A Pretty Pin Cushion

Hello again, today I am going to be making a pin cushion. To me, pin cushions are the lovely quick projects you can make in between larger projects of when you can't think of something else to make, and I love them!

What you will need:

Helmar Premium Craft Glue, scissors, needle and thread or sewing machine, fabric, lace, embellishments and a vessel to house your pin cushion.

To start with I cut a piece of my desired fabric into a circle about 1.5 - 2" larger than the size of the vessel, I used an image from an old pillowcase. I am using a beautiful Maling lustre ware dish for my pin cushion, it is not in perfect condition so it can now have a new life :)  I then stitched two gathering stitches around the outside of the fabric.

After gently pulling the gathering stitch up I filled the fabric with fibre fill and tied the threads together.

Using my Helmar Premium Craft Glue I attached a pretty vintage lace to the sides of the fabric in a place where I feel it will peek out around the pin cushion. Be sure to face the lace in the right direction ;) 

I then used more Helmar Premium Craft Glue to attach the pin cushion to the dish.

A couple of pretty flowers were made by gluing pearls to petals and then once again using my Helmar Premium Craft Glue, I attached them to the cushion.

Now I have a pretty, little and whimsical pincushion to keep on my desk.

ATC Book Box & Mini Tags

Hello Crafty Friends!

I hope you all are staying healthy and safe during this pandemic. Hope you were able to squeeze in some crafty time, during the lockdown.

I'm back today on the Helmar Worldwide blog, with a fun ATC Book Box and mini tags project. I used Prima Marketing's cute "Fruit Paradise " collection for my project. I thought this would make a great gift idea or maybe a decor piece for your kitchen.

Supply List:

Prima Marketing "Fruit Paradise "A-4 paper pad, Prima flowers, chipboards, journaling cards and stickers

Graphic 45 ATC Book Box  (tags are included)

Helmar Glues: Premium craft glue, 450 Quick Dry Adhesive, Tacky Craft Glue, Scrap Dots 

Scissors, Ribbon or Trims you have on hand, Tulle

Spectrum Noir "Inca Gold" Metallic Wax

Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Rusty Hinge"

Ink Sponge Dabber, sequins, gems, pearls

Stickles glitter: Yellow, Diamond and Lime

First off I choose a base paper from the A-4 paper pad, to decorate the front, sides, top of box, inside flap and back of my box. Measure and cut according to size. You may ink your edges with distress ink, if you like.

I used Helmar Craft Glue to glue my papers unto the surfaces of my box. This glue dries clear, and has a flexible bond, which is helpful when gluing the inside piece to the inside flap of your box. Crease the flap a few times till it moves freely. 

For the inside of my box, I chose one of the journaling cards and cut to fit in the bottom section of my box.

Next I chose some of the fruity images from my paper pad and fuzzy cut them out, along with the butterfly and wings. These will be used to decorate the top of the box. I chose a variety of flowers, chipboards and stickers. You can play around with the placement of your design. Once you are satisfied with the arrangement of your pieces, you can glue them to your box. I used Helmar Premium Craft Glue to attach my butterfly wings. I bent them slightly upward to give them movement. I used Helmar Scrap Dots to add my fuzzy cut fruit pieces. These Helmar Scrap Dots are one of my favorite go to glues, when I want to add some 3D dimension to my project. And they are acid free too! 

I tucked in a few pearls, gems and roses in between my flowers and glued them down using Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive. It has a strong firm holding bond, that will keep your projects lasting for many years to come. 

Lastly I took some of the Spectrum Noir Metallic Wax and rubbed it along the edges of my box with my finger. This adds a nice shimmer to your project. 

For Tags:

Cover the base of your tags with any of the  papers you prefer. I left the top of my mini tags bare. These tags measure 2 & 1/2 x 2 & 3/4. Be sure your comments are facing up before gluing. For the next layer I cut out some of the smaller fruit cards and used Helmar Scrap Dots to adhere them to my tags. I fuzzy cut out some cherries and pear. And again I used Helmar Scrap Dots to add dimension. For my lemon tag, I added one of matching puffy stickers on top of the lemon card image.

For the final touches, I added some sequins and glitter to my fruity tags. Then added them to the metal ring and tied some tulle and trim onto my ring. 

These tags fit nicely into your box,  as an added surprise!

Falling in Love with Helmar

Today I am on Helmar blog with their woodworking glue. I am falling in love with these Helmar glues.

For the past couple of weeks I have been creating this mixed media project for Helmar and I liked the way I can use this glue to stick my heavy object just like you can do with Helmar450. The glue dies clear which is plus point for any mixed media project.

Here is what I have created.

