar glues ( I will specify which glues I used in my instructions below)

Trim or ribbon

Pink Paislee "Switchboard "stamps and die

Black inkpad, Distress Ink in Rusty Hindge and Victorian Velvet and ink dabber, pencil scissors

Diecutting machine 

Epoxy Dots, Prima flowers, clear pocket tag, pink pearl gem

Liquid pearls White opal and Novo Dots- clear

Tuck your envelope flap inside and choose 2 coordinating papers to cover the front and back of your envelope. Mine were cut down to 9x12 to cover the size of my envelope. I used Helmar Craft and Hobby PVA glue to attach my papers to my envelope surfaces.

Next take your scissors, and cut a slit down the middle of the front part of your envelope about 4 & 1/2 inches down. Cover both flaps with coordinating papers. Then take a pencil and roll each flap around your pencil to curl the edges.

Next, it's time to decorate your envelope. I fuzzy cut out a coffee pot, typewriter and popped them over the same images on my background paper. I love using Helmar's Liquid Scrap Dots to create a 3D look.  I also used one of the sweet life cherry stickers and popped up the cherries in the middle using Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots. I added 2 small round epoxy clear stickers on top of each cherry on my sticker. I took my liquid pearls and added dots to her dress. 

 

I made another pocket with another coordinating paper and cut it down to 9x 6 & 1/4 inches. Then attached to the back of my envelope using Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive. This glue creates a strong bond and dries quickly. I added some trim to the top edge of my pocket using Helmar Fabric glue. 

I stamped a few images and words onto white cardstock  from my stamp set with black ink and cut them out. I inked the edges with my distress inks. 

I popped up the love heart image using Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots and added to the back pocket of my envelope. Then I took a clear pocket I had in my stash, cut out a coordinating paper and glued to the back of my clear tag pocket with Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive. I added the "Go girl"sticker to a another small tag, added a pearl gem and tucked this tag inside the clear pocket. Attach to the back pocket of your envelope with Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive. 

Now you can stuff your envelope with anything you like. I like to fill my pockets with a card, tag, candy, craft stickers, clips, clothespin, Doily, decorative rosettes or picks. Let your imagination run wild. I used a coordinating paper to create my own doily and card to tuck in the back pocket.

Last of all I glued some Prima flowers to the right bottom corner of my pocket. And added a larger Prima flower to the center bottom of my slit opening.
