Hello again Helmar friends!!! Today I am sharing with you a project that I created this week. I came across this paper collection in my hoard vault, I honestly had forgot I had this paper collection. I really need to start going thru my hoard vault once in a while to create with these papers that are just sitting there only because I don't want to cut into them. How unrealistic is that right!? I'm sure a lot of you know exactly what I am talking about! Anyhow I'll get around to using them ......eventually.....at a very slow pace...."giggle giggle"! Anyhow so I love all projects that Teresa Collins creates and she's a BIG fan of memory keeping and folios just like I am, so I knew this is what would be perfect for this paper collection to get used for.
I am also a fan of Helen Griffin, a great paper crafter & YouTuber as well as blogger. Well I came across a project she created which is this " Tri-Fold Shutter Mini Album" , I changed the title of mine since to me it looks more like a folio in a sense. Well I must say that while watching her video on how to create this, I was going along with her just great until.....I wasn't anymore. So I guess my project took a different turn somewhere so I had to just go along and finish it out my project a little differently. That is okay because I am posting her YouTube channel here as well as her blog site
Here is the photo process of the album , I hope you are able to follow my steps, if not you can check out her video as well. You will get what I "originally" was trying to make and it's pretty much the same with just a small difference in a step as well as a little something extra I added to mine as well. ENJOY!!!!
I started with some white American Crafts Core'dinations White Card Stock , using my paper trimmer I cut it to 12 X 9, I then used my score board to score it at 3in, 6, & 9in. on the 12in side.
Then on the 9 inch side you are gonna cut the lines to make the "shutters" or "accordion" , the areas that fold in other words. I find it easier to do this with a ruler & score board. You are going to make a light mark on the 3 in line u with a pencil on where you will be cutting you papers to make these folds, Place your paper onto the score board, then you will measure from the top 1.5 in on 6 in and 3 in lines, you can either mark with a pencil first or you can just cut directly on the 1.2 in mark down to the 10 in mark. As you can find on the last photo above right hand side. If this is too hard to follow, I've posted the video tutorial HERE that I followed.
Once you have cut the two lines, you will use your bone folder to make sure your lines are folded, scored to a crisp. Above on the right hand side photos , this is what your base should look like on both sides. Okay so the next step I cut a couple of cardstock @ 1.5 X 3 , which is to cover the back from showing up on your front view. You don't see this on the project that I created because of the next step is where I messed up on.
So the next step you will be making the covers of the folio. You start by cutting
some card stock @ 4.25 X 10.25, score all around each side @ 1/2 in. Fold them and use your bone folder to make your folds crisp. You are going to next cut each corner diagonally so that you are able to adhere them and they will have a neat lines.
Once you have that done, you will adhere the cover pages to your shutter piece. Fold it up to make it easier but you can adhere it how you find it simpler. Once you have adhered those covers you will see on the pic below on the left hand side, I believe this is where I mess up on mine, I just glued it and didn't pay attention to which side it was supposed to be, as you see though, I ended up just created a double side instead of just one side. Lastly , the square "photo mats" on here are 4.25 X 4.25. Make sure you add the ribbon closure before adding your photo mat to that section. Then of course embellish the front however you like!
As I mentioned above, if you check out the video tutorial that I went by, hers is only the one side. So I figured since I messed it up a bit, I decided to just add more paper to those squares on that side as well. So the design paper that I used I was searching thru my hoard vault and was excited to use this paper not only because it is beautiful but also because I honestly didn't think I had any Teresa Collins Studio products, I want to say it was sent to me in a RAK. Anyhow I also thought the colors were different than what I normally create with and I truly love it! Anyhow I do hope that you like what I came up with for this project. Even though I ended up creating it with a different twist!
Here is a short video of the project in it's entirety. Enjoy!!
I will be back next month with more projects! Until then, enjoy the rest of the Helmar Creative Team!
Hugs,
Jeanne