Materials to make this photo frame:

• Clay
• moulds of items you want make to stick on the frame
• photo frame
• helmar wood working glue
• Sprays ( I have used a varity of them like shimmers, lindy’s and Prims
• Finnabar Alchemy’s
• Gold wax
• Black gesso
• Brushes

Steps:

1. First I used some clay and mould to get my shapes out. I left them to dry overnight.

2. Next day I arranged all pieces and stuck them with the help of Helmar Woodworking Glue.

3. Once they were all stuck , I had some stone stand which I bought from a dollar shop. I stuck them all over my frame too with the help of the Helmar woodworking glue.

4. Once I have finished I leaf the frame to dry overnight.

5. Next day I went ahead and coloured everything with Black gesso.

6. After the gesso was dried , I coloured and also used sprays.

Then to finish off my project I have used Inka gold to brush on top for final touches.

And this was the final result.

Haikus and Colors Mini Journal with Tamiko

Now let's make something! Check out the mini art journal  that I made to do miniature art and create haikus .

 

Supplies:

Helmar's Tacky Craft Glue

Helmar's Liquid Scrap Dots

Helmar's Craft and Hobby PVA

Watercolor paper 140lb 3 inches by 8 inches

Corrugated cardboard 2.75inches x2.75 inches

Several misc pieces of paper cut to 2.75inches x 2.75 inches (I used 25)

Watercolor paint and markers

Brush

Water

Scissors

Embellishments 

A Brad

String or twine for closure 

Bone folder

Awl or Crop- a -dial

 

I did some scoring to the piece of watercolor paper. 

On the flap I folded the 0.25 inch inward and adhere it to the flap with Helmars Tacky Glue. I also clamped it to secure it in place until it was secure. I also stacked the 25 miscellaneous  sheets together, to create the glued edge. I clamped the papers to secure the stack. I then took a small glob of the Helmars Craft and Hobby PVA Glue and rubbed it across one edge of the small stack of papers. I let it dry and repeated it several times.

I painted the watercolor paper with multiple watercolor paints. While that dried. I attached the stack of papers to the corrugated board for support with Helmars Craft and Hobby PVA Glue. 

 

I placed the paper pad now full with glue on the inside 3in by 3in square section. I clamp it to hold in place while it dries. I added a pocket to inside cover flap with Helmars Tacky Glue. It will hold lil bits and bobs to add to the journal.

 

Now all we have to do is add a few other embellishments to the outside..

Shabby Chic Note Cards by Amylove

Hi Y'all! I am always in need of little note cards to send out in packages. I really enjoyed putting this design together! For these sweet little shabby chic notecards, you will need:

3- 3X3 notecard bases cut from card stock

Helmar Tacky Craft Glue

Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots

pretty patterned paper

a heart template 

corrugated cardboard

embroidery floss

buttons

paint

a snippet of lace

cheese cloth

a cup of your favorite tea... I am having Lemon Ginger

I began by cutting the patterned paper to fit the card fronts and I cut hearts from the corrugated cardboard

I love to get my fingers dirty! I used my fingers to lightly brush some paint on the hearts. 

I threaded some embroidery floss through the buttons and tied a knot. I don't like an empty button. 

I used Helmar Tacky Craft Glue to adhere the paper to the card fronts...

and just a dab more of glue to adhere the cheese cloth.

I wrapped embroidery floss around the hearts and held it in place with addition tacky glue.

I finished off the heart with a snippet of lace and the button. 

I put Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots on the back of the heart to adhere it to the card and give it some dimension.

Decoupaged Napkins

Hello crafty peeps!! I hope that you are all keeping yourselves safe and are staying home since we are still dealing with this pandemic going on in our world right now! Of course I'm sure many of you are keeping busy creating during this time and it's also hard to get together with crafty friends for crops and other craft events. But swapping is still a good way to share your creations , I mean everyone loves to receive Happy Mail, I know I do. I love receiving beautiful creations, even if it's a cute handmade card. Anyhow I have made these altered glassine bags in the past and I was already out of those I had made so I decided to make some as this month's project! 

 

These are super easy to create and are quick to make also! Here is my way of creating them. 

             

                       


I gathered up my supplies, I had small and larger glassine bags, I decided that I would try to decoupage on some kraft color vintage print bags. I had purchased most of the napkins over at Tuesday Morning not too long ago before the closures. I had the ones with the birds in my stash for a little while. Supply list down below and of course your bottle of Helmar Acid Free Glue.

Supplies

• Variety of Napkins (floral, butterflies, whatever design you have)
• Glassine bags, paper bags, you can make your own Glassine bags out of parchment paper 
• Small Paint brush
• Water
• Small disposable container for glue
• Scotch tape

I began by adding some of the Helmar Acid Free Glue in a small container, you might notice that I used the lid of a water bottle. I had it in front of me and was too lazy to go grab one from the kitchen. You will need something bigger of course that way you won't be having to add glue every little while. Also a small container for your water. 

 

I opened up my napkin, to separate the layer of napkin to get to the printed one I cut a small piece of scotch tape and just gently touch it to the corner of the napkin and it will separate the layers of napkins. 

I then dipped my small paint brush in the water , make sure its not soaked too much. Then go along the area that I am gonna want to use on my bags , just like shown on the last two pics ^^^^. Once I have done this with the napkins I'm gonna use, I get my paint brush and add some of the Helmar Acid Glue to the area of the bags I will be putting my napkin on. I  then add a little water with my brush so its not so thick and spreads out more easily. I then put my napkin piece(s) on there then repeat the glue and a tiny bit of water, not too much or your napkin will tear. Its really up to you if you want to use water, on this part. I do just to make the glue spread better. 

   

Once your done adding your napkins to the bags you completed, you can set them aside to dry, they actually dry pretty fast. You can leave them like this  or you can add more items to your bags such as laces, design paper, sentiments, etc. You can also fold the top of the bags down and punch a small hole and put some twine , ribbon, seam binding, lace, to make a closure. There are plenty of ways to finish decorating these or you can leave them simple just like these!!

          

I hope that you like these and try to create them for yourself! They are fun to make and are wonderful to use to package up laces, embellishments, paper, among other crafty items. Also as a reminder , if you don't have any glassine bags, there is some tutorials on YouTube to make your own bags from wax paper, kraft wax paper, deli paper sheets, & Reynolds Brand wax paper sandwich bags. You can make your own vintage kraft bags using plain paper bags , example below, then use whatever stamps you have in your stash and create your own vintage inks. Just a few ideas incase you don't have glassine or paper bags, You know us crafters, we get pretty creative with items found in our cupboards.

Vintage Lady Paperclips

Hello everyone, today I'm going to be making some Vintage Lady Paperclips, I recently (before everything closed) found some very large paperclips at the op-shop and wanted to use them in an upcoming project.

What I'm using:

Helmar Fabric Glue and Helmar Craft & Hobby PVA Glue, scissors, images of vintage ladies, variety of lace, fabric and trim scraps and jumbo paperclips. I also used a little ink and a glitter pen.

 

The first step is to roughly cut out your image and layer it onto a thick piece of cardboard/chipboard. Using the Helmar Craft & Hobby PVA Glue I glued the layers together and then allowed them to dry thoroughly before cutting out. Once they were dry I fussy cut the image out and lightly inked the edges.

I glued a little lace and cheesecloth scrap behind the image.

Finding soft fabric and lace scraps in a similar colour to the dress on the image I layered different pieces up on the front and back side of the dress using Helmar Fabric Glue until I was happy with the look.

For added interest I cut some pieces from a second copy of the paper image, I glued this onto a fabric scrap for strength once again using my Helmar Fabric Glue, fussy cut it out and added it around the hipline of the lady. You can also use this method to hide any gathering of fabric or 'mess'. I also used some vintage flower trim for even more dimension around her hip, up the front of her dress and on her hat. A light touch of gold glitter pen was added to her necklace and the folds of her scarf.

Now to attach the large paperclip, I cut a piece of cardstock 1.5 x 4.25" (3.8 x 10.7cm), rounded the corners and distressed the edges.

The cardstock was placed within the large paperclip, I kept the long loop to the front along with the lighter side of the cardstock. Helmar Fabric Glue was then used liberally to attach the paperclip to the cardstock and also to the back of the lady then allow to dry.

And there we have it, a lovely Vintage Lady Paperclip ready to add to your journals, projects or as an added touch on a gift, you could even use it as a bookmark if you wanted to. These are so easy and fun to make you can even make a few of them at once.

Flower-full

Good Morning Everyone,

Today I am posting for Helmar Worldwide, I would like to share with you a card I made for a friend for his wife - a special request card.

Here is my special project

I used two different Helmar products on my project, Acid Free and Scrap Dots - of course my two favourite products haha.

You must excuse the state of my poor little Scrap Dots, I've been squeezing every last little bit of adhesive out of him - you must make use of the last little bit right :-)

Let's talk our way through the project.. I started with a Couture Creations Card Base (I purchased these in bulk quite a while ago, they come with matching envelopes and I love a square card).

There is two sections to my card as I played with colours, before finally coming to the final layout.

I cut a piece of patterned paper down from a very old Mother's Day Paper Pad that I had purchased from Kmart (I'm talking ancient hoarding here). I used this to base my layout around as I knew I wanted to go a little simplicity but still pretty.

I had my Dad print out some photos that my friend had sent me of him, Bub and beautiful Wife, I got him to print them small enough that they would be centred on my card but not huge. This one that I ended up using on my project I ran through my Sizzix Big Shot using a Polaroid Shaker Frame from MFT Stamps, I only needed the centre piece as I waned the polaroid frame in white. I then ran the die through again a few times using some leftovers of white cardstock, the top piece ended up being some leftover X-Press It Blending Cardstock so it has that nice smooth finish. (I posted all the extra photos off to my friend)

Using Helmar Acid Free I began adhering all the frames together, for the bottom I adhered two of the centre pieces and adhered them on opposite corners (on the back of the polaroids) so I was able to inlay my photo piece that I had already cut and it wouldn't move or fall through.

I really should have done this before adhering all the layers but it turned out all ok in the end so that's all that matters I guess.. I decided to emboss a "Mother's Day" sentiment onto the bottom of the polaroid. I grabbed my SSS Mother's Day Sentiment set and actually carefully cut the Happy part from the sentiment - yep I cut my stamp in half! I used my EK Success Scissors so it was a super straight cut and if I ever want to use it all together again they will go back together on a stamping block perfectly. It's ok to do this :-)

I prepared the card using an embossing buddy (powder tool) and used Ink On 3 Embossing Ink, Ranger Super Fine White Embossing Powder and my heat gun to emboss the sentiment.

Using Lawn Fawn Scripty Happy I ran it through my Big Shot using some scrap cardstock (I went in later on in the video and coated the sentiment with Embossing Ink and gold embossing powder and heated it up to melt the embossing powder and turn the word gold).

I cut the number 1 from Paper Rose Jumbo Numbers and the ST is from Concord & 9th Tall Type Numbers, I did the same process as mentioned above to turn everything gold.

The flowers are from MFT Stamps Stitched Flowers and the leaves are from MFT Stamps Layered Leaves. I cut the flowers from some Kaisercraft Bow & Arrow patterned paper and the leaves are from some leftover white cardstock. (I originally cut all the flowers using some leftover pink cardstock but changed up the colours).

I layered the flowers using Helmar Acid Free, the top layer I used Scrap Dots to make them pop off the flowers a little big extra then I finished the flowers off using Tonic Studios Nuvo Crystal Drops in Mustard Gold - such a stunning colour.

I grabbed my card base and adhered a doily, the patterned paper over top and began adhering all my layers down using Acid Free.

 

Once my card layers were all added I used some more of the Nuvo Drops to add a few enamel dots around the card.

Good morning Helmar followers. I hope tis blog post finds you and all your family well in these challenging times.

Today I am sharing a layout with you that I have created used my go to glue Helmar 450

This is my Layout I love the softness of the colours and papers I have used 

My first step in creation of this layout was after selecting my papers and cutting them was to layer and adhere them with Helmar 450,

Once I had completed this process I then added my photo and started layering my embellishments,

I have found that Liquid Scrap Dots is an awesome product for giving some lift and dimension to embellishments

Under the vellum embellishments I have use Helmar 450 with just the tiniest amount to adhere them and it doesn't show though as can be seen on the bird embellishment in the above image. 

I then finished the layout off with coffee coloured ink.

Glass stone vase

Hello everyone

In our crazy world it is time to enjoy the little things.

Today's creation is about bringing the outside inside.

I have used an old glass cookie jar to create this colourful vase for my plant.To create this project or something similar gather these supplies:

a glass cookie jar (remove the lid and wire clamp)

glass stones (any colour)

alcohol inks (in colours of your choice)

alcohol blending solution (in a spray bottle)

masking tape

Helmar Super Tac Glue

Helmar Remove Cleaner

Okay let's start...

First, we need to use the cleaner to remove any grease or grime off the glass.

Spray this cleaner onto a paper towel and wipe the cookie jar over.

Allow to dry, it does not take long.

Next step is to start gluing the glass stones onto the cookie jar, I started on the flat sides first and worked from the middle out to the edges. 

Allow to dry for a good four hours before moving on to the next side.

When you get to the curved sides of the jar I have used masking tape to support the glass stones so they don't slide off.

Once the stones are all secured and dry it is time to colour your vase.

I have used 3 Alcohol ink colours and some silver and pearl.

Start by spraying the glass stones with the blending solution ( be careful with the fumes )

then drop on your Alcohol ink colours and watch the magic happen!

Allow the layer to dry and keep adding highlights until you get the achieved look you like. 

Once happy with your colours allow it to dry overnight

then add some soil and a plant of your choice.
